That was a great preview of Odyssey. I am liking what I'm seeing, but at the same time, I didn't play/beat Origins until February this year, so I definitely will get this at some point, but sadly not in October. Great preview though!!
Would have been a 4 or 5 for me. Seemed like a lot of recycled material and underwhelming games plus a highlight or two.
I take it you've never watched a TGS conference before then. You have to set expectations accordingly.
Despite liking the announcements the presentation was awful. Having the poor lady live translate the judge eyes trailer was like "why ???". I feel like we already figured out so much of this years ago but I guess backwards bubble Japan memes.
Yeah, I felt really bad for the translator/interpreter. It was an impossible task to interpret a trailer like this with multiple characters that spoke in quick succession live for an audience.
They had translated trailers uploaded to the European SEGA youtube account a couple of hours after the presentation (and I guess to the US account as well), so why couldn't they at least give her that translated text to read (they shouldn't have interpreted the trailer at all imo).
It must have been horrible for her. I hope she got paid well.
That said, the whole trailer still made my day and I am still pumped for the game (I will check out the demo if I have time between finishing Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Forza Horizon 4).
It's a short demo. (15 minutes for me but I skipped all cutscenes to not spoil myself).
Also just cause some people had some wild ideas about what this is (reading stuff about how this might be LA Noirish), I just want to straight out dispel all of that it's a yakuza game through and through just telling a non yakuza focused story while introducing some new flair gimmicks(people are not going to like tailing I'm pretty sure xD) specific to the whole private eye thing but fundamentally still a yakuza game, there might be a good amount of connective tissue though with it being in the same city and world etc.. This has been disappointing to some but for me personally I'm on a Yakuza roll somehow I just super enjoy this style of game right now to the point where I don't mind playing them every 6 months.

I think you're thinking of the Spider-Man 2 movie tie-in game, which is not the Spider-Man 2 that Kyle played. I mean, I disagree with the movie game not being good (although it gets worse once the mechs get introduced), but that's another topic.
Gotta agree with Hazz3r in that the PS1 Spidey 2 is probably far from the worst Spidey games. I haven't played it myself, but it didn't seem half as bad as some of the abysmal old Spider-Man games I know.
I really hope the Insomniac sequel is just called Marvel's Spiderman 2 to make the confusion even worse!
It's never too late! I believe the tcg is available on android and iphone if you domt feel like dropping cash to find out if you like it or not.
I agree having a live translation of trailers is stupid but they've been doing it for like 5 years at this point, you've just gotta accept that that show isn't for us and set your expectations appropriately. If anything, this one was actually far better than usual because it was limited to just the Nagoshi + Judge Eyes segment, in previous years it'd go on throughout the whole show.

Yeah I kept hoping footage of the indies they were talking about was going to show up. Friend Code could really benefit from this.
That's really cool! :) I had gotten used to seeing their scores pop up here and there, but frankly, their awards seem more insignificant to the industry, for lack of a better word. It's eye-opening to see it appear in promotional material on the Playstation Twitter!
What caught my eye is in the past when I've seen them show up it'd be a large collection of publications. This time it's a small group of the biggest sites and then EZA pops up.

Not a fan of the guests at all really (ninty podcast). They need more DON, started watching Funhaus as he's supposed to be involved there, didn't find much so far unfortunately but I kinda like them and might keep watching that instead.
Might as well be disappointed now. Don doesn't seem like he really wants to do on camera stuff, aside from the occasional Syndrome & the regular group streams.
I think having occasional guests is great, especially for topics as varied as the Indie games discussed in friendcode this time. No one can play them all so it's nice to have someone who might offer a perspective on some of those the allies don't cover. I was happy about the mention of Cosmic Star Heroine for example.
Just like in real life it's good to talk to people outside your immediate circle of close friends every now and then.
Having said that, I don't want guests at the expense of allies, but as an addition they're great.

I'm hoping for as many Allies as possible. Would be great to have an E3 setup with a small camera in the corner but that might be asking for too much for a Direct.
Unless they're filming something tomorrow, I don't see it being worth the drive for 35 minutes of crushed dreams.

Moof 2.0 is blowing my mind. I also like how Kyle is calling back Yogalla's antagonism towards Moof by having Villiend be super suspicious of him.
