So the FBI evacuated the Sunspot Observatory in New Mexico and it's definitely NOT aliens

Somebody hacked them, demanded 6k in bitcoin to let them get control of their telescope back. Trump thought it was aliens on the search for precious precious bitcoins that someone told him it is used as fuel for their alien spaceships, so sent the FBI to cut a sweet deal.

i do wish we knew other alien races . Itd be so cool to meet new cultures beyond what we know on earth..once nothing hostile comes out of it.

I just found the thread right before you posted it, I had no idea EtcetEra was such a gold mine.
This is the only thing that would make complete sense to me, but it's not like that's the only observatory. Someone else would know.
So applying my usual 'how many people would have to keep quiet' test for conspiracy, that one is sunk.

I'm usually pretty calm and rational. Someone tell me all these cams being off is normal and not at all indicative of an impending doom. Whether it be from alien invasion or an object on course to hit earth.

Huh, that's pretty weird. I live about an hour north of there, and I know that area (near the white sands missile range) is crawling with all sorts of top secret military stuff mostly involving munitions. It really could be just about anything.

I guess it is the most merciful thing to hide the grim truth to prevent some mass hysteria. We should be thankful to be able to lead a normal life in the last days of our existence imho.
I wouldn't overthink it. Webcams at observatories are frequently down, as it's usually pretty low on the list of priorities of things to maintain.
I assume that there's no way for every single observatory to be shut down completely without anyone saying anything across the entire world.

I think he's more saying that the possibility of us being the only planet with living things on it is almost statistically impossible, it's a 1 and 60 billion shot that that is the case.
