Was a B. They showered us with games. I'm not interested in most of them but LM3, all dat FF goodness and Animal Crossing were awesome.
Was close to give it a C just for that online shit alone though.

Animal Crossing is huge for me and I'm super duper excited just knowing it's coming in 2019. I think the leaks and rumors kind of spoiled the direct a bit, but that couldn't be helped and I'm glad Nintendo took the time they need. Only thing I was a touch bummed about was not seeing Fire Emblem more, but I'm more than happy with what we got.

Everything but Nintendo Online service was fantastic. Yoshi is better than I could have imagined, TOWN has me curious and excited, and both Luigi's Mansion 3 and Animal Crossing 2019 are exactly the announcements I wanted to hear.

There's always going to be more that I want, but that's all around Metroid Prime 4, SMTV, FE Three Houses, etc. and these are known quantities, so it's only a matter of time before they get their bigger reveals.

C. Lots of things we already knew about, which is fine I guess, not a real detractor there. 3ds section was a disappointment. Luigi 3 was only announced because plenty of people are still disappointed the remake of 1 is a fucking 3ds game.

But the real con that lowered my score tremendously? The Nintendo Online section. Delayed for months and it's still half assed. Good job.

Pros: Warframe in November! I was convinced it was gonna be 2019. Animal Crossing (hell yes.) Isabelle in Smash (hell. Yes.). Luigi 3.

Edit: and of course MP4 has been MIA for too long.

Im okay, but could have more 3rd party annoucements. Was poorly.

No Pokémon 2019 info, No Metroid info, No Fire Emblem info

And the pooooooorly online system again. I would be shame to show something like dat.

Exclusive offers that they dont even know after almost 1 year of announcement?

Cloud data be erased after the signature expires.

And the persistence about talk in mobile. THIS IS A RAELLY JOKE

JESUS CHRIST, NINTENDO! @_@

Glad with others.

D. I own all those FF games, some multiple times, and playing then portably has zero appeal. Also not an Animal Crossing or Yoshi fan and Nintendo Online didn't knock my socks off. LM3 is whatever. The original was decent for the time but it's not something I needed more of. DxM looks really fucking cool but we knew that already.

I voted for option A.

Although I didn't get a chance to watch this Direct, the fact that Luigi's Mansion 3 was announced made it worthy of that vote.

I might be wrong then. I don't think I had seen that presenter before so I assumed it was the new president :/

I wasn't sure myself! I just looked up the video though and it was indeed Takahashi-san.

President Furukawa:

Shinya Takahashi, General Manager for Nintendo's Entertainment Planning and Development Division:

Easily a B+. Would have been higher if the leaks didn't happen and the online subscription was better. The future of Nintendo switch looks amazing!

The highlight was some FF games deemed PS console exclusives coming to a Nintendo Platform. Eh.

That said, I'm keeping my eyes on Town. Like the idea, but it's GF.

B+, but my heart says A. People mock the endless ports and remakes, but I think it's hard to underestimate what a cultural shift that is for Nintendo. Indies and older titles were the one thing that would have saved the Wii U, but Nintendo stuck steadfastly behind its first party schedule and cosy relationships with Japanese devs. Now we're getting board games, new arcade releases, a slew of Western indies, and a really interesting pallet of sequels and original IPs. Europe is even getting Katamari Damacy for the first time!

Nintendo Online is going to suck because the infrastructure sucks, but this is Nintendo we're talking about. Everything we've seen so far is already a minor miracle.

There were quite a few things I wasn't interested in during the Direct.

But that's okay! They had something in there for everyone it seems, ranging from new IP to new entries in beloved franchises to a new game announcement for 3DS.

The only thing I had slight hope for was something Golden Sun related because of the copyright stuff but again that could just be nothing in the end.

2019 for the Switch is going to be insane.

D+. Luigi's mansion and NSMB port are mildly interesting announcements but I couldn't care less about everything else that was in there, including late ports that I have or will have on other systems.

I voted for A, but really it was an SS+++ for me. Best Direct ever and better than any E3 for me. Started with Luigi's Mansion, continued with that new RPG from Game Freak, and then the Final Fantasy megatons, and concluded with Isabelle in Smash troll and Animal Crossing 2019 announcement.
It still feels surreal to me!

A very solid B from me.

Would have needed one of these Prime 4 trailer, Bayo 3 trailer, Prime HD trilogy or a couple of big third party announcements (ports or current gen ones) to hit that A-grade.

Not bad at all :>

good Direct. got the 3DS out of the way with the quickness, Luigi's Mansion 3, that Animal Crossing segment was a hilarious troll, new Splatoon stuff, all the Final Fantasies, they're continuing to support Mario Tennis Aces, Katamari Reroll this year, new Gamefreak IP looks interesting, and Civ VI

good stuff all around

I thought it was great. Lots of games I'm excited for, and I had FFXV Pocket Edition downloading before I even finished the direct.

Great pace.

Historical Direct with Civilization + lot of Final Fantasy.

I just think the GameFreak game deserved a better trailer with less narration and more mystery.

It was up there with the best.

Starting with Luigi Mansion 3 and closing with Animal Crossing, New GameFreak IP and tons of Final Fantasy titles announced in the middle and a killer beat-em-up compilation.

