I mean I think in this case it's fair when like the entire wii u is being ported in terms of games. If you had a wii u and got these, it makes the switch line up looks a lot lighter.
It's difficult to make a Direct to please everyone, and unless they include literally every announced title there's always going to be a bunch of "Where's XXX?". And I get that, because I'm all "Where's Metroid / Bayonetta?". People also have a tendency to have inflated expectations on what a Direct will contain, or should contain based on their own market projections. Like, "Oh, Nintendo hasn't talked much about 2019, so there must be Metroid, Retro, Bayonetta, and XXX". This hasn't been the case for a very long time, as Nintendo has made it blatantly obvious they'll literally just announce things on a whim if they feel like it, and are beholden to nobody when it comes to updates. This Direct also suffered from the delay and announcements thus coming from third parties during the week instead of the Direct itself.
Realistically though, in the span of 38 minutes, and if we ignore the unexpected delay and subsequent mess up of announcements, we got:

That is, in the grand scheme of things, a ton of shit to digest.
To me, it starts in summer 2018 with Octopath and the flood of indies. Being a JRPG fan and Japanese reader, September is nuts.People keep saying Switch 2019 is gonna be great, but personally the greatness fucking starts this fall. It's going to be an epic series of releases starting October.
This is only a big deal if you bought just about every first party release on WiiU, and if you did you're in the extreme minority. Most people didn't. I bet the majority of port sales are going to new owners with the exception of MK8. There are also now almost over 7 million more Switch owners than WiiU owners, so in the absolute worst case scenario WiiU ports are selling to a brand new market of potentially 7 million customers. The ports are gonna keep coming. Wouldn't surprise me to see 3D World, Wonderful 101, or Xenoblade X next.
I happen to be in that extreme minority. I get why they are porting. Doesn't mean it makes the game list any less light to me.The amount of people that owned a Wii U and bought ALL of these games already must be so miniscule. Yeah, maybe for them they're sick of these ports, but.. sucks to be them I guess?
People went crazy because metroid basically had nothing for years, and no one thought prime 4 would happen.I hate announcement of games with just a pending title logo. Of course, I'm talking about Animal Crossing. Feels like it was thrown there at the last minute. Last time people went nuts over the Metroid Prime 4 logo.
I kinda agree, but it's a 2019 release. We don't need to wait for 10 years for it.I hate announcement of games with just a pending title logo. Of course, I'm talking about Animal Crossing. Feels like it was thrown there at the last minute. Last time people went nuts over the Metroid Prime 4 logo.

HarmoKnight had tons of charm. I didn't get that vibe from Town, but it's still early of course.Only thing that got my attention was Isabelle in Smash and the new Game Freak game. The rest is pretty whatever.
Personally while I enjoyed it the week long wait did diminish my enjoyment. Also not sure what was in the direct that made it get delayed. Maybe that was cut as I remember someone on Twitter claiming that a specific game caused the entire direct to be pushed back.

Does Sony have fans that freak out if a franchise gets "ignored" by not having a game announced frequently enough or paid enough attention? I don't recall Parappa the Rapper fans melting down every E3 because Sony doesn't announce a new game because they thought fondly about the game as a child. People don't yell "FUCK SONY!" into the void because we don't get any new info about if a Twisted Metal game is currently or will be in development.
Nintendo fans seem like a special breed and sometimes the enthusiasm is a lot of fun when people are hyped, but when the whining, entitlement, and bitter rage comes out, I don't want to be anywhere near those type of Nintendo fans. People need to chill the F out!.
Well I didn't do too bad other than that the "and one more thing" reveal was AC instead of more on one of the already announced mega titles (and it was 24 hours and one week lol).milkyway said:I'm listing my predictions so I can look back in 24 hours and say "wow, I was so right":
- NSMBU Switch reveal Right
- More info/trailers for the following: Super Mario Party, Xenoblade Torna, Pokemon LG, Smash Ultimate, Yoshi, TWEWY, Luigi's Mansion 3DS, Mario and Luigi 3DS Right on everything
- No additional FE info, no additional Wii U ports unless... Right
- Zelda news of some sort, including possible Wii U ports. Could be big, could be trivial. Right, because LoZ is a NES game upcoming
- 1 teaser for only one of the following: Metroid Prime 4, SMT 5, Bayonetta 3 Wrong...
- A few third party port reveals including South Park Stick of Truth and maybe Spyro Sort of right, just not the ones listed, maybe this was already obvious
- No major news for Switch Online but it gets featured and we get some useless additional info Right
If I was being hopeful I'd say Metroid Prime Trilogy HD and some mind blowing teaser reveal like Animal Crossing but nah... Wrong!!!
Well if they showed gameplay back then, it would be very beta and then people would say that they are ruining metroid prime.I'm a big fan of the Metroid series, so I understand the feeling of finally getting another Metroid Prime. I would've love seeing some early footage and not just some logo at the end.
Utter shit seriously. To me, everything looked like shovelware, with half-assed budgets and seriously lacking any ambition. Weak stuff all around.
Swith will remain my Indie machine but geez Nintendo's output is so disappointing after an amazing 2017 year. So sad we have to wait even furher for greatness in the second part of 2019, maybe, hopefully.
If, IF, all the announced games to date get released, 2019 will haveSuper excited that they've announced AC but it seems pretty far off, right? I really want this game ASAP as it will be a game I play for a long time. It would have been a great way to start the year and continually play while I await other titles but... I'll take what I can get.
I think people Need to understand that (save some counting in 1 hand cases) Nintendo dont show projects thst are 3-4 years down the line like almost everyone else does.
So beat me where do they get this wild expectations, or what are they even expecting for?

literally thats all we know about these games. spare me that nonsense about nintendo not announcing stuff before they have stuff to show off. they do the same shit everyone else does
Hold that tought till i get home, I actually have a list of that o3oThey do it just as much as everyone else does, and others at least have the courtesy of putting together a CGI trailer or in-engine showing. When was the last time that Nintendo revealed a game, and released it in under 9 months, other than a port?
I didn't see pikmin or COD so nothing excited me.Only thing that got my attention was Isabelle in Smash and the new Game Freak game. The rest is pretty whatever.
Don't think Bayo, Metroid Prime, and SMT V are confirmed for 2019. They could but they could also easily slip into 2020.If, IF, all the announced games to date get released, 2019 will have
Fire emblem
Yoshi flip flop
Bayonetta 3
Metroid Prime 4
Ex Machina
Super mario bros U Switch
SMT V
Pokemon 2019
Luigis Mansion 3
Animal Crossing: Troll Edition
Any surprise left for the year we still have 1 more Smash Direct and The Video Games Awards
Likely October and November respectively
Then december off
And then January Direct for the 1st half of 2019
