beat the game and this guy is talking out of his butt, funny thing is i didn't see any Cygames stuff in the credits either which is odd for a remaster

Easy, dude. :/

I only went by the credits that was in the main menu when you boot the game. If those are the credits you get when you beat the game, I'll happily admit I was mistaken. No need to be insulting.

The cutscenes are awful of my Oculus. Are they running as 60 fps? They are super stuttery and hard to watch. Is there any fix for this?

How is this game on PS4 pro? Where are the reviews? There's been absolutely no hype for it? I played it on ps2 and 360 when they came out.

Is it good in VR?

Haven't progress much on the game because of Spiderman but had sometime today. Just beaten the Nephtis 2nd fight and it is straight ass just like I remember it as well as the dub.

Otherwise that the gameplay still holds up well.

Its good. Best version probably. Especially if the 360 is the last one you played, the PS3 version was cleaned up completely. But this one still edges it out.

Its decent in VR. It kind of plays like a rail shooter then. There are markers on the screen that set you on the right path and viewpoint every time during traversal, idk if you can turn these off. There is also head tracking I noticed, it replaces the regular Right Stick aiming and shooting you hardly ever need to use. ZoE VR essentially plays the same as in 2D, but then from first person and you're inside the cockpit. I feel the awesome melee and boost animations take a hit though since you're doing them in first person.

This is a good VR review and vid:

So out of curiosity, does anyone here have the Japanese PC version?

I can't tell if an audio mod for the English version hasn't popped up because the audio files are incompatible or because no one from Japan has bought it and bothered to upload them somewhere.

Two questions for everyone here:
  1. Is there a patch incoming for this game?
  2. Like a dumby, I managed to purchase 3 copies of the game. Now before you ask "how does one accidentally buy 3 copies of a game" let me explain. The first copy I ordered Best Buy and I received that last week. Yesterday, I received the other two copies from Amazon Japan. I occasionally purchase games through Amazon Japan and I would like to emphasize "occasionally" as I'm logged into that account so rarely that I often forget about those orders. Now that still doesn't explain how or why I ordered two copies and didn't notice but here we are. Anyway, here's my question: I know that the US version of the game only has the pretty bad English dub but I noticed that as far as the subtitles go they had a ton of different languages including Japanese. So then is it safe to assume that with Japanese version it will only have the Japanese VO BUT I'll be able to turn on English subtitles? Also, would I be able to play the Japanese version of the game with English text just across the board for stuff like menus, tutorials and whatnot? If so, then I may just keep one of the Japanese copies of the game and sell the other two copies as I'm really not a fan of the English dub.

Yeah, the animated scenes in particular aren't great. Thankfully I've beaten the game before so I skip most of them.

Game itself is a lot better in VR than I expected, though. The comfort options work surprisingly well without hampering the experience too much; I played a couple of hours straight no problems. It's kind of cool being in the cockpit and seeing a little projection of the Jehuty in the corner.

I wish there were more options to increase depth, mind. It does seem a little flat for my taste.

Did you ever find out the answer to this? I'd love to know as well.
Japanese version does not have English subtitles. The subs are hardcoded to the English video files for the English version, so they can't be easily swapped.

I'm playing the Japanese PC version, and there are only Japanese subs. Replacing the audio itself works temporarily, but results in desynced audio and subtitles during cutscenes due to the length being different depending on the voice track.

Finished! I liked it, kinda regret not playing the first one. Maybe I'll grab it on 360 now that the collection is BC.
Started in VR which was cool and finished the rest in 4K which looked really nice.
Here's hoping for a sequel that may never come.

Just tried the demo. Not sure why I waited so long to try it. Anyway, I couldn't get the L3/R3 reactions to work. Is quickturn not supposed to work in third person view?

Finally played through this for the first time. It was probably the game I was most excited to play with my new VR headset.

I would say it is very much a "Kojima game", haha. The story is fantastic. The characters are fairly inspired. And the boss fights are absolutely incredible, especially in VR. Perfectly tense, inspired future dogfights. I was feeling like a real mech pilot for a while there!

The negative parts all seem to stem from the fact that it is still very much a PS2 game. The controls are very jank, and the auto lock-on has a nasty habit of flicking your camera around all the time, which is especially disorienting in VR. There are some escort missions, which is never good. And towards the middle they start introducing all these unique mission types for "variety" I guess, which are kinda weird and unfun? Like that damn level where Ken slooooowly guides you through a minefield, lol.

Overall, my impressions were positive. It was a highly unique and intriguing experience, and I'm glad I finally got to see what all the hype was about.

And big thanks again to Orbital Edge for the Japanese VA mod! The subtitles ended up getting a little desynced because of it but I still much preferred that to the alternative, haha.

It seems people (still ?) have some problems with the PC port... How good is the PS4 release compared to the HD Edition ?

Was Mars successful in the end ?

I bought the PC version during the holiday sale. The only issue I have with it is the crackly audio with Windows default 44khz sample rate setting. Changing it to 48khz fixes it. I have onboard RealTek audio hardware with Windows default drivers (I uninstalled the Realtek ones because they add nothing I need).

It's on sale right now with the Made in Japan PSN sale for 60% off. Been waiting for this.

It's. So. Fucking. Beautiful. In. 4K.

I'm a lucky owner of a PSVR unit too so I'll eventually give that a try.

The fucking opening to this game and that first boss battle. That soundtrack thumpin. The fluid and explosibe combat. Man. Nothing like it. I think a ZOE3 is suddenly my biggest game wish at the moment.

This game was sorcery on the PS2.
