You'd figure with how long Golden Sun has gone without a game, and how poorly the last entry performed, that Golden Sun fans would be thankful for any kind of new content. Guess not!

I really don't get the "no more 3DS games, the Switch is out now!!" thing.

Like, it's just really weird to imagine "UGH, whaddaya mean Kirby's Adventure is on that stupid old thing. I have a SUPER Nintendo now!" or "Persona 4? More like Persona POOR. Get with the times Atlus, PS2 is old news." The idea that systems should just stop getting games the second their successor releases is so weird.

JRPG fans are on Switch.

Did all the JRPG fans that had 3DSes for the likes of Bravely and Dragon Quest and SMT just throw them out when the Switch came out or something?

Am I supposed to be happy Golden Sun is coming to a system where the games don't sell anymore? I don't the crap sales to further prove to Nintendo to never bring back Golden Sun. This is my fear.

If you're so worried about sales, you could always buy it. If there's truly a dedicated audience for Golden Sun, why wouldn't they turn up or a new entry/remake after so long? You can turn up your nose and keep the franchise dead, or buy it and give it a second chance.

If this is happening at all. I'm not convinced, personally.

Right? Plenty of great games ended up releasing on systems whose successors had already released. It's a shame that people who claim to be real fans don't seem to want to support them.

Game sales are down on 3DS. This is proven. It doesn't matter if I go buy it or not. Don't put this on me. I care about the franchise. I don't care what they put on 3DS, but Golden Sun needs the Switch too. JRPG fans are on Switch.

I would have thought that about Kirby as well if I were alive at the time.

Bringing GS to Switch opposed to 3DS is about reaching a new audience. That is something, I would suspect, that today is far easier on the former.

Kirby comes to 3DS no one complains. Guess why? Because we all know the franchise will continue no matter if it flops on 3DS. Golden Sun does not have the same luxury as Kirby, for example.

Who cares if they're down? They're not gone. 3DS is getting another Etrian Odyssey game and a sequel to Persona Q. I'll bet those fanbases will turn up to buy them, despite being released on old hardware. If Golden Sun gets a 3DS release and flops, it won't be on Nintendo; it will be on the Golden Sun fans who thought "this isn't on Switch! No buy!" and waited for nothing.

Of course it could reach more people on the Switch. I'm just saying, for a franchise like Golden Sun, you would think that their fans would be thankful that any new game exists at all, given the obscurity of the franchise. There's nothing inherently wrong with a smaller game series like Golden Sun getting a 3DS release; it could still be a good game!

That's not entirely true.
Nintendo "should" know where the focus is and if ever, just get the game on both.
I'd probably buy a remaster on Switch, not on the 3ds, that's for sure, and for good reasons.
surprise twist, they're actually revealing one last DLC character for Smash 4
Exclusive to the WiiU ? Oh... seems like I'd have go back to that game wouldn't it ?
Not sure if happy or sad.

I wonder if remaking the first two games on Switch is just more effort than Nintendo's willing to expend for a smaller franchise?

Then again, Sushi Striker became multiplatform, so who knows.

This is something that's a serious problem with a lot of Nintendo fans. People complain that Nintendo doesn't seem very interested in games like Metroid, Star Fox, Golden Sun, new IPs, etc . . . And yet when Nintendo releases those things they don't sell and people complain about the games. Obviously people want *good* entries in those series, but Metroid Prime 3 was a good game on a console that sold 100M+ and it didn't sell very well. Metroid Other M (which had good gameplay, even if the story had its issues) and Metroid: Samus Returns didn't sell too well either. Star Fox 64 3D didn't do that great, neither did Star Fox Zero (which obviously had some issues so it's a bit more understandable). Golden Sun Dark Dawn was a good game, if not great, and it didn't do particularly well. The Last Story and The Wonderful 101 didn't exactly light up the sales charts and they're both excellent new IPs published by Nintendo. History seems to indicate that there's a heck of a lot more people that complain about Nintendo ignoring certain franchises than there are people that will actually buy those franchises when they release.

So i was thinking, but maybe you already discussed it, what are the chances Nintendo has to announce something that was planned later cause of half the things in the direct being announced before it now.

The first 2 are not on 3ds either though, so except if it's far easier (for reasons I don't know) to port DS games to 3ds, than DS to Switch, then they can do whatever.

Since RPG work well on the switch, I could see something like that happen on the long run (or very late with Nintendo Online, as VC-like games ?)
It would still sell much better than Tokyo RPG Factory tras...games.

Edit : Sushi Striker is an interesting example indeed. While beside something like Luigi's mansion is 3ds only...

I know its a long shot but I would really love to see a new Mario Strikers game. The GameCube and Wii games are just phenomenal and I really think this could help sell the online service.
Awesome games (although I liked the Gamecube one better), but it plays a lot like hockey with the walls and body contact. I always wondered why they didn't take the engine and make Super Mario Slapshot.

Excite Trucks / Bots

Excite Boat (think Excite Truck meets Hydro Thunder)

but I'll take Truck or Bike, just give me more ExciteSomething

Little-to-no chance. The Direct will be almost exactly as it was had it aired last week, with the only changes being to relative dates (e.g. next week, today, etc) The reason being that third parties (the only companies in the 3 main 'leaks') would very likely not want Nintendo removing their games from an event as big as a Direct simply because they were revealed earlier.

The 3DS was a fucking horrible blurry mess of a console that was old fashioned on day one, which we put up with for years because Nintendo were showering it with incredible games. Now that the Switch is filled with even better games and has a screen that doesn't make you want to carve your eyes out with an ice pick I'd rather die in a ditch than play a new Golden Sun on 3DS. I loved the old games but come on. Most Switch owner's 3DS are covered in dust in the attic, donated to a younger family member or sold by now.

(I know I'm massively exaggerating and not entirely serious but, the fact remains the potential market on Switch is much bigger and much more enthusiastic. You can't be mad at someone complaining that they bought a brand new shiny console, that is supposed to be the present and future of Nintendo, and then they release a long awaited game for the old shitty one lmao)

Gear.Club Unlimited 2 dated december 13th in Japan. I'm really hyped for this game and hope we can get some gameplay today.

On one hand GRU was based off the Mobile game which failed to reach the heights of their previous efforts like V-Rally and Test Drive Unlimited from what I can tell. Never played it obviously, but still. Dudes made TRU. I think after going F2P and dealing with mobile for years now, since they had experience with GRU last year, they will release something much more capable with GRU2. Here's hoping.

The art style of Sushi Strikers makes that simply adapting the resolution already looks good in Switch, Luigi's Mansion no.

A relatively small group of "Nintendo fans" on the internet don't make the difference. Wonderful 101 selling 10.000 copies or 15.000 doesn't move the needle. also: Supporting games with arguably bad or average quality in the naive hope that the next entry will magically be great, anybody should accept.

By the way guys, do you think that the new Yoshi will have some cross-promo or compatibility with Nintendo Labo?

If Golden Sun is for 3DS the whining will be endless, so I hope it's for Switch.

It´s surprising how many Switch games have been announced/hihgly rumoured and we don´t know anything about at all:

- Bayonetta 3
- Metroid Prime 4
- Pikmin 4
- New Retro Studio Game
- Fire Emblem Three Houses (I know, we have the E3 trailer, but that´s all the information and it´s been almost two years since its announcement).
