Insane, my personal insurance costs €4.72 a month, for everything on me for damages, theft, loss up to €3000.I'm not sure if this is new or not, but looks like the iPhone XS/XS Max have a new AppleCare+ With Theft and Loss protection option. It's $199 vs $299 for the Theft/Loss and the deductible for the Theft/Loss protection is $269.
Yeah, even the presentation was kind of eh.is it just me or is this the most disappointing and lackluster iphone release in years
at least the new watch looks dope
Not really, the 6S through 8 releases were similarly iterative. It is best to make sure you are on the main two year cycle and upgrade then, ignoring the S cycle.is it just me or is this the most disappointing and lackluster iphone release in years

Alternatively, get on the S cycle and enjoy the Gen 2 upgrades to all features that they offered last year. Not really, the 6S through 8 releases were similarly iterative. It is best to make sure you are on the main two year cycle and upgrade then, ignoring the S cycle.

As Cat Dad pointed out, if you don't mind waiting a year for some of the small performance and speed updates, sure, it is better.Isn't the S generally the better of the two and the one you should be waiting for?
They seem pretty boring. It feels like the new phones literally come down to the new chipset this year whereas they usually add some new innovation on the S model. They did a lot of showmanship to make it look like there is a lot new there, but I just don't see it. I think it has got the be the most "boring" iPhone cycle I've ever been a part of it.is it just me or is this the most disappointing and lackluster iphone release in years

I mean you also get the Max this year, which is a significant upgrade because the 5.8 was a bit small if you came from the Plus.S used to be bigger updates that just speed though. This seems like maybe the smallest S bump yet.
But compare the X to the X S, not the Max. That just seems like a shrug, much more than past S years.I mean you also get the Max this year, which is a significant upgrade because the 5.8 was a bit small if you came from the Plus.
yeah, I guess the hardware upgrade for the S cycle this year is the Max version.
I started with the white iPhone 4, then I went 5S, 6S and now X. I'll hold off for at least another year, but I would like to keep it longer. May end up going back on an S cycle eventually.
It's hard to follow up a year like the X. Now we iterate on the X for a while.is it just me or is this the most disappointing and lackluster iphone release in years

I'd be all over the Xr if it just had a SLIGHTLY higher resolution.
I would go for the XR in a second -- despite these terrible names -- but I can't go back from OLED to LCD. It's so frustrating that Apple frames smaller size as a budget option instead of a different ergonomic choice.
Hey, at least with the Xs it finally is a choice in that sense, because the smaller for the first time doesn't have a practical drawback comparing to the larger. It is still cheaper however.I would go for the XR in a second -- despite these terrible names -- but I can't go back from OLED to LCD. It's bigger than the Xs? I guess I'm confused by the sizing. I just want an 8-sized phone with X tech. The X is too big for one-handed use.
I wasn't a fan of the iPhone PPI of the 6-8 either (earlier than that I was fine since I didn't watch much content or play a lot of games on my phone in those days). It's the same PPI as all the Retina/LCD non-Plus models from the iPhone 4 through the iPhone 8.
Anyone else?Weird.
I replaced my iPhone 6 battery on 1st of March and its already super broken again. According to the Battery Life App its capacity has already decreased by 66%(!). It took yesterday about 85% of the batter for about 45 minutes of GPS and an constantly unlocked screen with minimal brightness.
The Apple Battery menu is already on service because it shut down prematurely a few times now, but the capacity is still on 100% and I am willing to trust that more then Battery Life, since Apple has direct access, and I stumbled across this:https://discussions.apple.com/message/33607736?start=795&tstart=0
Problem is, I am on 11.4.1, so it should be fixed. Do you think its worth trying out the ios 12 Beta? Otherwise I am gonna replace my battery again, I cant buy a new phone before christmas...
Not seen that, but might as well wait for iOS 12 next Monday to see if it works itself out.
My Mac mini suddenly won't connect to my WiFi anymore. I haven't changed anything.
I've got a dual band router. The MM is the only device to use the 5GHz connection. I haven't had any issues for months, and suddenly it won't connect. It says "Invalid password", which is nonsense. It still connects to the 2.4GHz connection, though.
I've already tried deleting the WiFi connection, restarting the Mac, and restarting the router.
edit: Same issue on my phone. So it's the router, not the Mac.
So, they killed the iPhone SE (at least it has been completely removed from their website) and aren't offering anything in that price range anymore. Guess I'll sit this round out then...
Xs-5.8"
Xr-6.1"
Xs Max-6.5"
(I want a 5.2" phone that's just a hair wider than the 5/5s/SE. The 6/7/8 is too big for one-handed use.)
This is a good thing. It drove me mad on the 6s Plus.Judging by the verge hands on, the Max doesn't support landscape home screen :/
I think AirPower might actually just be dead, y'all. I can't find a single mention of it anywhere on Apple's site anymore.
Gruber says no one will mention AirPower at all, even off record.
I mean, there already exist mats with multiple charging places. What Apple aimed to do was something that also charges the Apple Watch (which doesn't support straight-up Qi IIRC), charges the AirPods, for which will be necessary for Apple to also release the wireless charging case for them, allows for some free flow placement on the mat and displays a fancy UI on the iPhone indicating the battery levels. It's not just a tall order, but it's really off-limits for 3rd parties. Last thing it was heard it even ran its own version of iOS.Yikes. Weird look if Apple can't get its own wireless charging pad out the door. But if this project is blowing up, great time for a capable third party to release something similar...
