I still cant understand the Box theory. why cant they just update the box like they did with the group mural in the special edition box?

Of the 5 copies of the game I own, this quote has always stuck out as the weirdest every time.
Its like hes referring to the whole boss as an arm?! maybe whats an arm, Peppy?
Now that I had several hours & a nap to think about it, I'm not too miffed by the box theory possibly being dead-on. Aside from Wonder Red & a Rhythm Heaven rep, most of my requests (namely ARMS & Xenoblade 2 representation) were more likely as DLC than the base roster anyway. I was mostly being happy for you guys for getting your dream choices. So if this is the end, though I can understand why it would be underwhelming for you guys (which was part of my initial argument against the box theory), so be it.
I love Steamworld Dig as much as the next guy, but I'd rather have Piper from Steamworld Heist myself.
I get that but I still think they could rearrange if they need to. I stand in the non believers zone tho.

You can get any character you want in Smash Ultimate, but that means they will never be in any other games. Which character do you ever pick?

that's easy answer. People would pick Geno or Isaac since their franchises are dead.
I'm fully buying in to the box theory, as well as Ken and Incineroar being the final two characters. I suppose it's always possible that there's another row of characters on the back of the box, or that this is an intentional deception. But I'm leaning towards this being the final roster.
This is far and away the best Smash roster we've ever had. Still, as a Ridley and K Rool supporter since Melee and Brawl respectively, I sympathize with the Isaac/Bandana Waddle Dee/Geno/Dixie Kong/Skull Kid supporters. I know what it's like to once again get your hopes up and have them dashed, and I can only imagine it was worse this time seeing as how we've been riding a wave of nothing but those kind of characters being revealed and now it seems like we're coming to a sudden halt.

I'd choose Imajin or Zip for that same reason. I refuse to admit Banjo or Viewtiful Joe are permanently dead.
72/2=36 which gives six rows of six fighters. The next total that balances out is 80 (40 each side, arranged 8x5).
The options, then:
a) An unbalanced design.
b) Fighters "spill over" onto the back of the box.
c) The box is only designed to show off fighters revealed until a set date, suggesting Ken/Incineroar will be unveiled in October, around the time boxes are printed off, and any further fighters are being held back for a November reveal.
But then we'll never get Super Shovel Knight or Shovel Knight 64!
Smash 64 introduced ten new playable franchises and actually is the GOAT. I think the conclusion is obvious.
the "sinister edge" was purely that the animals were jerks, all the time, to you. It didn't matter if you talked to them only once a day, they always had snide remarks for no real reason. Even the "nice" personalities.

If the theory can be answered by "maybe all the characters just won't be on the box?" I don't really think it has much validity.
I'd put my money in the 80 characters BUT they'll need to put the three Mii plus Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard in their own if they need to cover some space. A new Smash focused direct with only 1 or 2 characters announcements seems "weak" to me. Or maybe Im just mental and I want to believe.
I'm thinking the Box is not going to show the full roster. It just seems weird that after them having a super secretive marketing plan to the point that most Nintendo employees don't know everything. This seems like another anti leak measure to me.

Yeah, but that doesn't make any sense. Why are they divided in groups of 9? Wouldn't it be easier just to put them in order?

They could, but they came up with this convoluted group if 9 rule and even included a space for Ken. Why would they do that if they were going to completely change the whole thing?
The theory is "incineroar on one side, ken on the other."
Even gamexplain said the logic and math of it makes sense, the only reason they didn't buy it is that they don't think there would only be two left.

That's pretty tough. I'd be tempted to say Lip, but I want her to keep making cameos in other Puzzle League games. In this case, it might be better to go for an obvious one-off character who never would have returned anyway, so let's go with... Masked Man from Mother 3!
