What do you reckon to there being a new stage along with Izz? Know there's already three AC stages buuuut we can speculate! I reckon something similar to the Tomodachi Life stage or Luigis Mansion, all fighting on a villagers house, being able to drop through two levels and onto the roof etc. Could be a different villagers house each time, maybe with some furniture being interactive/disruptive.

Oooor maybe an Onett like stage based off Main Street from New Leaf, fighting on the roofs of shops etc. Maybe the shops could be laid out differently each time you play, similar to how Main St. looked different in each New Leaf town.

Any other thoughts? Maybe something indoors?

What the fuck at the isabelle haters.
Im not even a huge animal crossing fan but she has a HUGE fan following, and its a big female favourite. The girl students from my master were all ecstatic and some of them never played smash.

Im really happy for her fans, and she is an incredible adorable character so Im happy as well, the way he reacts in her trailer and gameplay is 10/10

The funnier haters are the ones that wanted more seriousness and edginess. Get the fuck out of here.

Have we already talked about how perfect this screenshot is in this thread?

I can't get over her face, how scared she is, and how devastating the attack seems to be for link. The entire image, every pixel, is just so delightful to me. I'm going to love this game so much.

I hope she's more accessible to use than The Villager, it would be a shame if both Animal Crossing characters catered to the more skilled players only rather than a range of playstyles.

Serious question: What does it mean to 'waifu' a cartoon dog? I'm not trying to insult anyone I just don't understand it.

Or really, what does it mean to 'waifu' anyone?

Uuuuuuhhh... no, they aren't. There are young adults, adults, and old males and females.

The only kids are Nook's nephews.

You shouldn't need to entertain this. Anyone posting about the darker side of fan art in regards to any character is just here to be a hater and derailing.
If we used that as a reason to dislike something then we would dislike every damn fictional character.

Isabelle is my favorite. Even if the reveal was an emotional rollercoaster.

Thinking about it now, all the non-echo newcomers have been either current major Nintendo characters (Inkling, Isabelle) or characters who were big at some point in Nintendo's past (Ridley, Simon, K Rool). I don't think there's any reason to expect randos like Skull Kid or whoever to show up at this point
Ridley was just the final boss of a metroid game that came out less than a year ago, ans has been in akmost every metroid game, not part of the past.

yeah the occasional positioning of Ridley as some kind of retro fan favorite like K. Rool is kinda weird

he's a mainstay and he's not going anywhere

It means to objectify female characters.

im pretty sure its used ironically to mean characters that you're infatuated with, and has more to do with the personality and character design than sexual attraction. At least that's how ive seen it used more often than not and would be kind of surprised if its not. Does anyone use "waifus" or "husbandos" unironically?

It's quite annoying to see people framing Isabelle as a waifu character. Like, way to make it all about guys and ignore all of the female fans who just, you know, like Isabelle

Pretty much, plus dudes who just like animals and adorable characters. Frankly the very idea of seeing her as a "waifu" is kind of gross to me, let alone being conceptually unable to see her as anything else.

yes at your question, a lot of really gross people do, which is why it's even weirder that you're trying to twist it into a form of ironic endearment/infatuated with. you can say you like a character without having to use the word "waifu", you know.

trying to twist it? I just said that's how I understand its use, so you're just being intentionally obtuse

It seems like a bunch of people on here are incapable of expressing themselves unironically

you're the one who provided this alternate description for "waifu" and seem to imply that nobody uses it any other way. the fact you had to ask if there were people who used it non-ironically tells me you know that its supposed to be a objectifying term and you would rather believe you're pacifying the term by using it ironically.

You tell that person who shared what he thought was an answer to a question and asked to be informed if he was wrong. What a weirdo.

Edit: Sorry, posted this before your second post. That's not how you communicate with other people when you disagree with what they're saying, especially if you want them to see things your way. You're obviously just looking to argue with somebody on this topic.

what part of "at least thats how I understand it" implies that nobody uses it another way? its pretty plainly stated and now you're trying to turn it into a fucking drama.

alright, i'm sorry for coming at this completely wrong. i came off a bit aggressive and i dont think it really helped anyone. i just really dont like the term and i dont like excuses for people to use it either, but you're right in that pixel just believed it differently and hadnt really seen it that way before. my apologies.

You not liking the term doesn't allows you to attack anyone who uses it. I've seen it used mostly for cute characters (p. Ej Mio from K-ON) and, ironically enough, for objectified male characters with its husbando variant.

That's mostly my enviroment of course, but everyone has its own definition/use for waifu and husbando, and if it's not used in a creepy way i think it's ok.

In handhelds Animal Crossing sells better than any Smash. I am pretty confident it will happen, when is the only question.

I'll say by the end of 2020 it will exceed Smash.

Huh? New Leaf sold 11.78 million copies, Smash 3DS sold 9.3 million.
Thing is, Smash 3DS had some huge problems:

- It had a split fanbase between the handheld and console versions.
- Handheld version had the perception of being the inferior one (Rightfully so)
- Smash 4 is a more divisive game overall than Smash Ultimate.

Smash Ultimate is not only the best Smash Bros game content-wise, it's also coming at the height of a popular platform, the Switch, and without any sort of competition with another Console.

We're talking about potentially a 20M+ territory, Animal Crossing hasn't proved to be that big.

I do think Animal Crossing have a chance to reach 10M+ again so I don't think you should underestimate the franchise tho.

Acting like someones aggressively condescending therapist was never going to convince anyone of anything. When my sister played Uncharted and started jokingly referring to Nate as her husband I didn't think it was any different, but I guess it depends on the types of people you interact with.

Isabelle joins the roster! She is legit too much for me right now. This is my new main. A new Animal Crosisng rep and a new game! I hope they release a full version of this poster when it's complete.

I know I don't need to do more to feed the situation but my brain can't help it

The characters in Animal Crossing are clearly adults doing adult life things

except for Tom Nook's kids who are smaller and speak in a higher pitched voice than any other characters

Even the player character is pretty heavily implied to be y'know a young adult who has just left their parents' to get a place of their own for the first time

Isabelle is the embodiment of the hardworking loyal secretary archetype; she is an adult with a job and a fair bit of job experience at that

It's like y'all's motherfuckers have never heard the word "chibi" before

Isabelle is a great pick, but I wish they made her 100% unique. She's almost there, she just needed a little more!
