The only thing that doesn't add up is that The Smash Direct would've revealed more characters in one day than all the months afterward combined. That's just weird.

I dunno, I would kinda be interested in some crazy IP choices. Hype reactions aren't always the biggest IP but the ones that gell with most people. You seem to think the hype train would end at fortnight or something. But if say SubZero got into smash, a lot of people would loose their shit
Because everytime I seem to get into an argument with you , today it seems like you have no worldly idea what you are even talking about. Like making a comparison to a game who notoriously a roster problems because they didn't have enough characters and couldn't get the characters they want and suggesting it was an " Outdooing " eachother problem. And then before that suggesting that a popular character... isn't popular... because you feel it..even though the people who own that character...outright say it. Can you blame me for being confused? I don't find it that weird because there's less than a 4-month gap between the Smash Direct debut and the release date. And we're already nearing the halfway point between the two. Over one month later we got what would be the second to last newcomer. There would probably be one more presentation about the game that depicts online modes, Spirits, and the last echo and newcomer. There was always a lot to reveal about the game, the Smash Direct just focused on the characters. The Smash 4 Direct did the same thing, which I understand was kind of different because they were account for two games and two sets of modes. But they were still the same roster.
The funniest thing about the Direct was the Square Enix segment.

So if we are thinking the game will have DLC here's a question regarding that. How long will this game have DLC? (IE we can expect DLC support for 3 years for example or something like that)
Someone was actually considering something like this before the Direct, "Square reveals leading up to Square character", but the character was not from FF and all the suggested reveals were, so I thought the reasoning was farfetched. Guess not.
I'd imagine we'd get just over a year of DLC Smash 4.

Depends on if they'll release DLC echoes, and whether or not there are any unfinished characters planned for the main game that will be finished as DLC (Like Mewtwo in Smash 4). I could see us getting 7 characters like Smash 4. At teh very least, I expect us to get four DLC characters (that's the number of totally new newcomers released as DLC for Smash 4).

Somebody referred to Wolf as "Nintendo's take on Vegeta" or something like that, and the comparison has inexplicably stuck with me despite thinking it was pretty tenuous.
I think I have a nearly photographic memory, but only for completely pointless things.
I mean, I have always seen Wolf as the series' Vegeta. I just don't recall articulating that, lol.
Smash 4 DLC had 4 newcomers and 3 veterans. There are no vets this time so they can probably do like 5 newcomers.

- A regular Waddle Dee should be added. He has no idea what the heck a Bandana Waddle Dee is. I tried explaining and just got a weird look. He thinks either add Dee as a player, bring back Waddle Dee toss, or make him an Assist Trophy.
- The only two amiibo I own not in Smash are Boo and Waddle Dee, which is why he brought up Waddle Dee. He thought King Boo might work.
- Shovel Knight should be an Assist Trophy (due to my amiibo). I then told him that Shovel Knight is already an Assist Trophy and he was happy
- He was in disbelief that they brought Pichu and Young Link back. He didn't know until I mentioned it.
- He loves the visual changes made to Mr Game and Watch, who is his favorite character
- He thinks his female friends will love Isabelle when they play Smash together
- He thought my Revali amiibo was Falco
- Sora would be awesome to whack people with a key, but he's not sure how they'd do it without Donald and Goofy (one of his first video games, ever, was Chain of Memories)
- He said Smash has so many characters, he forgot Ike was even in the game until he saw my Roy amiibo.
This is a guy who doesn't play recent Nintendo games unless they're Smash.
