If every Pokemon was cut and 10 new ones (the amount probably in ultimate) had to be added to replace them

Who would you choose?

I'd go
1.)riachu
2.) Gengar
3.) Blastiose
4.) Feraligatr
5.)Typhlosion
6.) Blaziken
7.) Serperior
8.) Chandelure
9.) Sylveon
10.) decidueye
1) Raichu
2) Scizor
3) Gardevoir
4) Dusknoir
5) N + Zoroark
6) Sylveon
7) Guzma + Golisopod
8) Deoxys w/ Forme Change
9) Darkrai
10) Zygarde w/ Forme Change

I don't really care about Elma but I'm rooting for her because she's the least boring of the "realistic" predictions people throw around for the remaining newcomers

Because Ash has one in the anime. The problem is that the Lycanroc that he does have, the Dusk form, wasn't introduced until US/UM (which released in 2017, about 2 years after the base roster was finalized).

It seems to be a mix of popularity, and whatever Sakurai likes design wise. Lycanroc is fairly popular so if Sakurai thought it was cool then I guess its possible.

Has this been posted yet? (I haven't been following the massive smash threads closely). It seems to have the omega version of Battlefield which we haven't seen yet but someone would have to cross reference the font because leakers always fuck up font. If this is real though....wavedashing in Ultimate, lol. I have my doubts though.

Edit: poster said the mechanic is called "evade-dashing".

Final guesses on Smash stuff in the Direct?
I say Isabelle as an echo, Newcomer Incineroar and a new Pokemon stage based on Gen 7.

You couldn't wavedash off a platform in the demo, hitting an edge stopped your momentum. This has no chance of being real based on that.

How confident are people in Elma anyways?
50/50, to be honest. Relevance during the time of the roster selection process & the X-Factor of that mech rifle that Sakurai used as reference are points in Elma's favor, but how XBX was received by the fans could have had an impact on her chances.

You think they'll show two newcomers? I don't think so since they only skipped 3 updates last thursday, which would be the CG reveal for the character, the 30 second video and their memory.
This isn't a Smash direct. Expect only one new fighter and no echoes.
Okay then, save Incineroar for later.

Normally I wouldn't want a character in Smash to see people suffer

But Incineroar is the exception. He's had so much unearned slander thrown his way, and I am looking forward to karmic retribution.

Although I don't necessarily believe this leak, that's a pretty poor argument considering how much the Nintendo of America and Japan staff have stressed that the build of the game changes so much so often. *shrug*

Actually I didn't say that but I'm saying that I'm okay with Incineroar being in if he have some wrestling moves since we don't really have any pro wrestler-based character in Smash Bros. What I meant about Incineroar made a lot of sense is it's upcoming roles in anime (they planned the anime in advance, etc, etc) and another things. Also Sakurai want to bring something new to the table, I suppose.
I guess that's fair enough - I was mostly just gesturing that I don't get the hype train outside the Verbegen leak.

Incineroar wouldn't be bad - but I don't think he'd be particularly impressive either. Also if the roster was decided in late 2015 I don't think Incineroar would be the big gold mine like Greninja for advance notice, but eh.

I don't know why you're so stuck on tail hitboxes when that's not something difficult to modify. I dont mean literally just Shulks changes in speed or jump etc, I mean using the radial menu to choose which form, which would obviously be balanced accordingly.

They dont have to be 100% completely different like Pokemon Trainer, but a single tail move is not something noteworthy.
Oh I misread what yo uwere talking about. I thought you meant like Shulk as in...literally...like shulk. and was like "but the hitboxes????"

In that case we want the same thing you just want it hotswapped and i want it permanent

Isn't wavedashing confirmed anyway, albeit in a different form than Melee's?

Yeah, you can wavedash. It's really the same mechanic as melee lol. It's just a pretty bad option though because here the ending lag is just too much. Wavelanding seems more viable, though it's yet to be seen a lot of course.

Cancelling momentum from an air dodge when hitting an edge is not an accident, it's an intentional choice. They could change their minds, but it's pretty ridiculous to think that they would not only change their minds, but choose to present it as a core game mechanic that everyone should be aware of in the course of 3 months.

ikr? I don't think he's a 100% safe pick, but yeesh some people seem REALLY eager to see him deconfirmed.

Has that cloud effect always been in the game? Even if it isn't real, you gotta appreciate the effort people put into fakes nowadays

I remember most people who played the demo saying this mechanic was seriously terrible and felt flat out bad. A lot of people gave feedback saying it sucked, so hopefully, they do change it. I do agree with you though that it's unlikely.

I don't expect an official term for wavelanding but if they did it would probably be called something weird like that. Maybe Namco didnt want to confuse Tekken players :)

Isn't wavedashing confirmed anyway, albeit in a different form than Melee's?

Confirmed to be functionally useless unless its changed on release at least.
