I'm interested to know if the same folks made both videos. As in, did they have someone else handle these entirely, ask the current CG production crew (forget their name rn) to do both, or what? It would just be interesting if the Smash cutscene folks had to put that Nook bit together as the transition to the AC announcement.
I don't think the salt is skull kid related, some folks are just salty at Isabelle full stop.

With Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing, I think people are going to start scanning any new Smash trailers for any potential hints at a new game. Granted I don't think there are that many Smash trailers left so the Castlevania and Animal Crossing ones might be the only ones connected to new games.

Even if Skull Kid just gets to team with Young Link, I'm happy. But I think Fierce Deity will be Young Link's FS, as Link had the costume in 4.
I'm thinking we're going to get 2 more unique Nintendo fighters and 2 Third Parties 1 more semi. Don't know about Echo Fighters.
Elma: Xenoblade X was in the perfect position to be considered for Ultimate and maybe even DLC. I'm thinking she was one of the characters they considered to put in Smash 4 as the promotional DLC character and Sakurai probably subbed her in because of that.
Gen 7 Pokemon/Incineroar: Pretty much the most guaranteed Nintendo newcomer. Don't have much to say other than that.
Square rep: Could be Dragon Quest, could be Geno, could be Sora. I dunno I just think it's likely based on rumors.
Banjo Kazooie: I think this will be the ace newcomer they want to leave on. I have no doubt that Banjo was the most highly requested third party newcomer during the Ballot and he seems like prime material for a great big bang newcomer.
Dixie Kong: She'll be paired up with the renaming Echoes but receives her own slot.
Shadow: Easiest Echo prediction lol
Ken: Other easy Echo prediction lol. I was thinking he could be Semi but I can't think of many ways he can be outside of a multihitting Shoryuken but that seems within Echo parameters.
So yeah around 16 newcomers seems like a solid bet only other character I can see them adding is Bandana Dee because I can see him being a similarly easy effort but I wouldn't count on it.

Also yeah new semi-clones confirmed is really great! Would be the best outcome for Dixie I think, as well as a few others. Still kinda left wishing they'd given Dark Pit a whack with the semi-clone stick, but whatever.

I mean music theory doesn't really account for a single series getting 2 newcomers, so I don't think it has any bearing on Dixie.

Oh speaking of AC, I do kinda wish they would have implemented time-of-day for Tortimer Island this time around only because my most fond memories of going there took place at night when I was hauling fat stacks of beetles home to sell the next day :<

I forgot to bring another rumor into this roundup since it slipped by.
FZeroMaster on Gamefaqs claimed a week ago that Isabelle and Incineroar would be fighter #68 and #69 respectively. They also mentioned that a lot of newcomer lists out there are "completely off base", and that there are some more after #69.

I wonder if more Final Fantasy characters could be part of Ultimate now that basically all the older FF games are coming. Sephiroth? Zidane? Tidus?
If we're truly not getting any more stages then it's a safe assumption that any newcomers won't need a corresponding stage.
That knocks out any unrepresented IP such as Golden Sun or Rhythm Heaven (as well as third party series like Tekken, DMC and DQ), and characters that should really bring a stage along from their game such as Elma and Geno.

Random question but has Nintendo ever announced a port that's not in a Nintendo Direct? Cause I would believe they could pull a Robin/Lucina in October do a solo newcomer announcement and maybe announce a Xenoblade X port at the same time but I would think they would do it in a Direct.

Not enough beloved character murder in the Isabelle reveal. There's a standard I've come to expect from these Smash Newcomer trailers.

honestly after seeing isabelle i was thinking incineroar being next anyway but....I mean I also though Incineroar would be 68 since I was bracing myself for echo isabelle
it'll be interesting to see if they do anything specila in October or if it'll be a quiet month for smash.
It seems they have the right to the song considering it's used in Xenoblade 2 so it's possible even if she isn't in.
