That's reassuring. I only read some posts in here talking about the length and that worried me. Glad to know that is wrong.
Its not "wrong". That you can finish the game in 12 hours is pretty much a fact unless GameXplain is lying. That it takes some people 20 hours should not be surprising considering it took some people hundreds of hours to finish the main game when some people have completed in 60~70.

Man Mythra starts out so rude, I think I love it

The game looks so much better, whatever little improvements they made to the engine have made a huge difference, at least in docked mode. The game looks much sharper and the some of the UI improvements are nice, though I wish you could hide the vanguard/rearguard select icons when out in the field.

30 minutes in and I'm already liking it more than the base game. I like the cast, the half-jazz soundtrack, the combat system, the faster customization, even the graphics seem to have improved.
Portable mode doesn't look like complete shit this time. But what I really love is the absence of Pyra and Rex... holy shit I won't miss those two.

I only got my second party member but the rhythm of the combat feels really good. Have to get used to not being able to spam arts (yet), though :D

So I just made it to Torigoth and while iI expected the story to be depressing it's just so ruthless

Warning to people playing through: you need to expand your Community to level 2 to progress the main story. This takes a significant number of quests, so keep doing them as you play the story.

Anyone know if the save data for the physical and the digital versions are compatible? I double dipped on this so I am curious. I ask because the expansion pass version is opened though the Xenoblade 2 main game menu and obviously the physical version will have its own icon on the Switch.

I don't think we will know until the physical version actually releases in a week.

I would guess they're not.

They are.

But you're asking the question wrong. You want to know if the expansion pass version is compatible with the standalone retail version which it clearly can't be.

Yeah I guess I am. I forgot that there was a digital version of the stand alone release. Doesn't really change anything on my end since I really just bought the game physical to own it but it would have been nice.

One hour in, about to head to Gormott. Too early to tell how good this is, but it feels really cool to see the backstory of Jin (and Mythra is awesome, of course).

Lora is a lovely character: she's cute and gentle, but her voice is strong. That's a relief, I worried she would be annoying.

Addam is also interesting. He looks fun and smart, like an improved Rex. His voice actor is also great, though his voice doesn't quite fit the char design (someone already mentioned it in this thread and I agree).

I also love the little touches they added to things like the collection point icons. For those that are in no hurry to beat the game, I recommend looking around the first area, because it is filled with collection points and treasure chests. This is nice, because the camp feature offers many options for crafting and cooking stuff and you'll need lots of materials.

I love Addam's voice but it doesn't really match his design. I'll probably get used to it.:P

At times his voice resembles Matt Berry from the IT Crowd, it's amazing.:D
Lol the matt berry thing has made me consider of buying this today instead of waiting.
I love his voice and it would actually be amazing if he was the voice actor, probably not but its not the first time matt berry has voiced games. He was the story narrator of one of the worms games.

I hope the story swerves at some point. It's kind of boring playing this when it's already made clear what happens to everyone.

I'm in Torigott now and really liking it so far. Seems like Monolith has cut no corners when it comes to presentation and battle system. Things get introduced really fast though and the game assumes you already know who some characters are, so I'm not sure how easy it is to play for newcomers. Really liking the battle system and now I wish the switching dynamic was part of the main game too.

The party interactions have been pretty great so far, especially the ones between Mythra and Jin. Just made it to Gormott with 4 hours clocked so far.

Haven't played the main game, but this is kinda interesting me more; would it be fine to just play this, or to play it before the main game? (I guess it can't be worse than playing FF X-2 before X, which I did, lol)

Not sure this makes sense :D

You can play this right now. That is their DLC practice lol.
I mean it's anti consumer imo the way that say "week later unless you buy the expansion pass now, which requires the base game.

Same for the tomb raider shit this week. Seems to becoming more common and extreme, battlefield releases a week later unless you buy edition X.

Everyone is scolding Mythra left and right

Maybe that wasn't the rigth word but they sure don't like putting up with her attitude.

On the other hand, I've seen a few graphical glitches here and there. Nothing ruinous but noticeable nonetheless. Maybe they'll be patched out by next week and we Expansion Pass owners are guinea pigs.

I took a picture of my end game save screen (No spoilers but I won't embed in case anyone doesn't want to see the full party)

This is not what anti consumer is lol

Please.
Erm why is it not? Cause it doesn't follow the guidelines of some definition you'll cite?

It's a practice meant to incentivise you into buying the same product in a way that is more beneficial to the business
  • Get you to buy something digital (which is a huge win both short term and long term)
  • Get you to straight up spend more money for the same product
And all they have to do is delay their product a few days for the people who won't pay up. Now it's for a week. How long until it's a month? How is this pro consumer in your mind?

Question: If I buy the Physical copy, can I use the download code for the Expansion pass to install the Digital version of the game?

It sounds like undocked mode is actually decent compared to Xeno2's not so great performance?

Eh, I'm okay with Monolith Soft rewarding the people who supported them by letting them play the latest Xeno game a little bit early. :p

Can anyone confirm if I'm correct on the pricing here? Stand alone is $40, expansion pass is $30?

So if you have the base game you should get the expansion pass instead of stand alone, unless you plan on selling the game or something, which would then cause you to lose access to it where standalone would not.

I was initially a little surprised, but I think it makes sense, just checking if that is correct.
