But swap out the Confederate ghost for, like, Abraham Lincoln or something.

Realistically it seems they would be perfect for Daredevil.
I'd love to see if they could somehow save the world from the trend of terrible Superman games though.

That tells me nothing about him other than his appearance.

I think Black Panther would be cool, but would they have to put him in another suit because his Vibranium one makes him indestructible right? It would be cool to see Wakanda in video game form, but I also think BP handles a lot of shit outside of Wakanda right? I mean he is a king and has to deal with international issues sometimes?

If it's a Wakandan Civil War and rebels are taking control of the vibranium supply and using Wakandan weapons, then nah, you can use the regular Panther Habit.

If Wakandan Civil War doesn't interest you, wars with Doom's Latveria or Namor's Atlantis would also give him work to do.

No disrepect to Rocksteady's Batman titles. But this new surge in interest is clearly due to Spidey's sucess. It's simply the springboard to whats next for us and this discussion.

Big Marvel fan and I'd have to go with Cap. I think The Coalition could make a great Cap game because I think the best Cap game would have gameplay and a camera like what Gears has.

However, I want to go beyond Marvel and DC, and doing so I'd vote for Hellboy or Spawn.

Definitely the flash.

Also..branching out slightly from just super heroes, the predator would be a good choice too.

Your attention may be drawn to him chopping off a robot's head with his right hand, but please note that he is simultaneously crushing another robot's junk with his left hand.

Captain America game with new God of War combat set in a semi-linear open world just like GOW. Flesh out the hand to hand a bit more and replace axe with shield.

Do you think this surge of interest in high quality AAA superhero games is new? We had this conversation back with Arkham Asylum. And then with City. And then with Knight. And Injustice. And Injustice 2. And MvC3. And UMvC3. And then not MvCI for obvious reasons.

Spider-Man exists because of Rocksteady's Arkham games. It's literally Arkham formula + open world New York. I don't even know what flood of bad games you're talking about in your thread, are you thinking of like the mid 2000s or mobile games? The conversation around superhero games is loud because a big release just hit, but this isn't some revolution or the start of a new trend. It's just continuing something that's been happening since 2009. Insomniac didn't show the world something it hadn't already seen.

The answer to the question, "What superhero should get the 'Rockstar Arkham' treatment?", is well, heaps of them.

Said it before, but Daredevil is the correct answer. Open world, M rated, blood with real time combat damage to the main character.

A REALLY close second would be Punisher.

A Hulkling game exploring his being at the center of the Skrull-Kree War. That, or a Wiccan RPG with an innovative magic system that I'm not creative enough to imagine. The game would explore the risks and responsibilities of being a latent demiurge/Sorcerer Supreme candidate. Doesn't matter which one gets the treatment, as it would surely come with the other as a sub-plot/interwoven arc.

I want an Iron Man or Superman game that plays like Zone of the Enders. Flying around with a good skill set at your disposal with tight, fast action.

I like magic-based characters. So, how about Dr. Strange? I'm not sure if there's a developer who would be a good pick. My first thought was the Dishonored games by Arkane Studios.

A woman or POC superhero. Right now Wonder Woman and Black Panther are in vogue for the treatment.

How about Storm? An awesome game that utilizes a weather-based power set is up my alley. I'm not sure how well it would work, but I'd love someone to try their best.

(I typed all of this knowing that Storm isn't particularly "in" at the moment and probably wouldn't be picked to carry a game. The same is probably sadly true for Iceman. Maybe I just want an X-Men game.)

X-Men

Gameplay is team-based action RPG ; a mix of Dragon Age: Inquisition & Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Gameplay is 2-phases. There's the core story which takes the core X-Men group to specific regions to deal with main story arc problems and recruit new X-Men to the team. Secondary phase is the base-building/team building aspect of Xavier Mansion, where you get to macro-manage teaching, nurturing of less story-focused X-Men, send them out on dispatch missions that's discovered via Cerebro, etc.

Blade.

Cruising around the city hunting vampires. Cool fight mechanics, cool gadgets, GREAT atmosphere.

I still don't understand why this didn't happen 5 years ago, seems like an easy win to me.

It's honestly time for a good AAA Superman game.

After playing Spidey this past week, it's just really fucking time. The tech is there. He has had stories spanning for 1000 issues to draw from. There's never been more of a hunger for it. The time is now for Superman.

A Gambit game that's a mixture between stealth and mutant-powers-brawling in a series of elaborate heist missions.

Blade.

Seen as we are never gonna get another film. But he is a good match for a game, mechanically speaking.

- Martial arts heavy (so would be well suited to a combat system)
- the game could have detective stuff to do during the day and cool combat during the night.
- It could work well without having to be open world.
- Enemies are vampires
- Valid reasons for the, to have high health / strength
- valid reasons for different enemy types that have different levels of strength etc & cool bosses
- Blade is strong but not invulnerable which gives good gameplay balance options,
- part vampireness means they can give him regen health, vision mode, enhanced mobility, rage mode combat options etc etc etc
- He uses a lot of gadgets & weapons, so that has a lot of potential for upgrade mechanics / crafting system
- Gun & sword combat is dope as hell and you all know it, and the game could easily have those OTT finishing moves that the industry adores.
- Being called "Daywalker" is dope as hell and you all know it.
- It's been long enough since the films that they can reboot it, and he isn't in MCU so they don't have to worry about continuity etc.

The Punisher: it could implement stealth, melee and gun play similar to what we see in Hitman and Splinter Cell. I am huge on games like this.

Wonder Woman: Far more traditional approach when it comes to combat. Studios that could tackle this may be Sony Santa Monica/or Ninja Theory.

Edit:

Going through the thread and thinking that Lobo would be a great character. You would essentially be taking jobs throughout the galaxy as a mercenary and bounty hunter. Add a good story and RPG elements when it comes to player and weapon upgrades. It would be crazy. And as Insomniac has shown, you can make a complete game without having a messed up game economy that is reliant on Microtransactions.

How about where the hell is Rocksteady's new Superhero game before we get hypothetical about another insomniac one, it's been 3 years already.
Also X-Men with multiple mutants to pick from (kinda do a GTAV thing maybe) dunno if the rights will be an issue though due to Disney/Fox.

I'm not really into superhero stuff these days , I think most of the movies are pretty childish trash ....

But one movie I did like was Watchmen. So make that a game with multiple playable characters etc.

I would be so down for an Insomniac Iron Man game. As people have said, IM is SERIOUSLY popular too so it would absolutely make bank for Marvel.

One Punch Man :)

All difficulties above easy replace the player character with Genos, and the story completely changes.

If you try to select easy, the game asks if you really think power is easy. If you say no, it lets you play.

Daredevil
Moon Knight

I came here to post this and got beat.

My next pick would definitely be Iron Fist, though. His TV show is boring, but his comic series is pretty excellent, and a Sleeping Dogs/Absolver-esque Iron Fist game where you build combo decks and traverse an open world busting crime would be so dope.

That being said I'd kill for a Doctor Strange horror game.
