I only use Discord for a Latin American group that plays Destiny. If you post anything like a meme or not adding anything to the conversation, you're fucking banned.
Some guy complained why they don't "let him socialize".
Admins reply: "Who the fuck would even think about talking to you?"

You know, it is one of those rare times where I am glad I never learned how to use Discord (beyond that one time for Era's Destiny 2 clan) properly.
When we get a group together shit gets really fun and I have added many people from other countries to talk in a separate group about random stuff. I'm okay with just making the Discord group about Destiny stuff but once we're playing if you feel like chatting it's a very welcoming and talkative experience.
Specially because I got tired of how toxic the English discord groups of Destiny were and I'm far more comfortable using my own language than being laughed at for pronouncing Enlgish, but that's another topic.
It's weird to me you dislike toxicity when the quote you posted, the thing that makes you love it, is toxic as fuuuuuck.
Group rules are: "No offtopic" but people don't give a shit so the admin goes kinda nuts when people just go ahead and post a meme in the LFG chat.
I know it's contradictory but it's kinda funny in the way people posted bishoptl gifs expecting a ban in NeoGAF.
In English groups I found a lot of racism and people calling me Jose because of the way I speak, so I prefer that kind of "asshole behaviour" instead, idk.

and another person proceeded to spam chat to clear it from their screen

I'm "that guy" that mostly uses Discord to talk to 5 people.
I understand why people have congregated to it as a tool for community hubs, but to me it's basically just free Ventrilo/not bloated Skype.

I've never used discord. I don't even know what it is really, hearing people talk about it makes me feel like it's a glimpse into the future where I'm old and have no idea what the young kids are doing.
I have a small server of about 20 active people. We used to be bigger until we had so many "That Guy"s that I wanted to shoot someone. We still have one whose a pretty hard fuckboy, but we let it slide cause he only gets like that sometimes and it's easy to just mute him till he gets his hormones under control. I wanted to open my server back up for more members but it's hard to actually find decent people to talk to.
I'm not but if you are it might take me a while to notice. Just because I get spammed with @everyone or @here doesn't mean I'll see it. Pro tip, mute every discord you join upon entry.
