I'm really curious to see the XR. If the display doesn't look horrible in person I might just grab that. The colored cases are nice. Not sure about the size, I really regret getting a 7+, XR is smaller but I think I want to go as small as possible with the X/XS.

The new case colors are nice, I'll probably grab either the baby blue or green leather case.

So if I have a 42mm Watch now and switch to a 40mm, will the screen wind up being the same or bigger?

I wanted to order online but I feel like I need to see this in person now

Is the XR the only 720p phone released in 2018? I feel even budget Androids are 1080p these days especially with phones like the poco f1 at around 300 with better... Everything.

It's not 720p, though. It's halfway between 720p and 1080p.

Oh, I'll probably get the XR for sure then. People get so caught up in tech specs. Can anyone honestly tell the difference between 320ppi and 400+ppi at the typical distance they hold their phone at?

I cannot wait to get the new watch. My wife's watch has been barely getting by for the better part of a year, and mine's getting there, too. The series zero has treated us very well, one of my favorite tech purchases ever, but this year's upgrade seems worth the wait.

Custom roms are preferable imo, more variety and much faster turn around. And do we know how the XR camera is?
No but I can't imagine the XR camera being worse than the Poco's. Not that results were terrible they just weren't anything great. That seems to the be shittiest part of any cheap Android phone for some reason.

I am getting tired of the small size as well

I do want a bigger phone

I can definitely make this last another year, but I was hoping to upgrade this time around.

Well, the good news is your 7 has probably held some value, so if you wanted bigger, you could offset the cost by selling. If you kept it in good shape.

I guess you have to decide if you would miss 3D touch (I know I would). I think if you wouldn't, and you don't need the best camera, the Xr is probably the way to go.

Now the phone sizes are getting big enough where the homescreens are looking as silly (well, not AS silly) as the iPad ones with giant displays and needless spacing between each icon. iOS pls.

e: "120hz refresh rate"

Man... these mofos increased the prices of the watches up between £70 and £100 in the UK (yes, I know they dropped the entry price of the S3 but you know what I meant).

And the Nike ones aren't out until October again

The pics MKBHD posted on his video review we're... Really good for that price point. He even said he was surprised how good they are.

Gruber says no one will mention AirPower at all, even off record.

Easily one of my biggest disappointments. The AirPower was a selling point of the X a year ago. I get things change. Things get delayed. But AP very well might have pushed a few buyers over the edge vs another phone, so I think it's kinda crappy to just completely ghost it.

Everyone is surpsied at everything about the Poco for the price point. In normal usage with its specs it probably outperforms many phones double or triple its price, it just doesn't have an amazin camera though. Particularly low light.

Wish oneplus or xiaomi or someone made a similar phone that was worse in other specs but had an amazing camera.

Man I want that Yellow XR.
Sucks that the premium models don't get the cool colors.

I'd even consider it but I like the dual camera and 3D Touch too much.

You can do the depth shots using portrait mode but I don't think you can adjust the DOF on the X.

damn, I'll need to see how big of a difference this will make in person

Just use the free Focos app.

Thank god the only difference in the Xs line is the size. I want the best camera

Same.

to be exact... Focos IS good.. but the depth slider on the XS is a bit different, using the actual depth information collected at capture instead of just straight up image post-processing (similar to changing the portrait mode after the fact).

again Focos is super good... but the native depth slider has the ability to potentially be better (more accurate)

Where is this information from?
All the portrait picture you take store all that data already.
Focos is using the depth layers that the phone captures to do the same exact thing albeit not as quickly.

As Phil himself called it onstage "Computational Photography". Those are the exact words you see when you launch the Focos app.

It's substantially fewer pixels, but I would take my 7+ with its 1080p screen to a store and compare it to an XR in person before deciding if the XR screen was garbage in comparison.

I mean, you can't even watch HD Netflix or YouTube. It's different right there already lol

Live focus on my Galaxy S9+ seems to this pretty well.

I make good money but this is just more than I'm willing to spend on a device. I wouldnt be able to get by on 64gb and don't care for the screen size of the X.

The note 9 with the stylus looks pretty awesome with the available promotions.
