With the 'leaks' i don't expect many surprises mostly updates on Yoshi, FE, 3ds games, Smash and Pokemon probably a Mario and Wonderful 101 port but not much else

If I had to make a Tier on where I project some franchises will end up at...

S Tier
- Wii franchise (dead now)
- Pokémon
- 2D Mario
- Mario Kart
- Smash Bros

A+ Tier
- 3D Mario
- 3D Zelda
- Animal Crossing
- Splatoon

A Tier
- Luigi's Mansion (yes I see this taking a step)
- Mario Party (I see SMP selling amazing)

B Tier
- Fire Emblem
- 2D Zelda
- Metroid

Paper Mario and DKC I have a hard time placing. We had two DKC games. One was on Wii and one on Wii U...Paper Mario has taken a tumble...

As much as I want one, I doubt it. They've never timed newcomer announcements to new game releases.

Are you referring to Smash Ultimate? Because Smash 4 actually did do this.
  • Sonic's around the time Lost World came out.
  • Olimar near when Pikmin 3 happened.
  • Toon Link on the day Wind Waker HD released.
  • Zelda when Link Between Worlds launched in Japan.
  • Dedede a day before Triple Deluxe launched.
  • Diddy Kong w/ Tropical Freeze.
  • And Shulk with Xenoblade 3D being revealed.

Only one of these characters was a newcomer in Smash 4.

a place beyond seeing...
Ok, hear me out. What if the Pokémon rep in Smash Bros. is #808, and we get its Smash Bros. reveal trailer just after its reveal for Let's Go in this Direct? I understand the Smash roster was finalized in 12/2015, but given how the Pokémon design process works, it's very possible #808 existed by then. Also, Smash isn't a stranger to promoting brand new / unreleased content with characters: look at Roy in Melee and Corrin in 3DS / Wii U. A Gen VII Pokémon would be passé by now, with Gen VIII just around the corner and Let's Go out soon.

MMO Animal Crossing.

The lobby is a shopping mall type setting where players exchange fruits and stuff.

Is Kingdom Hearts 1 + 2 coming to Switch? All these other old Square ports are nice, but CC and TWEWY are small stuff. I want the big guns like KH.

Shulk is the only Smash 4 newcomer out of that set. And he was revealed when Xenoblade 3D was revealed, not when Xenoblade 3D released.

Animal Crossing Switch is not a stand alone game. It's part of the NSO service a la PS Home

You heard it here first!

It will be a dumb move from Nintendo to kill the franchise.

Just call the next iterations Mii Sports and Mii Fit.
The Switch has JoyCons with motion controls. And Mii Fit can work with a new balance board and even smartphone app for extra fitness stuff like steps tracking and other functions outside the game.

Also don't forget Nintendo's and Brain Age which have sold quite well in the DS era. Perhaps they can make a comeback but most likely they will make a comeback on smartphones

Like I told LOL, I feel like the newcomer clause isn't really fair here since we already knew we were getting all previous characters when the game was revealed. Thanks for letting me know on Xenoblade though, I'm going to change that.

I WANT a new Wii Sports game. Nintendo should continue it.
