I ordered my Super NT in early September. Waiting for the shipping e-mail! Agreed that $50 shipping (to U.K.) is expensive...I'm going to hit by customs charges too, no doubt.

I don't remember the exact wording but it was something to the effect of "gift" that allowed my shipment to avoid duties as well.
Everyone that I know in Japan got theirs sent like that and AFAIK the same in EU for the first shipment. Hope it's still the same now.

I've been looking at 8bitdo reviews in YouTube and no one mentions a shitty d-pad.

Hope I don't get paid duties (in Japan). 27,000 yen was enough!

My friend in Canada back in May got one and was hit with nearly $50 in duties so I'd probably just plan for the worst and hope for the best. Don't know if they are going to mark down the price anymore.

Is Kevtris done with firmware updates for Super NT?

No, he has mentioned a few things he wants to add to a future update:

1. A dedicated SPC (music) player with a cool/retro visualization. In fact, he's already written one. He just needs to port it. You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2WJCgOW4qM

2. He wants to improve the 1080p scanlines

The problem is that he has no time because Analogue has shifted his priority to their next secret project(s). But Analogue has promised that future SNT updates are coming, so it will likely happen, but it might be awhile.

So I got the following response from Analogue re. my pre-order fur the Super NT:
Your preorder has been successfully received and will be sent out in the coming weeks (middle to late September), with the exact date announced through our newsletter (found on the bottom of analogue.co). At the moment stocks are being prepared for the release, and we appreciate your patience. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Fingers crossed!!

Re: SNT firmware updates and NT Mini:

Kev was once porting INTV and I think one more core to NT MIni. Got pulled off to develop Super NT.

Kev was working on Super NT enhancements; music player, new scanline agorithm, a few more fixes. Got pulled off to work on <probably Megadrive>.

He's the sole engineer. He's the bottleneck on everything. They have to keep the cash flow going. Have to roll out new products to do it.

Note that the NT Mini web page is *still* not removed.

I still expect backfill to happen at some point; some form of NT Mini for another run or more; more SNT firmware updates. But I have literally *zero* expectations for timeframe. Lots of doom and gloomers say it's never going to happen. I disagree, but it might take a couple of years; no joke.

MSU-1, FX and SA-1 support = worth it!

It's about to go on sale too in November.

Get a SD2SNES. It's the best one out there.

SD2SNES, just wait for the 20% off Black Friday sale since its 2 months away. Until then just use the hacked firmware to use ROM loading on the Super Nt.
Thanks guys. I'll happily wait for the sale. Where's the best place to buy this from? I'm based in the UK, but happy to import.

Is msu1 easy to get working?

There's an option in the Super NT menu to turn on cart audio, that's all you have to do to enable it, and you typically drop the music and patched game into a folder. That part isn't hard.

Getting ahold of the MSU-1 patched games, or patching games with the MSU-1 music, varies in difficulty depending on the game and the source of the music used. I'm very tech saavy and found myself scraping around quite a bit to find some of the MSU-1 patched games I wanted, or getting the right music to go with the rom and patch.

Should I be worried about these devices going out of production? I reeeaaaally want one but I can't really justify ordering one now.

Same, ordered August 31st here in Ontario, Canada.

Me too.

My pre-order purchase order was confirmed on May 8th, with an expected shipping date of September.
But still no shipping.
Wow, I ordered in early Sept...so later than both of you. Their customer support did tell me last week that orders would be shipped out by the end of the month, so we have a few more days left. I'm not feeling hopeful at the moment, though.

If the last batch is anything to go by, yeah, they're gonna take their time. I think they go with DHL, too, which at least here in Texas took a while.

That said - it's worth it. Hell of a little system.

Either you have normalized the use of an entirely misleading level of hyperbole, or there are differences in batches of 8bitdo controllers. I've got like four or five of them and all of them are fantastic. I use them at pretty much any opportunity—NT, Switch, PC, whatever.

Happy to hear this.

I was going to buy one regardless of the bad rep, but now I feel a little more hopeful.

Also, there was a fix mentioned with tape if I really don't like it.

I can't stand the Switch pro controller, so I hope it's not like that.

8bitdo controllers are known for having dpad issues. If you are getting bad inputs then the controller is indeed terrible. The 3 that I own all suffer from this issue. The two recommended solutions are to either swap in a dpad from a real snes controller or to do the tape mod.
