It didn't really make too much sense if you think about it. I'm assuming NSMBU Deluxe is October or November. Mario Maker releasing early 2019 is too close. Mario Maker 2 for holiday 2019 makes a lot more sense.

Oh, I certainly wouldn't argue it has the same selling power. And I agree, anything can happen insofar as the team's priorities are concerned. I was just saying, until further notice we know that there's a whole team that's been dedicated to 2D Zelda for years and years, so it's probably coming (in some fashion or other).
AC is a series with a Ceiling similar to 3d Mario ( I love 3d Mario) I just don't see them breaking their Ceiling.
Regardless of the "ceiling" saying 11 million is not impressive is just ridiculous.
Animal Crossing is above Zelda imo.
Splatoon is just behind Zelda as well.

Splatoon is well above 2D Zelda. Splatoon 2 is going to outsell any non-BOTW Zelda. It is going to make 12 million +. 2D Zelda is probably capped at 5 million max.
I think you're severely underestimating Splatoon.
I didn't say 11 million was not impressive I'm saying the growth from 11.75 with no dlc to 11.78 with dlc was not that big.

Can we stop with "big games only get announced at E3" nonsense? For the past couple years now both Nintendo and Sony have announced their biggest first party games outside of E3. Third parties still go big at E3, but the biggest announcements at E3 from Nintendo since the Switch launch have been a Metroid Prime logo (arguably not even a "big" announcement) and ol boy at his desk promising us a core Pokémon game is coming. I'm not expecting anything Zelda tomorrow either but the next one isn't getting announced at E3, where they have to share the spotlight with everyone.

Well...once Splatoon hits those numbers I'll put it way up. As of now it's around 7 million and 2D Zelda's of the past have hit that number or higher.
I don't think AC could've carried the Switch hardware like Zelda BOTW. Certain games seem to push HW, even if they don't sell 30m like 2D Mario.
Switch also got MK8D by May, so it wasn't a solo effort of course.
I think Nintendo said they were done with the DLCs on Breath of the Wild. So I don't expect anything.
what are you saying with these numbers? there's no way welcome amiibo sold 30k copies. it sold 10 times that just in japan.
Are you forgetting the part where it increased / grew despite the install base of the platform it released on going from 150 million DOWN to 75 million? Yeh sure, real lackluster performance there..........
I mean, it's selling a quarter million every 3 months, and should easily do that or more in Q4. By December's end alone, it should be at or above 8 million at the least, which will already put it above every Zelda except maybe BOTW and Twilight Princess.
It's kind of disingenuous to assume that something that has been so evergreen so far is just going to fall off and stop selling. We only have 1 year's worth of data on it as well vs lifetime for everything else.
Also, the highest a 2D Zelda has hit has been 6.51 million, and none of the others have even come close.
Gonna be watching both back-to-back to help get me through to the late Direct. GameXplain's prediction videos are always great at getting me hype.
At the very least, something like that should be incorporated into pikmin 4. Pikmin is all about strategy anyway.
Maybe they could bring the Adventure of Link on 3DS with Samus Returns engine ( and Mercury Steam or Grezzo at the helm ). I would disappointed if it's "only" 3DS though.
