Sans and Papyrus would be a great assist trophy. They could summon bone platforms that come from the sides of the screen. Mettaton could also be an assist trophy that dances and stretches his legs to attack.

Once Dark Samus takes over from Isabelle in running information spots on Tokyo subway trains, maybe she'll be put in a better position for the next game.
I know people like to shit on Daisy all the time in this thread for some reason, and I don't know why Era can't handle her being an absolutely massive character. She's bigger than Ridley, K. Rool, the Belmonts, Dark Samus and Chrom combined. The only one who measures up to her is Isabelle.
It's more a matter of no one really being left in Square's catalog who's been desired by the Smash community if Dragon Quest ends up not panning out, though I think Sakurai will try for DQ first and foremost.
Crono isn't happening. Aya Brea isn't happening. Fei Fong Wong isn't happening. Another FF rep isn't happening. Who's left if not Geno, who has cult appeal, Sakurai's own affection for the character, and no one else really getting in his way?
Swap Skull Kid and Geno out for two third parties and you're looking at my current prediction list.

Yes I know there's time and resources and such, but I think Isabelle will be the only semi clone added. I mean, you don't introudce echo fighters as a concept, and make a bunch of semi clones. It doesn't make sense from that perspective.

Anyways, I think the whole classifcation of echo fighters is deeply flawed. Sakurai I feel is the person who would not add a playable character only for the sake of adding a playable character.
There's a difference between recognition and importance. Ridley, K. Rool, the Belmonts, Dark Samus, and Chrom are super integral to the games they appear in.

She's not super duper massive like Isabelle or Link or Inkling or Mario, but she is certainly a notable Nintendo character that people appreciate. Heck, if she wasn't notable, she wouldn't be the first echo fighter revealed or conceived.

Its really hard for me to care much about a character I don't like getting into Smash since I already have gotten so many that I think look outstanding. I can't expect every single character to be tailored to my tastes. That'd be insane.
Also getting all that Final Fantasy shit announced for Switch was the goddamn hypest that I don't have the energy to be down on Isabelle.

Yeah, I'm glad this reveal has shaken things up a little bit. I was thinking Skull Kid and Isaac would be likely but I'm not so sure that's the case anymore. I don't wanna believe Geno will get it because I'm selfish and want a Dragon Quest character instead. I don't think it will be that much of an obstacle seeing as FF and DQ characters are featured alongside Mario characters in Fortune Street. It's not like they haven't crossed over before.
I'm well aware of their importance to their respective franchises, but the argument was that Geno is a "low appeal on a broader scale".
There's no higher appeal than Daisy and Isabelle on a broader scale among the entirety of all of Ultimate's newcomers so far. To claim that Daisy is an unpopular character that appeals to basically nobody is being extremely ignorant of reality.

I was looking back at poll data from 2015 and Isaac was pretty high on the list in US/Europe. I still have a slimmer of hope that we'll get a Golden Sun rep considering they removed Isaac's assist trophy in SSB4. I really hope he makes it in. I want a Djinn final smash.

Yes, but the games they appear in aren't important in comparison. A third tier character in a massive series is much more notable than the protagonist of an insignificant one.
Isabelle and Geno appeal to two different markets. Sure maybe a hardcore Smash fan might not care for her, but she's immensely popular as a character.
Characters like Geno, Ridley, K.Rool and Isaac appeal to the same kind of person who's really on board with having Sentinel in Marvel vs. Capcom.

This is close to mine, but with two differences:
-I think there'll be 3-5 more new echo fighters, with Shadow and Ken being very likely. The remaining 1-3 could be a large variety of echo fighters, such as an MGS rep, Ms. Pac-man, Ninten, Black Shadow, Plusle & Minun, Dixie, etc.
-I would count Incineroar or a different Pokemon as a hard lock. I would then throw Skull Kid, Geno, Banjo & Kazooie, a new Namco Rep, a new Square Rep, Monster Hunter or Dante (but not both), and a Rhythym Heaven rep into a pool of newcomers from which we'll get at least 2, probably 3, but not more than 5.
I'm also guessing DLC will likely be from a remainder of that pool, but with Rex, Spring-man, Ray-man, an indie rep, and a Bethesda rep having a possibility of getting in.

Y'all might be right about Skull Kid and Geno. Geno in particular is prime DLC material. Skull Kid could be a boss. Dragon Quest Hero could happen (I prefer VIII's cuz he turns super saiyan), and I don't know who else. Dixie as a unique or Dixie as an echo and Shadow as a unique?
If you want more clarification, I am speaking purely on their roles within their series. Daisy is primarily treated as a spin off character despite originally appearing in a platformer. But she still appears quite constantly. That is more than i can say about Geno whi was scrubbed from the remake of Mario and Luigi

Any "smaller" Nintendo character is worthy of DLC just for being a Nintendo character in their own all stars game. Japan is also 1/3 of Nintendo's sales and there Nintendo is the mainstream almost alone, third parties don't get even close to their market share (and western third parties are almost all unknown).
Thinking Rex or Spring Man won't be DLC is beyond silly. More Switch owners will buy them than characters from games that sold less on Switch/aren't relevant in Japan.

Nah. There's a whole game by indieszero with Dragon Quest music. He just asks people to not make orchestra versions of his songs because he does concertos himself, that's why DQ music is all midi.

Aya Brea would make the least sense given that Parasite Eve has no connection to a Nintendo platform. But Crono is the lead of a classic SNES RPG that's seen multiple re-releases. Fei Fong Wong is the star of the very first Xeno-game. And there's nothing to stop another Final Fantasy character from appearing, either.
And this isn't a question of what's desired by "the Smash community." God, I'd hate to see a roster that was based entirely on the whims of the Smash community.

Nah. Memoryman was an amplifier for sure, but Daisy's generally not a very popular character among gaming enthusiast circles for some reason.
These discussions always go in circles whenever there are "obvious" characters remaining. I'm glad we got Isabelle in this Direct so that we could cross her off the list, but I'm disappointed that we didn't get an Incineroar/Gen 7 Pokémon reveal as well.
