Yea I realized but can't they just shrink it?

It is not Sakurai's way at all to show up how many exactly are left this easily.
Most plausible explanation is that the next reveal will be included in the marketing material (Incineroar + Ken imo) and then whatever is announced in the final pre-release Direct will be excluded to prevent leaks during production.

The series is called XenoBLADE so I'd say that it still fits.
They really should change it to a stylized X

Essentially that is what people are arguing about right now. Whether this is really it or if this box doesn't accurately reflect the final roster in the base game.

Coro coro is usually hyperbolic. But I don't remember it ever having mis-information. It could potentially be a typo, yes. But I find it unlikely.

Now. If theee are really 5 stages left (at least) in the base game, here are my hopes/expectations:

-Alolan stage.
-Rhythm heaven.
-Star Hill/Bowser's castle
-Noctilum/Sylvalum
-Minecraft stage.

Honorable dlc mentions:
-Venus Lighthouse
-Spring stadium/Sky arena.

Edit:
-Banjo stage (dlc)

The only working "theory" I can think of now is about content showed.
No music, barely any new information on a specific series which has been updated in the past years can get a newcomer.
Xenoblade and Pokemon come first.

The 108 thing whether it's true or not doesn't indicate anything absolutely accurate for newcomers, only stages and the others like hard lock and box are just laughable.

I think there will be a pokemon and Xeno rep, no idea for the rest.
And even for that I'm not hard locking my guesses.
Cross from Xenoblade X is the character I have filling that void.
If there is one X charactef it won't be the non existing avatar (with no name).
He would have to be named "avatar".
Elma is the most probable choice.
Barely any woman in newcomers.
And Isabelle is a dog...

If the 108 number is true, I'm hoping/expecting the final 5 stages are from the following franchises/games, each coming with a new fighter from their respective franchise/game as well:
  • Pokémon Sun / Moon
  • Xenoblade Chronicles X
  • Rhythm Heaven
  • Dragon Quest
  • Golden Sun

So say there's five more stages, I'd expect most to 'belong' to a newcomer, and for the final three I would pick Incineroar, Elma, and a third party (Erdrick, Sora, Dante, Banjo, or Geno).
So, Sun/Moon, Xenoblade X and 'third party'.

For the other two stages, I think it's unlikely that they'd use an unrepped series that could be included via a DLC fighter, as it'd be better to sell a DLC pack with fighter + stage, so I don't see something like Rhythm Heaven or ARMS having a stage in the base game.
I think it's more likely we see stages for things like Nintendo Land or Excitebike.

This is a good list, I'd be super down with it if a fighter came with everyone of those stages. I'm not entirely pleased with the roster of newcomers so far, but this would make me overjoyed for sure.

I knew there would be more stages from the empty space on the select screen. You don't make a screen like that if there isn't more.

5 more + a next page button for DLC/Stage builder makes total sense.

My predictions for the 5, based on what we know:

  1. Minecraft Stage
  2. New Square Rep Stage
  3. Pokemon Gen 7 Stage
  4. Devil May Cry Stage
  5. Versus versoin of Monster Hunter's Ancestral Steppe?

With the possible exception of that last one they all line up with the remaining rumors. Of course instead of the MH stage it could be another new stage for a new franchise.

I'd love to see a Xenoblade X or Golden Sun stage, but don't see it happening unless Elma or Isaac are actually playable.

But... every single one of those X's are different, so it'd be no different than using the Monado.
They could make a unique X for smash. I think this is the X Monolithsoft uses for the series in general:

But even if they used one of the Xes in my first post it would be a lot better than the Monado since an X isn't as specific.

Of course, the Zohar would be even better.

I don't see what's wrong with using the Monado as the symbol for Xenoblade. It's in all 3 in some manner.

Did Verg ever comment on the Dante rumour? It's the one rumour I find kinda believable considering all the things he got right

Yeah, that would be pretty much perfect to me. Those stages and their respective fighters plus a few more echoes or semi-clones would be absolutely amazing.

Vergeben has not said anything about Dante.

The only remaining rumors from him are:
  • Something from Minecraft
  • A Gen 7 Pokemon that isn't Decidueye, Lycanroc, or Mimikyu -- possibly Incineroar
  • A new Square Enix rep
  • Ken from Street Fighter as a Ryu echo

CoroCoro is claiming that Smash Ultimate has 108 stages. So far, every other Japanese publication has said there are 103 stages.

So the question thee Smash Community has is: Does CoroCoro often make mistakes with their coverage, or do you think they are privy to some information?
They have been known to make minor flubs here and there. Every outlet isn't infallible.

Anything is possible.

It warms my heart to see so many people wanting a Dragon Quest rep and/or stage in this thread.

It's a shame it probably won't happen, but still.

Is there any reason to believe the Devil May Cry 5 leak and the Dante in Smash rumor is the same person? Because, I'm not seeing it.
It was a subsequent post in the same thread only a minute apart (You can only post once every 60 seconds). It was not some short bit of info and was detailed. It is extremely unlikely it was anyone other than the OP who made the post.

Regardless of that original rumor/leak though, you also have the 4chan post from this past week who said Isabelle would be the reveal in the recent direct and also said Dante would be revealed in November...

And Imran posted a hint/tease (maybe) for Dante as well. Plus the whole Reuben Sandwich tweet thing.

And Kamiya asking about what Dante should fight Bayonetta when they crossover back in 2015.

In the most recent Corocoro, there's an article on Smash Ultimate claiming there are 108 stages. Some people are trying to argue that this might have been a mistake since as far as we've been told, there are only 103. So I guess people are wondering if making typos/errors like this is a thing corocoro has a history with.

Edit: already answered

Square has plenty of likely reps, it's almost impossible to guess which one they would pick:
  • Sora
  • Another FF character (tons of choices -- most notably/probably: Terra, Sephiroth, Squall, Lightning, Noctis, Warrior of Light, Kain, Red Mage/Black Mage/White Mage)
  • Crono
  • Erdrick
  • Geno
  • Lara Croft (Most unlikely)
All of these are iconic enough (Geno aside, who is a special circumstance) to get in.

The thing with stages is that no matter how many we get at launch, the number can only get bigger with DLC. So even if the final count is 108, that doesn't mean any characters aren't a lock.

Don't start that kind of semantics argument. It doesn't matter what kind of ownership/co-ownership Disney has in the character and franchise. Square Enix develops/produces/publishes the Kingdom Hearts series. Sora would definitely qualify as a "Square Rep" in the context of anything that would matter.
