I just watched the trailer of World of Horror with Jinju Ito and Lovecraft influences and black & white pixel art. It looks so good.
It was on the last PAX West, but there wasn't mention on the Nindie Showcase. We had 4 or 5 towerfall-like games but they left this game. Bad Nintendo, very bad.

Major Uninvited vibes, definitely want to check this one out.

World of Horror looks great, as does Dusk Diver albeit without any hint of gameplay. Will watch for those two.

Can't remember if I ever played Arcade Rygar, so that's another one to consider, though I suspect most of my retro dollars will be going to Sega Ages soon.

Probably going to grab Old School Musical today. Wouldn't mind a fun rhythm game with just-shy-of-infringement references.

Rygar is heavy on the nostalgia for me. A shop near my school had this and Side Arms, and we spent our lunch money on them every day. I'll probably grab it at some point.

Any crazy people using this in their Switch?

Nope, but I have a 400GB in there.

And it's full.

I've been waffling on the 400 but feel like it won't last long enough. The price on the 512 is crazy, but it's brand new. Have there been any good deals on the 400? I paid $72 in Feb '17 for the 200GB card, which I felt was fair at the time.

I got it in July for €130 from amazon.de - was on sale at the time.

Probably gonna wait to see if there's any megaton 'get it now' from the direct, but if not, I might jump on Wasteland 2.

Ten new eShop pages for NA:

MagiCat (September 20, $4.99)

Do we know anything about MagiCat? Looks cute. Came out on Steam a year ago, no MC reviews though.

I can only hope Switchmo is finally upon us. (Though I'm having a surprisingly great time with Super Lucky's Tale so would probably finish that first.)

Bastion was and always will be running smooth as butter

But some butter can be a bit chunky, especially on Switch.

Why is this the most common phrase when talking about framerates? One persons "smooth as butter" is a variable 30-60fps when another persons "smooth as butter" is a constant 60fps.

Ooooh, Armello! Have ALWAYS been interested in it...

Forgive my tangent: I misread this game as Armillo, which I always do. I don't think many people have heard of it, but Armillo was an indie 3D platformer on Wii U with shades of 3D Sonic and Mario Galaxy. Really lovely game and I always meant to play more of it.

I was looking up reviews on Metacritic, where it got a mere 72, but Nintendo Life gave it an 8/10, and my experience was akin to theirs. Their summary:

"A large amount of content, regular new gameplay additions that ensure the game doesn't get stale, a full second set of levels with completely different gameplay, and high replayability have all come together to create the newest must-have eShop title. The occasional framerate hiccups are a downer, but don't detract from the overall experience."

Full reviews and a few screens here. The game just had a really good feel to it, in controlling the character, and the level design and gameplay were very creative and engaging.

http://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/wiiu-eshop/armillo

Hopefully it comes to Switch sometime. I think it would see some success there. The Wii U indie scene did have some real gems, and some of those still haven't come to Switch yet (thinking of this game and also games like Kung Fu Rabbit, Scram Kitty and His Buddy on Rails, and more).

I guess tinyBuild saw how even Hamster can put their Neo Geo games on sale once in a blue moon, and have now been inspired to hold a sale of their own, their first ever on the Switch eShop IIRC. Most of their games are 20% off but beware that many have been reported to have framerate issues among other problems. Might want to do a little research before pulling the trigger on any of them.

smooth as butter is for when you don't have a framecounting sofwtare to actually hard-science confirm numbers but the game is running so solid and fluid that it just is that :D

I finished Bastion twice on 360 and have no idea if it was locked 60 or not, just that it was a flawless experience for me. I played the opening on Switch this morning before leaving for work and it felt identically flawless.

Hmmm...Immortal Redneck is 30% off. Pretty tempting at that price. Any recommendations from ERA?

It's not bad, certainly for that price. It is quite hard, so be prepared to die a lot! Progression is a bit like rogue legacy: everytime you die, you can upgrade your character a bit. Gameplay resembles DOOM , but less frantic and polished.

Did anybody buy that game STAY? It looks right up my alley but wasn't sure

Would like too hear about this too!

Read reviews on these first on Amazon. PNY is a legit brand of course but lots of folks are getting fakes even when it says ships from and sold by amazon. Kinda scary, and also heard it's really slow.

Personally I'm waiting for this bad boy:

So I got the Elite F300 Mayflash Arcade sticks, and I think I may need to completely relearn how to play fighting games.

Also, can anyone suggest some good Arcade Games you would prefer to play with a stick? I was looking through some of the ACA games, but I'd like to hear anyone's personal experiences using an arcade stick for something other than fighting games. Maybe like a good beat em up or something that plays well?

Like I am hopeful the SNK Archive of older arcade games works with a stick well. Prefer that. Any one try the Namco collection with a stick?

Lots of stuff came out today. I'd love to read some impressions of OSM, Warlock of Firetop Mountain (just if the port's good -- I've wanted to play this since it came out on Steam), and Wasteland 2. Wasteland 2 doesn't have the great look of the first game but I'm definitely down for a classic CRPG experience for sure, and I love gritty post-apoc settings.

That looks great, and I'd never even heard of it before. Any positive impressions?

I'm really on the fence about either Dead Cells or Hyper Light Drifter. I've just called it quits on Hollow Knight after realising I wasn't really enjoying it, so I'm treading a little carefully with some of the other high profile indie darlings right now. Although I appreciate they're probably all different and I want something new on Switch.

I feel similarly towards Hollow Knight, and bought both Dead Cells, and really enjoyed the ten hours or so I out into it, and haven't r elt much compulsion to head back to Hyper Light Drifter. Which I had on PC, and wish I'd played prior to spending $20 for the mobile Switch aspect.

Welp, I feel like an idiot.
There I was, thinking there was some problem with the european demos, and turns out the problem was that when looking in the demo section, it shows the games by release date, and not by the release of the demo.
That's why I couldn't see the new 2 demos that came out this week (Shift Quantum and Miles&Kilo). It was because the game released some time ago. Lesson learned. (I can't still find that tennis demo/game though).

Aaaaanyway, since there's a chance to see FF15PE in the Direct, I hope they give it a 'Available Now' date. With that 40% discount I would buy it immediately.

Just did my regular check of the discounts page on the UK eshop and saw that Yoku's Island Express is 40% off. Will bite at that price.
