When shows I like come back I like to go to Netflix and see if it's possible to start watching without using search.

I scrolled down the page past my continue watching (where I feel like shows I've seen with new episodes should resurface, but they don't), new releases, what's popular, Netflix originals, etc. and nothing. I then went through all of those categories until they looped back around. No Bojack, no American Vandal.

I get that they probably want me to watch new stuff, like this Car Masters show I have no interest in, but maybe they could surface what I'm very likely to watch.

I have question for those who have whatched the entire season. Do you agree with this quote after all?

"This is going to be a sensational season of television."

Yes and no. The arc of this season doesn't feel as "sensational" as the "writing the book", movie shoot, awards season, or governor's race narratives. And while all the main characters have fun stuff to do -- except (weirdly) for Todd, who spends most of the season in an office -- there are several brand new characters (including Flip McVicker) that give this season a very distinct feel from the previous ones. But it's still Bojack, and the writing stands above any other comedy on TV. And Jessica Biel continues to be a great sport, every appearance she makes is gold.

The monologue episode, Diane's GirlCroosh episode, and episode 11 with the surprise musical number are all standouts.

I agree that the last episode could have easily worked as a series finale, but I'll watch as many episodes as they crank out.

Has it been revealed whether Lisa Hanawalt's new show "Tuca and Bertie" is in the "Hollywoo-verse"?

I wish more people were into this show. Its so phenomenal, I want to share my experience with the people in my life.

I imagine a lot more people will start watching it on Comedy Central.

I actually liked her more this season than usual. The thing about Diane is she's actually right a lot of the time, and this season she has moments of harshness and tenderness she sorta' flops between. Everything she said harsh this season was 100% accurate though... But she has a blindspot. She does not see her own issues and thinks she personally is better off than she actually is. I think she's afraid to realize she's in many ways just as bad as Bojack, and in this season she denies that so incredibly. When she's shitty, she's reeaal shitty, and there's a few moments in this season of her really dealing out the shittiness. But then other times, she does really cool, nice, and considerate things.

I don't know how to word this exactly, she herself and her problems are very different than Bojack's, but they do have a lot of the same core problems. Both want to be good people and even sometimes show they're selfless and caring, but ultimately they have so many issues and can't find the happiness they so desperately want and keep sabotaging themselves and then blaming themselves further for it while all at once deflecting and focusing on others problems that are not their own. Bojack is more openly focused on himself, but Diane is definitely self-centered but disguised as a caring person. Both her and Bojack do care about others, but ultimately most of their actions are for themselves almost always.

Hope that makes sense. Ultimately I think she was most interesting this season, but out of the "main" cast (Bojack, Diane, Mr. Peanutbutter, Princess Caroline, Todd) she's my least favorite but I've never disliked her. This season I felt she was at her stronger for who her character is.
Yep, Diane is extremely broken in a different way, but also this was maybe the strongest season for her character. It's telling that Diane never really unpacked at her new place. Also, I wonder what the "sunsetting" metaphor with her at the end of the finale was about.

I had no idea Stephanie Beatriz could sing like that! She was great for a new recurring character.

Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa from Brooklyn Nine-Nine) plays Gina and she's great. As a new character I was surprised how naturally she slotted in.

Edit:

To be perfectly honest, no? This is maybe the first time I'd consider a new Bojack season to be a step down from the last, but in some ways this season has very specific things it wanted to say about the world than others so it doesn't spend quite as much time on some characters as past seasons.

That said, it's still Bojack and still pretty great, but I am really hoping they wrap the show up soon because there's only so many times I can see this character fall and try to get back up again before I stop believing it.

Episode 1 was decent, but it reminded me that I should probably rewatch season 4 again...or at least the last episode. The end gave me some serious chills.

Episode 2 tho...
Never been divorced or even married, but the build up to Diane's monologue at the end was powerful and heartbreaking.

Spoilers for whole series
This was probably the best written and performed series of the show. So many great monologues.

I really appreciate Bojack Horseman being denied a self-flaggelating article. Challenging that martyr complex cycle is a good narrative choice.

Also, Mr. Peanutbutter is an asshole, damn. This season really made it clear that his behaviour in relationships is awful.

Princess Carolyn kinda got tha happy ending I wanted? She's got a hedgehog baby.

Accurate ratings.

Finished bringing a few hours ago, God damn this season messed me up. Very good topics and discussions to make especially on how we should reflect in our society let alone ourselves.

Though I felt this season was a little disorienting. But it's at a point where I feel like the show will end soon.

Mr. Peanutbutter is fucked up.

Oh man, Episode 4 is so great.

