I wish it was coming to Switch :<. I absolutely loved Epic Yarn and that artstyle deserves better than 240p. Better than nothing I suppose.

This is actually a great announcement. best Kirby game ever imo. the art style will make up for 3DS's lack of power too.

My least-favorite Kirby game after Dreamland 3 and Squeak Squad. I'll still get it to check out the new additions, though. Meta Knight and DeDeDe look fun.

I'm not sure the 3DS is the best replacement for the Wii (or GC, really), but nice for those who for some reason need this sort of thing.

I own but have not ever played the Wii version. I wonder how this will control on the 3DS.

I almost don't want to buy any 3DS game in 2019 just on principle alone. It is almost unreal how many ports and things they have churned out the past couple years.

Bunch of downers in here. I can't wait, Yoshi's Epic Yarn was a lot of fun, and now it is portable? Yes, please.

A great little game for sure. Pick it up if you don't already own it on the Wii.

What principle would that be?

Hey they finally made it into a real game as opposed to collect beads for the sake of collecting them. There wasnt even any bead threshold or challenges you had to pass to progress in the story.

The game should have always had a difficulty option like this alongside minigames.

Game looked great and has some new stuff, wish it were coming out on the switch. Glad 3DS owners have some stuff to look forward to.

Really fun game, definitely worth checking out. I might get it on 3DS but honestly, I played it on Wii as a co-op experience and I'd love to have it on Switch for that. Would've been a great fit for split joy-con play.

Epic Yarn was severely underrated, I'm happy that Nintendo is revisiting it. I love the 3DS but this game really deserves a modern HD treatment. The fabric textures already looked great on Wii, would love to see them on more modern hardware.

Here's the box art for the game. It's a really big image:

I completely understand why this is a 3DS port: 3DS is still selling and Nintendo needs to keep supporting it, which means it's port time.

I'll never be one of those ridiculous people complaining that 3DS is still getting games. But man, this is a game that is begging for an HD remaster and has been one of my most wanted for years. Epic Yarn is one of the best games of last gen and I hope it hits Switch eventually.

I'll still get this as well. Epic Yarn with new stuff? In.

I'll be getting this. I love Epic Yarn, and I think it being on a handheld would make me love it even more.

This is a day one buy for me. I have been heavily into playing all the Kirby games lately. They are basically all great so far, one of the best series in Nintendo consoles overall imo.

It should control fine. Most of the motion controls could be done with the shoulder buttons/D-pad. The exception being the train segments, which will most likely use the touch screen for drawing the tracks.

Is it safe to say this is hitting 3DS instead of Switch due to the original assets being 480p quality, therefore easier to rework for 3DS than Switch?

Never been exactly clear on how the original visuals were rendered, part of what makes them so alluring in a way. Sure it'll be one of the 3DS's best looking games as it was for the Wii!

i think it's great that nintendo is extending 3DS's life with these ports. it's good for them to have a cheaper product on the shelves until they can cut switch's price and make it more affordable.

Apparently this is New 3DS exclusive? Weird that this wasn't really communicated. Guess everyone's got the new one.

I dont think most people are that upset that the 3DS is getting games, just that those games aren't also on Switch. Capitan Todd's re-release strategy should be what Nintendo does for all of these games, that way neither console misses out.

You tried it.
I... don't even see the point in this.

Epic Yarn was cute visually but the game was so dull. If they're bring Wii/GC games (to either 3DS or Switch), why all the 2nd-tier titles like Luigi's Mansion and Epic Yarn, and not the ones everyone actually wants like Mario Sunshine and the Baten Kaitos games?

I mean, I've got a New 2DS XL, so I'm able to play it. But not mentioning that this is New models exclusive in the direct is rather ... bad.
I'm certain that there are still a lot of people only owning a standard 3DS or planning on playing this on their 2DS or something. Already know someone who planned to play it on the 2DS and now this seems impossible. Quite shitty.

The Nintendo website listing seems to be an error. No other indication that it is a New 3DS exclusive.

It's most definitely an error. We already have the box art.

It would be nice but it's not realistic. Porting the game to two platforms requires a larger budget and more manpower. They have to weight whether or not they think it will be worth it for their bottom line.

Epic Yarn seems strange but in most cases like Luigi's Mansion and Mario & Luigi, there is an engine already on 3DS that makes it "easier" for them to do. More work would need to be put into a Switch version as a game that looks like the 3DS version wouldn't be acceptable.

Oh, ok. It being an error would be reassuring. And yeah, the box art doesn't match other New exclusives.

Mario Sunshine would have problems of control and Baten kaitos would not make sense, the games that continue to be released are designed for the demographics of children who have 3DS because it is cheap.

Luigi's Mansion reuses the engine of Luigi's Mansion 2 and Epic Yarn is probably the same as Wolly World, so they are very easy ports to make.

In addition, Kirby Epic Yarn sold four times more than Baten Kaitos so ''everyone actually wants'' is false. It also had better reviews

Also those later 3DS game work as a sort of advertisement for Switch games (or future Switch games). Captain Toad and Kirby indirectly advertise Odyssey and Star Allies, while Samus Returns, Hey! Pikmin, FE Echoes and Wario Ware Gold remind the 3DS demographic that 2D Metroid, Pikmin, Classic Emblem and WarioWare exist and if they want more in the future they should buy a Switch.
I kinda wish to see a F-Zero X 3DS using Star Fox 64 3D engine. That would be a proof Nintendo is still interested in the F-Zero franchise.

In the near future I can see Wario Land Shake (using Epic Yarn engine) and Kirby's Return to DreamLand (using Triple Deluxe engine) getting a port.
