Why would it be very unlikely to improve any time soon? You think Nintendo spent the last year doing nothing at all for their online service? They delayed an entire year just for fun?
What did they improve in regards to their $20/$35 yearly plan? Curious to see a list to compare because 1 year + 6 months is a long wait.

I'm pretty happy that it cost only $20 a year, I pay $60 for psn+ and I don't like nothing they really offer for free I just use it for online. I don't really see the problem $20 is nothing nowadays, can't even fill up the gas tank for that amount.

Nintendo should have have started at $60 a year. The money they will make is a good incentive to have a bigger discount on first party games (at least 50%).

It will be very interesting to see what happens to online game populations post-Online launch.

I still think the disturbance will be minor for the more dedicated games like Splatoon or Monster Hunter. More marginal games like Mario Kart/Tennis may suffer. Most everyone who's playing Splatoon regularly right now will probably be willing to drop $20.

Ultimately I'd guess most people are willing to drop $20, but only when something they want to play rolls around. So releases like Dark Souls, Pokemon, and Smash will bring people in, and then Nintendo will have them (especially if the subscription is set to auto-renew. Folks won't object to $20, most would barely notice that come off their credit card once a year).

Can't tell if this is a joke post or not. But if not: come on.
Nintendo already tested the waters for charging $20 a year. Next they will increase it to $80 and make the family plan as the only plan. Even Sony allow maximum 2 PS4 that can enjoy Plus. Not many will hesitate to pay $80 to play their games online if they can share it with 7 other people.

Nah. Why do that when they can make $60 off of people and never drop the price of first party games?
Or they can make it extra complicated. Exclusive discounts only when user renew their monthly membership on that month. Yearly renewal gets you gold coins x1, family plan x0.125.

If most of these nes games have online play I don't see them having a very large population of players with them being spread out over 10 - 15 games

Bet it's going to be hard to find someone to play with alot

Yeah, I am, I do not like subscription services, that's why I have money to spent every month, no cable tv, no magazines, no website subscriptions. These things add up.

If online games are really important to you, I agree, 20,- a year is not a life changing amount.
But for me, who's never had to pay for playing BOUGHT ONLINE GAMES (it is kind of weird to me) online, it's a no go.
I won't be buying online games on the Switch, if they're useless without a subscription.

(Just trying to explain my point of view and I don't think I'm alone in this. :) )
So all in on Steam then? Are there any other free platforms left?

Why does online have Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3 but not Super Mario Bros 2?

Are they scared of true quality?

Today has to be 6.0 update day, right?

No.

Nintendo sent me this email:

Hello,

On 9/18, your Nintendo Switch will be receiving a system update, version 6.0.0. Afterwards, it will no longer be possible to unlink your Nintendo Account from your Nintendo Switch user profile. Prior to this change, you should verify that your Nintendo Account or your child's Nintendo Account is linked to the correct user profile.

For example, please confirm that the parent's or legal guardian's Nintendo Switch user profile is linked to the parent's or guardian's Nintendo Account, and that the child's Nintendo Switch user profile is linked to his or her child account.

By ensuring that your Nintendo Account is linked to the correct user profile, you will be able to appropriately manage your save data, Nintendo Switch Online membership, and Nintendo eShop content.

I hope Zelda II and any JRPG are in the other 10 launch games. Hopefully they don't limit themselves on what games they add because of the online functionality, but I assume most single player games will just have controller sharing and screen broadcasting.

Well so much about some new informations and more features.
And people really thought Nintendo would create a good online system with a feature set that is standard since 2006. HAHA

I was hoping we'd at least get a TEASE of a console beyond NES, but they just doubled down with those controllers (that I will stupidly buy).

So, this might be a dumb question, but will Fortnite on Switch require the service?

I've heard on PS4, one doesn't need to pay for PS+, but on XBO, you need Live. Has Nintendo or Epic clarified the status of that?

Yeah no. Unless Smash Bros actually has good online, it's a HARD pass for me. Nothing about this deserves a single cent, at least from me.

Sounds about as sull as expected. NES games will be drip fed out, and no signs of any VC. Probably not going to bother with all of these random collections that keep getting released now.

It's pretty amazing how a majority of features they "announced" were features that already existed, but are no longer free. They even had the gall so double down on the universally panned mobile app. This online service continues to be the worst proposition out there.

And they're even so stingy about it! PS+'s free trial is 14 days, XBLG's is 30 days, and switch online only gives you 7 days. Fucking lol

3 NES games a month, that's worst than Wii U. The price isn't bad, but man they coulda did more

PS+ gave out Destiny 2 this month, Xbox live gives out 2 xbox one games and 2 xbox 360 games, which included Forza Horizon 2 this month

I'm pleasantly surprised to see Third party games in the mix. I figured it would just be just first party games.

For obvious reasons, we're probably not going to see the NES Mega Mans or (if that one rumor is true) the NES Castlevanias, but hopefully we get a good selection of things.
