It's not lethal weaponry Sakurai is opposed to. It's "realistic" weaponry. Explosions and weapons derived from such are more commonly associated with cartoon violence, so weapons like rocket launchers and bombs are usually fair game. Realistic guns, ballistic firearms and shorthand blades however lean more towards "realistic violence", most likely because there's a bigger element of brutality associated with them. And I'm not the one who makes the rules on that; that's usually how the rating boards judges the level of violence in games. Sakurai employs a similar metric to keep the game's subsequent age rating in check.

And im saying its easy to come up with 4 specials, throws and normals without using realistic rifles or pistols. Having a combat knife doesn't seem to be an issue any more if Snake has one.

The DMC people especifically said No Dante In Smash.

This is not a case of "no comment" or "we don't talk about rumours". That's as clear cut as it comes for me.
It was Capcom USA's producer that said it. After a history of tripping over himself and making a bunch of awkward slip ups when caught on spot during podcasts and interviews. He was already taken aback the first time he was asked about it. A single tweet don't mean shit.

Think the DLC characters will be very 3rd party focused, like they were for Smash 4?
Here's the thing - I'm not so sure. Nintendo has a lot of first party ground to cover from the first year of the Switch. And I feel like most thit'd parties got their big tickets out of the way.

Short of a complete heel turn like Microsoft DLC, it'll probably be more Nintendo.

Either you've been playing too much Project M or you're misremembering things; Snake doesn't have a knife in Brawl.

The moon being its own AT also isn't evidence when there's already precedent for an AT's seemingly arbitrary removal in the next game.
You honestly think Sakurai would get rid of one of the most popular Zelda characters but also keep ATs like Ghirahim and Midna? Lol

I'll post this again
-Moon Assist Trophy not being summoned by Skull Kid makes zero sense
-Young Link's Final Smash not being shown yet
-Ramblin' Mushroom replacing Skull Kid's assist trophy gimmick from Smash 4
-Majora's Mask 3D releasing while Sakurai was drafting his picks for Ultimate

If we actually get Dante, I want Heihachi as well. Just so Smash can eat Playstation All Star's lunch again.

So it doesn't matter that much since the point of "this is the final box, which would be missing characters anyway" is the one ned is pushing but just to clear it up

The special edition, this thing
71BJbF%2Br8tL._AC_SL1500_.jpg

Is coming December 7th.
Yea, I was confused on the boxes

However, that's still the final box unless someone can show me somewhere that says it isn't (generally "not final packaging" is mentioned)

The run up for production of those bundles is going to have to start long before the roster is all confirmed. And the printing of the boxes would be the simplest place for the entire roster to leak. They're not going to do that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if he were in then being a producer still means you're under an NDA and, again correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure NDAs mean you can't address it at all.

Yeah. Yeah I would believe that. He also got rid of Tingle (apparently) and he's super popular in Japan.

That'd be extremely awkward if the final
box had uneven rows with two empty slots when they easily have characters they could fill it with...

The thread is specifically about Square characters, which other leakers agree upon. We don't have any leads about Namco characters.
Yes. Which is why the square character seems likely but Namco character is on the rocks. But the reason people are suspecting a Namco character at all is because of that same Imran tweet. He may only have been hinting at a Square character, but he did also point out there is only 1 current Namco character too. So it's very possible he was hinting at both.

Honestly the main reason I don't think there's a big third party pick left is because Simon wasn't revealed at E3. If they had 2 big 3rd party characters to announce I'd think one would be announced at E3 and one would be announced at around halfway into the hype cycle.

Geno though, he'd fit as a Square rep while also being such a niche choice that he fits as the final reveal. Everyone is saying they're gonna top it off with some huge megaton announcement but that just seems like wishful thinking ignoring how these things have actually gone in the past. The final reveals tend to be the most low-key ones.

What's interesting is that they seem to realize the marketing potential Smash has enough to plan the reveal of AC Switch around Isabelle in Smash. They have a different message in each announcement- Smash is coming and Inkling is in, every character ever plus Ridley, Simon Belmont is in and so is fan favorite K Rool, Isabelle made it also there's AC Switch.

The headlines were never missing the big take away. And in an era of online marketing that's what they want. This is way more planned out than the other games.

Wtf?

Moon AT, Timing of MM3D, lack of AT are all more convincing evidence
Isaac got dropped from Smash 4 with no explanation and there's no precedent for a one-off villain from any Zelda game becoming playable. Especially with the Zelda series already getting Young Link back as well as a revamped BOTW Link and Zelda given a complete visual overhaul. Even Dorf returned to his OoT look and got a sword for some attacks to boot.

That's a lot more work than other groups of returning characters got. Especially for a series with as many reps as it already has. We also haven't seen Young Link's FS.

Skull Kid could happen, but I doubt it.

The same way Kamiya addresses Smash idiots by telling them to eff off right?

We can only speculate about NDAs. If Capcom is under NDA on Smash, he shouldn't even be able to say Dante isn't in the game.

I know we just got a Smash character yesterday, but it would be nice for Sakurai to announce the next Smash direct so I can request PTO.

Mannn, the 9 months or whatever that we can play Smash Ultimate but can't play Animal Crossing switch are gonna be rough, especially if Isabelle is good.

I basically support almost all Square Enix characters so they could block a scenario involving a Sugiyama pay check. I'd support Sora. I'd support Lightning. I'd support Moogle.

Then it would've been designed differently to look better, I'd think
Those character blocks are the same blocks used in other promotion Smash Ultimate things (like a brochure given out at some demos), so they had to make it work within those boxes while still keeping with the size of the game box.

The two characters we're guessing are on the box were leaked
The person who leaked Incineroar and Ken also leaked another Square Rep, so this doesn't make sense.

I don't know about the NDA talk this time, I still remember when Mercury Steam's head was asked if they were developing a new Metroid with Nintendo, and he outright said they were stupid people, and that was a total lie. Flashforward to after the anouncement of the game, and he was asked about that and he laughed about it. I'm guessing you can negate stuff, even if it's a lie, if it keeps people off you.

So I was watching this video about TOP 10 MOST POWERFUL SMASH CHARACTERS CANONICALLY and I'm very confused as to how anyone can think Samus is stronger than Ness or Mewtwo. Samus is crafty, but that doesn't necessarily put her in Planet Buster Tier.

  1. Kirby
  2. Rosalina
  3. Bayonetta
  4. Shulk
  5. Palutena
  6. Ganondorf
  7. Sonic
  8. Samus
  9. Ness
  10. Mewtwo
I also have issues with Ganondorf's standing, but I get the point that he's basically immortal.

In mind of symmetry, having Ken, PokeRep, and SE rep would being it to 71. Unless they scrunch the final row, the last character would be on their own, which would look bizarre given that 71 is a prime number.

Something has to drop