New avatar:

"I'm movie star Vance Wagonner, AND I HATE -- !"

Rami Malek is so damn good. Can't get enough Angela Bassett. And what an ending!
I just finished this episode. I was very surprised that
the tape about Penny finally came back
This season has been pretty great so far.

Better than season 4, not as good as season three.

I'm surprised they held back from bringing Penny back.
Bojack made a point that he didn't do anything with her since it was stopped. He's pained by the idea of what could had happened. If there was a me too moment for her the only thing they could try and tackle Bojack with was that he was taking advantage of her. It was an awful experience for both of them that Bojack wants to move from but can't and the same for Penny. To bring her to the forefront if she wasnt ready or willing would had been a terrible plot point.

the writing is still as great as ever. probably one of the funnier seasons, but i'd rate it just above 1.

let down there wasn't more hollyhock
the ending was fine but probably had the weakest impact out of any of the seasons.
feel like the strangling scene was just put there to "one-up" the other big e11 moments, i don't think bojack has ever been portrayed to have violent tendencies?

I meant more in such a way that she has made up her mind and wants call out BoJack, even anonymously. But yeah, thinking more about it, she probably feels some guilt about it, too.

The strangling thing kinda made sense though. The whole point of that episode was that reality and the show were blurring together in Bojack's mind, and his anger manifested itself in choking after having pills taken. Also how Philbert's violent misogyny reflected aspects of Bojack's life.

Just finished this season, some thoughts on it:

I feel like this season was funnier than the previous ones. Especially the first half got quite a few laughs out of me. However, the first half also felt kinda directionless to me, with the addiction plotline only really starting at episode 9 or so. This was also the first season where I was kinda put off by the "resetting" they do of bojacks progress after each season. I felt that season 4 ended on a really nice note so him just acting basically like before just felt really unsatisfying. I guess there was one scene where they show him trying to limit his alcohol intake but that was about it. I really wish they had put Bojacks addiction problems more at the forefront of this season, really showing him struggle with it, seeing him just swallow pills by the boatload really didn't have any impact at all, at least for me personally. We don't really see the effect of his addiction besides a few scenes. Him just driving into traffic literally seconds after bringing hollyhock to the airport was just kinda a waste of an otherwise powerful moment. I wish we had seen him struggle for at least a bit before that with we seeing how the withdrawal effects him and how dependent he actually was on the painkillers.
I don't know, it all just didn't feel very impactful to me. Neither did episode 11, which was also kind of a waste. Intercutting the scenes of what Bojack was doing with Philbert was somewhat clever at times, but also almost completely meaningless, with almost all Philbert scenes being played for laughs. That kind of stuff worked last season because the scenes they intercut were actually meaningful. Here it's kinda just there for decoration.
There was really nothing this season as impactful as the flashback episodes last season. That's really a shame, as I felt they really added some depth to the show. This season they kinda just coasted off of the same characters without really doing all too much with them. I don't know. They also really wasted their "fuck" on Gina. Nobody cares about Gina. Everybody knows she is not going to come back for the next season. I'd much rather have seen one of the main cast get more of a spotlight. I also really thought Diane would be more freaked about after finding about Bojack and Penny, so that was kinda a disappointment. That's probably still the worst thing Bojack has done so far (besides sleeping with Sarah Lynn, but that wasn't featured all too prominently so far) so I also just wished that that would have been a more important plot point.
I just would have liked to see some more development. Maybe starting right away with the addiction storyline, him trying to get off of the painkillers, failing, intentionally hurting himself so he can get more, again trying to get off of them, relapsing because of some trauma, maybe even overdosing, then going to rehab. Just some more focus on Bojack and a bit more continuity.

I overall still really liked it, but not as much as the previous season(s).

i think it also brings out the idea that the philbert character is normalizing all of these shitty actions

They started off fast with Diane and Mr. Peanutbutter, I figured the season would lead up to their divorce, not have it already happen. I'm glad we got to see Bojack smile when talking to Hollyhock. It's a good start to the season, onward to episode 2

There's a background gag in the final couple episodes of the season that I am shocked hadn't happened yet; it's so obvious. You'll know it when you see it.

Stephanie Beatriz is totally channeling Rosa Diaz here. It's uncanny.
Rosa is treated so much better than Gina's characters that it almost feels like counter-casting to make a point that TV could be better (because B99 is and very little else can match).

Watched episode 6, gonna watch the rest tomorrow.
because I can't watch anymore. This episode was great. Fucking hell, I didn't expect the whole episode was gonna be a stream of consciousness like that, but it worked so well. This season has been quite strong so far.
