Barely.
Barely.
Just finished it and yes, it is. I don't think it's a must watch, but it's much improved.

Ha, I know right. How'd you feel about the first season?
Me? I thought it was pretty rough.
I would at least read what happened in it, because basically everything in S2 is due to the fallout of S1.
Just got to episode 5 and I feel like the opener was supposed to be a powerful "oh shit just got real" moment when you see that a certain character now has a certain power, but the way it's framed and shot just had me laughing. I gotta say, the mask does not look good on screen at all. But the rest of the episode was good.
I dont get why everyone hates danny. I really enjoyed season 1, and just finished season 2. Im pretty pumped for season e now, they really did some great things with the characters this season. I also think the guy that plays ward is an amazing actor. Any scene where hes going through stuff is always really intense.

Because he's insufferable. In season 1 he comes across as a preachy man child who is also the worst successor to a mystical power that you supposedly earn through ability and mental fortitude, that I've ever seen. He has anger issues, he's impulsive, and he's just...dumb. Well, naive. Now, I'm not saying that his story doesn't back up some of these--he was raised in a cult, basically, lost his parents at a young age, and has no experience--but they don't make for a likable character. It also doesn't help that his fight scenes aren't the best. At least Ward is amazing. That's the plot line that kept me watching.
It's funny watching this show jump through hoops to try to make Joy's heel turn make sense. Like it requires all of the characters she's mad at to somehow not be able to explain why they made the decisions that they did.

There's so many reasons as to why one would hate Danny, but the easiest one is just that the actor is just totally miscast.
Even in episode one, her motivation is supposed to be"He came back and turned everything I had to ashes. I want him to know what that feels like." Uh, his parents were ripped away from him as a kid. He lost his home, his friends, his very identity... And, uh, it was your dad that was instrumental in it, Joy. You forget that? And what about your brother? Remember him? He kept your dad secret from you, then killed him, jeopardized the company many times with his vices, then... Wouldn't you say that Danny had less to do with everything than your own family? It's so weird to me. Maybe they're going somewhere better with it, but at the moment it's bizarre logic from someone who purportedly has a brain in her head.
Also it's just way too much work. Could've just the dojo on fire or something, not randomly find yourself working with Davos in some convoluted scheme to take his Iron Fist away. Joy being that vengeful is so forced.
Yep.Davos makes sense. Dude's got a legitimate gripe. Danny is a terrible Iron Fist and he feels rightfully betrayed. Joy, though? The heck? None of that computes.

This is where I'm at as well. Joy hating Ward? Sure. Davos hating Danny? Makes sense. Joy hating Danny so much she teams up with fucking Davos to take away his superpowers? What?
Iron Fist has a fundamental problem in that the iron fist is just not a very good superpower. The power itself isn't enough to make a person a serious contender, but at the same time the show wants to lean on the power to explain why Danny is a hero. So it can't present him as Superman, whose power qualifies him to be a hero all by itself, but it also can't present him as Batman, who's just really smart and a ninja. It just always feels silly that nobody ever brings a pistol to an iron fist fight. And that the power is underwhelming is a problem for the whole premise of the season, since it's a little hard to see why everyone cares so much about it. Yeah, it's got religious significance to a couple of people, but that's about it.
I thought the season was not that good. Better than S1, and being only 10 episodes helps a lot. The conclusion works fairly well, and actually better than it would have if the rest of the show was better.
The "superhero gives up their power to someone else" thing rarely works well because you know that they're just going to get it back immediately. But it was both executed well here and helped by how Danny is everyone's least favorite part of the show, so it's actually plausible that they're going to more of an ensemble thing and that Colleen is going to have the fist for a while. And that final scene makes that look fairly likely, even if they didn't commit to depowering Danny and instead gave him terrible-looking gun powers.
Oh trust me, they didn't write this show for fans of Iron Fist. If they did we would have had an immortal weapon tournament by now and they wouldn't have butchered the bride of nine spiders.I like the fact that because Danny is such a crappy Iron Fist, yet, they have not shown you what a good Iron Fist can do with the power of it, no one can understand the ending properly.
This is like the perfect point as to why you can't write shows or even stingers only for comic fans.
Oh yea, that's another thing. Despite her hate towards Ward being justified to an extent, she's primarily targeting Danny. Like.... the hell?
I think the only thing she did to Ward was basically wanting to separate from him business-wise. Wow, so very vengeful. Meanwhile Danny who was at no point malicious towards her is getting treated as if he shot her himself lol
To be fair, she is perfectly reasonable in believing that Ward is self-destructive enough to hurt himself so she doesn't have to do much. She even says as much in their meeting when Mary is captured
Raven Metzner.
Eh, I like Finn Jones as Danny Rand. Although his character can be really naive many times, and often does something before thinking it through. I was shaking my head when he jumped at signing the contract in episode one.
On episode 4. Mary got a blue and green eye, such nice detail.
Fuuuuuuuuck. A YouTube thumbnail just spoiled something for me:
Danny gets the iron fist in both hands and shoot guns. Fuck why did I see that.
Is that the biggest surprise of the season? There's more right?
It's more of a future teaser rather than relevant to the current season. There are other surprises, but I've seen them spoiled in youtube thumbnails also, so tread lightly.Fuuuuuuuuck. A YouTube thumbnail just spoiled something for me:

Don't worry too much, it's not as big a deal to the season as you think it would be. Don't bother trying to anticipate it.
If you really want to know, it's literally the last thing you see in the season as a tease for the next.

Ah okay, that's good to know. Not reading that spoiler KarmaCow but thanks anyway. I thought it would be a big deal, since someone could do the same thing in the Immortal Iron Fist comic.
Had no idea. I never noticed during her interviews for Iron Fist. That's Alice Eve's natural eye color. She has Heterochromia Iridum.
Finished Episode 4, and they finally hit the point, that I was waiting for.Turning Davos into the Serpent.
Can someone explain this to me though:
Davos wanted the shipment with the corpse, but Mr. Yang and the Hatchets wanted to cancel the shipment. So Davos went and gave him a stroke in E3, so that he wouldn't be able to cancel it. Then the Tigers was supposed to trade for the docks at the parley meeting? But it went south, so Tigers took it by force. How does all of this connect? Davos figured Mrs. Yang would still cancel the shipment, and then just let the Tigers take over the docks, before doing his move?
Mary is also such a cool character so far.
Thanks. I also got this explanation on discord just now actually, together it makes sense. To answer your docks question:
Mr. Yang wanted to trade the docks with the Tigers, and Davos found out. To make sure the shipment wouldn't fall into Tiger hands, he killed Yang. He didn't anticipate Ms. Yang would continue the meeting.
Was anyone supposed to sympathize with Joy? She was a whiny moron this season. I could sympathize with Davos at least.
