Indeed, all three of the Xenoblade games are good (I don't see why this opinion is so controversial). They all have flaws and detractors, but every game has those. Overall, I doubt reception of X is a problem for Elma getting into Smash Bros.

I think XB2 is in a somewhat similar position to Awakening relative to it's franchise and that game has 3 characters. The problem comes with them implementing multiple original ones from the same game and funnily enough Nia could be passed for Lora who would still be cool even if I prefer Nia. I guess it depends if there are characters that can be Echoes. Pyra seems like she can be an Echo for Rex but Nia would definitely need something new as Shulk or Elma wouldn't be easy to translate to her or other Xenoblade characters.
With Ice Climbers back, I think my prediction is Rex and Pyra will be a pair that fights together. It'd make them stand out more in the roster

I think we would expect Elma through the base game and not DLC. So I don't think Elma and Rex necessarily need to be in competition with each other.
