Good point. It's likely that the box art isn't final and isn't a real good gauge on how many characters are left to reveal. It honestly depends. There could be a chance that Isabelle is on the otherside.
Lets see echoes are
Daisy richter chrom and dark samus lucina and dark pit. 68 unique fighters plus 6 echoes... 74.?
Zelda is, too.Convenient that the two character who everybody thinks will have echoes, Ryu and Sonic, are apparently on the other side of the box.
So 4 left.Yes but in game they are counted as 1. Same with Pokemon Trainer.
I accounted for that in my post. The current amount of slots on the roster (with echoes separate and Mii Fighters/Pokemon Trainer merged) is 70.The mii characters are three different numbers but are all in one picture on the box. Pokemon Trainer could be the same way.
That would be 2 if we were to believe the box art is final (minus Isabelle and the final 2 characters)
I think it's 2 characters. Isabelle has to go on one side or the other leaving 2 blanksAlright, I noticed something really interesting with the box art.
The missing characters are not arbitrary, but are part of a clear pattern based off their character numbers.
01 - Mario
02 - Donkey Kong
03 - Link
04 - Samus
04e - Dark Samus
05 - Yoshi
06 - Kirby
07 - Fox
08 - Pikachu
17 - Zelda
18 - Dr. Mario
19 - Pichu
20 - Falco
21 - Marth
21e - Lucina
22 - Young Link
23 - Ganondorf
24 - Mewtwo
32 - Ike
33/34/35 - Pokémon Trainer - Squirtle/Ivysaur/Charizard
36 - Diddy Kong
37 - Lucas
38 - Sonic
39 - King Dedede
40 - Olimar
41 - Lucario
42 - R.O.B.
54 - Palutena
55 - Pac-Man
56 - Robin
57 - Shulk
58 - Bowser Jr.
59 - Duck Hunt
60 - Ryu
61 - Cloud
The gaps represent the characters that are listed on the box. What's happening here is that the characters have been broken down into groupings of 9, with every other grouping being present on the side of the box. Pokémon Trainer is grouped together, just as the Mii fighters are on the right. The last block of missing characters is actually only 8, which says to me that one of them should have an Echo Fighter. Ryu just so happens to be in that block, so that leaves one slot in his block for Ken. If each side has 36 characters and no characters go unrepresented, that means we likely have two new characters and Ken remaining.
Never tell me the odds.
This might be it if your post is right. The gaps represent the characters that are listed on the box. If each side has 36 character icons and no characters go unrepresented, that means we likely have one new character and Ken remaining.
It's not that small, but not that big as well. Don't think it will be in, personally.Isn't DMC a niche series? Why would Dante be in the game from a 3rd party when there are so many other bigger series? Plus Capcom is accounted for.

Right, I addressed that. That character should be part of the 54-61 block, meaning it's an Echo, and Ken for Ryu is the likeliest there.I think it's 2 characters. Isabelle has to go on one side or the other leaving 2 blanks
Being a multi million seller is barely niche. But people were calling Isabelle a niche character so I guess everything is niche.
Not when most of their movesets are dictated by realistic firearms and shorthand combat blades.A Resident Evil rep has a much more believable chance of being in than Dante.
I'm not a betting man
Oh I caught you before the edit. You said two new characters & KenRight, I addressed that. That character should be part of the 54-61 block, meaning it's an Echo, and Ken for Ryu is the likeliest there.

lol, seriously?I've gotten aggressive DMs so I'll finally concede.
Vergeben is right. All hail the Minecraft steve overlords.
Are you trying to make me want him out even more?Dante needs to be in the game for the cheesy Bayonetta vs Dante fanart that will inevitably spawn
Gotcha, yeah, I was counting Ken twice in that version of the post. :POh I caught you before the edit. You said two new characters & Ken

DMC the original game sells about 3 million per game, which is great, but not big compared to many of the options left over from franchises that have actually existed on previous Nintendo consoles, such as Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest, etc.
Bayonetta is for all intents and purposes a first party franchise now. Nintendo published, fully funded, and owns Bayonetta 2, 3, and the Wii U/Switch version of 1.
Chris doesn't need a weapon. He has a Boulder. Not when most of their movesets are dictated by realistic firearms and shorthand combat blades.
Snake was designed in Smash around his hand-to-hand combat and explosives with Sakurai consciously excluding his conventional firearms. Fittingly enough because that represents the tactical espionage element of MGS the most as opposed to the game's gun combat.
I don't get how you got to that number. In terms of roster slots (counting echoes and count Mii Fighters and Pokemon Trainer as one slot) we're already at 70, and the box has 72 slots for characters; so doesn't that suggest that there are only two more characters left? That definitely isn't happening, so I don't really think it means much.
If i'm really stupid and missing something obvious, feel free to correct me.
I like this. Let's go with this.My secret hope is a leaker was listening in to higher ups discussing smash characters and he thought they said Dante but they actually said Shantae.
Yeah, because Dante's a total stranger to realistic firearms. Not when most of their movesets are dictated by realistic firearms and shorthand combat blades.
