No, it is called "licensing fees are the hell of re-releases"

Pretty much is is a "best of beat em up" that capcom could release without paying 1 cent to anyone else
Warriors of Fate is based on a manga, Tenchi wo Kurau, but Capcom made 4 games based on it so they probably have a good relationship with the author or something.

I got to play Armored Warriors at a random arcade like once and loved it.
Can't wait to pick this one up!
All of the games are going to have online? Great!

I do hope they do another release with some of the licensed titles.
DnD is probably one of my all-time favorite Beat em ups.

I can see the licensing talks for AvP being difficult because games have been made for those franchises in recent years,
but it's not like we are drowning in Punisher and DnD games or something.

They might have some luck next year when AvP will be owned by the same Disney that owns the Punisher but Cadillacs & Dinossaurs rights are a COMPLETE MESS

Hilarious that seeing this during the direct really got me pumped up. Alof of those games really bring out the nostalgia for me, great price at $20. Will be getting this immediately. The Dungeons and Dragons Arcade Beat-em ups from a few years ago that they released on PS3 and 360 was some of my favorite classic side scrolling games of all time, just loved the detail and art style so much.

It probably won't, but I really hope Battle Circuit has a flash reduction option. Every character has a team powerup move they can do twice per life that's very useful, but when you do it the screen flashes the character's color for several seconds.

This was quite the surprise. I'm so glad it's coming to EVERYTHING right off the bat, too.
Battle Circuit and Armored Warriors are fantastic gets, they definitely push the collection even higher.

I constantly want to re-play Knights of the Round (love the sounds, the SNES version, etc), and King of Dragons was fun on PSP, but I ALSO really like the SNES version there, and have great memories of it. Playing the Arcade more seriously because of the PSP collections was great, but no MP on even a Vita TV sucked.

I wish this was like the SNK 40th collection, which is including console versions alongside arcade. BUT for $20, there's really no room to complain almost at all.

I'm mostly happy Capcom is showing a willingness to actually work with these kind of games. It seems so few and far between, that they think about porting unreleased-to-console classics. Now we get 2 at the same time? If ANYTHING in gaming needs to start a trend, LET IT BE THIS.

Switch basically seems to be the XBLA of this generation, eh? It enables an increased interest in games that probably wouldn't be released, without the service making these things potentially profitable, which helps them actually HAPPEN.

The commercial license games can still come later. I could see those getting bigger remakes if they're going to bother to relicense them, y'know? With all the previous gen titles that also are BC on XB1, I don't think any other consoles have ever let me have honest ports of this many BEUs. And with the option of Online play! This is actually cheap enough to buy a copy for a friend and force them into a few rounds of play! *cackle*

Between this, Streets of Rage 4 and Ninja Warriors Again, this has been a very good time to be a Side-scroller brawler/Belt Scroll Action game fan. Love this.

I called it. Once I saw the Street Fighter Collection, and how well it was received and how well it played, I knew Capcom had good CPS-1, CPS-2, and CPS-3 emulators in their hands. It was only a matter of time before they started releasing themed collections of their rich arcade catalog.

Of course, licensed stuff is gonna troll, hard. Especially since those are some of the best games. (Punisher beat em up is fantastic.) Which is why it will be pretty difficult for us to see, for example, a "Marvel Fighter Collection" that has everything from Children of the Atom to MvC1.

In any case, this is an amazing collection, just came back from a weekend with some buddies where all we did was play 16-bit era beat em ups. This would have been perfect.

With game bundles like this rooftop parties may not be a meme. I could legit see hitting up a friends place just bringing my switch and folks crowding in on it with me to play beat em ups. Me an my buddy Bill went in hard when Konami rereleased the Xmen Arcade title back in the day. Good times. This bundle though...hooboy. Next level lineup.

And then Armored Warriors and Battle Circuit appeared.

They still gotta get on their licensed brawlers. It makes up half their notable brawler library for chrissakes.

Someone sell me on Battle Circuit. Why is it such a standout in the genre? I'm not familiar with it at all.

As we see more of the types of Collections, its starting to make sense why we arent seeing a Virtual Console anymore. Third parties have the flexibility and control to release their content where, when and however they like, and im ok with this.

Bring on Captain Commando!

It's Capcom's final classic beat-em-up, and in terms of the more technical style of game they started making from Punisher onwards, it's the only one that's not a licensed title.

It's also much more colorful and goofy than their other beat-em-ups, even Captain Commando. There's also a shop system and some other neat little touches, and it's not a crazy difficult game, either.

I been gushing for pages.
  • Crazy animations and lively characters from enemies to bosses.
  • Not a throwaway story. You get really fun characterization from its enemies and plot like an old campy comic book
  • You earn money for missions and by collecting it from enemies. This lets you level up your abilities. In other words YOU UNLOCK MOVES.
  • Games moves are done fighting game style and since its capcom you end up having insane combo potential and can get super flashy with relatively low skill level
  • Soundtrack is great
  • 4 player simultaneous is so wild and colorful. Each character is paletted to stand out from the rest and each has animations designed to be distinctly different in personality and even in arcs than the rest of the cast. A ton went into this. From staticy fighter guy stuff from the blue guy to tentacle stuff from the green plant, to lungy zig zag stuff from the pink bird to even morphing into shapes and ice stuff from good ol Captain Silver. Its all very very very distinct and hard to lose your character in a crowd.
  • Hidden Secret 8th level boss
You need 3,200,000 points, and you have to get 1,000 coins or 6
    upgrades to fight Master Program.
This game is fucking great. I gush over it. It feels flashy, doesn't get dull, and is always quirky and fun.
