I'm still on a 6 and am thinking about getting a Galaxy when I upgrade in a few months. I still like Apple but the phones are too expensive.
Ironically, the OP is very big on "choice," unless your choice is Apple, in which case you're a rich idiot. That's what choice is about. I use my pencil occasionally on my iPad, but wouldn't see the point on a smaller screen. Watch OS is miles beyond Wear OS. I like my cheap Android phones, but at the end of the day I always reach for the iPhone.
They are just asking questions!Ironically, the OP is very big on "choice," unless your choice is Apple, in which case you're a rich idiot.
*shrug* Just feels weird that the only option for people switching has the "Bring on the premium prices!!" condition attached to it.What else would you call these $1000+ devices... Is that normal to you lol
That is a valid complaint and the biggest reason I won't be going for a Samsung device next time around. I love the extra button and hate that I have to have app to use it for not bixby. And way too slow on even security patches. Don't see the issue here.*shrug* Just feels weird that the only option for people switching has the "Bring on the premium prices!!" condition attached to it.
Its like me creating a poll that asks "Are you switching to the new Samsung phone from your iPhone?" and the two options are "No, I'm good" and "Yes, I need BIXBY now and love waiting months for software updates!"
I've never used a wear or watch OS device but also never felt compelled to whereas I do see apple watches pretty often so I'll believe you. I really liked my pebble but Fitbit took them away from us :(That's what choice is about. I use my pencil occasionally on my iPad, but wouldn't see the point on a smaller screen. You're right, they are valid complaints. That's why it would silly to have them be a condition in a poll.
Just like your poll is silly for having a mandatory condition of "bring on the premium prices!" I'm switching from Android to iPhone for a lot of reasons, but I'm not excited about the high prices. But in your poll, my only option is to be excited about them. See the issue now? See how the bias comes through?
It is truly wild. 1TB micro SD cards are coming in 2019 I believe was said and it will definitely be less than the 512gb iPhone lol
I'm not using it to store anything that matters for those purposes, use the onboard memory if that matters. But putting music and movies pictures etc on it is the purpose. As for speed I'm sure it's just fine, never had an issue with sd card load times on a phone before. Will it be anywhere near as fast, stable or secure as the iPhones internal storage?

It's nice to not have to juggle apps or pictures around onto the cloud and what not just have the memory there and not run out. And when I upgrade phones I can carry it over and still have that memory option on a new phone. Admittedly less Androids are supporting sd cards but enough still do it's not an issue. And if I need more? Easy upgrade. That was my third point - how many people do you think actually need to store that much media and need it on their phone at all times?
I guess it just comes down to tone then. To me the phrase "Bring on the premium prices!!!" reads as "I'm excited for the premium prices." and excited for=/=okay with. But you are paying the premium price and saying you're okay with it.
I feel the note can do more though, what with the Samsung dex advances and the s pen. Even in the upper echelon it feels the Android device is doing more/better at a lower price point. I dont really see where the apple value becomes worth it unless you are just ensnared in their ecosystem which honestly feels more like a curse than a benefit.
More of a joke if anything, wanted to do one for Windows phone users who are finally upgrading but hit the Max options :pI guess it just comes down to tone then. To me the phrase "Bring on the premium prices!!!" reads as "I'm excited for the premium prices." and excited for=/=okay with.
But whatever, it doesn't really matter, haha. Just an off-putting poll, nbd.
Clashing colors, duplicated apps, laggy UI - all Samsung staples.
I'm curious if Samsung and Google will kill them on the camera front again this year. It's been what 3 years now that apples been in third place?Watched the stream to see if there was anything that could pull me away from my s8+. Camera improvements are nice and that Steve Nash app was cool. But those two aren't worth the price of admission lol.
Generally speaking, they're all horrible and gouge the consumer. I'm not defending them or saying they're good in the least. I'm just not interested in spending a ton of money up front for a phone when I can get one 'free' through my contract.
I pay $50 a month for one fucking gig. It's not good.
You and me both, man. I would even consider jumping to Android if they released a ~4" phone but the closest I can find is the XZ1 Compact and it's a year old already. The XZ2 Compact is bigger still.Bummed that the 4" phone seems to be dead to Apple. I love my iPhone SE and I'd prefer not to own anything larger. I bought it in March 2017 when the new storage capacities were rolled out so it's only about 18 months old.
So the phone I would want to buy this cycle, if I were up for an upgrade, is not only big, but stupid big, and I ain't a fan of that.
You should consider prepaid plans. Many friends buy phones outright (including used phones where deals are incredible) and pay under $40 for 2-4gb a month.
Those contracts are simply a phone payment plan, though I admit there are occasional good deals (per our Canadian deals thread :)
Many people will simply finance the phone over monthly payments if they don't get access to carrier contract plans.
Well, they did hype up so many "revolutionary features" you'd think a few people may switch after seeing them :pWhy would any S year make anyone change formats?
It's a half step year, now if it was the 11 this year then I would get the idea of the thread.
It's the same stuff as last year, with a few changes.
$40 is better than $50, but the thing is that it comes with a big phone purchase beforehand. For an extra $10, I'd rather just have the phone thrown in, and that way I can upgrade to another 'free' one. More data would be nice, though, so when I do upgrade I'm going to ask about it.
Luckily, I don't use my phone all that much and have never gone over my data. Before this, I had 500mb and now just the 1gb. I've used 985mb once. But peace of mind would be nice, especially since I'm not working from home as much and have an Internet addiction.
Thanks for the thoughtful reply, though
It used to be that Apple products commanded a certain premium, because they were just that much better than the competition in specs, build quality, features, etc. Now it feels more like Apple is in the business of, to put it nicely, overcharging gullible people.
Man, I don't understand all the freaking out about prices with the introduction of pricing plans. In the US at least, I pay monthly along with my phone bill through my carrier; don't even pay off the full thing, and then trade it back in and upgrade to the next one.
Sure you could argue that it's still a lot to pay If I just keep my current one till it's paid off, but by that point it's two years old and I'm ready to upgrade anyway. I realize that I'm in a privledged position, but people pointing to these crazy price tags as if people have to pay off the whole thing upfront doesn't account for every possibility.
At the end of the day, they're just phones and there are plenty of reasons to look elsewhere other than Apple if you hate how they do things.
The example I like to use is when I bought my Amazon Firestick. The stick didn't fit in my HDMI port because it was too thick. I look in the box and lo and behold there is an extra adapter there for this scenario, that maybe 50% of the people need. That is something that current Apple would never do.
Come the fuck on, $2000 for a phone that doesn't have usb-c or 3.5mm jack?
Not anymore!you mean like shipping phones with headphones and an adapter in case you want to use your own?
Apple would never.