This Direct was talking to me as fuck.

Voted A. The port narrative is weird since i can't play civ6 or cities skylines portably with my existing copies.

And bo one thought those 2 games were possible either.

Medium. Not much surprises except for Luigi Mansion 3 which looked really the same as the other parts. Yet another WiiU port and x ports from other platforms.

Also.. 2 NES controllers for the price of a NES mini?!

Meh.

Edit: I liked Town, but it felt like a small RPG. Could be fun.

Yoshi looked great and loved the Square support/Capcom beat em up announcement.

But I'm still hungry for Bayo 3 and Metroid Prime 4 footage.

B to me. Some games, like Final Fantasy, leaked, and others, like Diablo and Warframe, should have been unveiled during the Direct. Also miss Arena of Valor and Gear.Club Unlimited 2. Still ahead of E3.

Daemon X Machina: Day One
Starlink: Wait for a Sale
Luigi's Mansion 3: Day One
Animal Crossing: Day One
Town: Day One
Pokemon Go: Day One
Nintendo Online: Day One only because I play online (Where the F is the ability to message friends)
Smash: Day One
Final Fantasy XV PE: Bought
Final Fantasy CC: Day One
Final Fantasy: VII, IX, X+X-2, XII: Wait for a Sale
Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon: Day One
Civ 6: Not interested
Diablo 3: Wait for Sale
TWEWY: Wait for Sale
Warframe: Day One
Cities: Skyline: Not interested
Yoshi: Day One

So overall there were 12 games I will buy on day 1, 2 games I won't buy, and 7 games I will wait for a sale. Not bad.

I gave it a B. Really liked Final Fantasy, Luigi's Mansion, and Animal Crossing annoucments. 2019 is looking solid. It was one of the better directs for this time period, and it beat the disappointing E3 announcement from this year, which was about 75 percent Smash Bros. with some other games sprinkled in.

I want D but I don't like animal crossing.

The two best announcements were for games that are already out, and on closer inspection it seems like the Splatoon 2 trailer really oversells its content.

Daemon x Machina had nothing new at all.

Luigi's Mansion didn't look good and they announced Animal Crossing with a title screen. I can't say that the presentation was great, but I'm excited about the prospect of those titles.

60$ for a NES controller is insulting, and their online service failed to impress.

Gonna give it a C.

I give it a C. As someone that only uses their Switch for exclusives it only had 2 I care about. NSMB which isn't even really exclusive and that new RPG from Game Freak. Everything else was either stuff I am not interested in or stuff I already own on PS4/Xbox and would never buy for Switch. I needed to see Metroid or the new Pokemon. I will say that for someone that isn't in the same situation as me it was a great direct, just not for me personally.

Also the price for those controllers, I fucking lost it laughing. Like get out of here with that.

B: Very Good Direct with a few issues

It's a pity most of the surprises had been revealed before the Direct, but given the horrible circumstances that led to its delay, it's understandable. I feel I got both my bases covered: great games on 3DS, great games on Switch.

Anyway, Nintendo continues to be doomed, though. Wouldn't be Nintendo otherwise.

What is up with no Dark Souls Remastered? Is that game still coming? It was my most anticipated game of the summer...now...I am not sure.

I really liked the new stuff but I am honestly so overwhelmed by the amount of ports of old games that it sort of drowns out the new stuff. I know that this is a temporary problem though because eventually the Switch will have every port it can handle and third parties can start making some more unique games. As someone who owns a PS4 and PC, I have trouble getting excited about all these ports. This is despite the fact that I will probably be getting most of those FF games again on Switch. It's cool, but it doesn't get me hyped.

Was a solid B for me.

Luigi's Mansion 3, the last Smash/Animal Crossing segment and Final Fantasy Deluge made it for me. It would have been even more effective last week if Crystal Chronicles HD and Civilization VI hadn't been leaked.

If I had to nitpick some things:
- Animal Crossing being a logo announcement was mildly disappointing because my interest in it hinges on its town building/management elements and Pocket Camp integration.
- The Online Service stuff is annoying on many levels: The game library being limited to NES games so far sucks and makes the dripfeeding even worse. Them going "tell you next time" about the special discounts is hilariously out of touch. But the continued existence of the mobile app is the biggest let down. It is just a subpar system with its only saving grace being its price and the NES library as of now.
- The pacing was off in the middle, mainly because of the online stuff. If the service itself was more appealing, it would have worked but this way I was just waiting for it to be over.
- Two of the games, namely Cities Skylines and Warframe, looked really rough performance wise. Not exactly the kinda games I'd single out.
- The board game stuff really had no place in this Direct, imo. However, Catan, yo.

$60 for two NES controllers, it's a bundle. Considering it's $45-50 for an Xbone/PS4 pad, that really isn't that bad.

It was Ok, nothing spectacular and the only thing that got me excited was Luigi's Mansion 3. AC is not a game for me anymore (enjoyed the hell out of it back on my NDS) and Isabelle is a meh choice for Smash.

I still can't believe its 2019 and they haven't ported World of Warcraft to consoles yet, obviously you couldn't play on the same level of someone with mouse and keyboard you'd think they'd have found some way to port a version of it.

I can't believe there is a possibility that one of todays consoles won't have any MMORPG at all :|
