Animal Crossing: New Leaf sold 11.78 million copies (June 2018) according to Nintendo's website. Along with a couple million systems. People really underestimate how big Animal Crossing is.

Animal crossing new leaf sold 11m mostly on the $40 launch price after the franchise lost a lot of steam with city folk on wii. Why people don't think its a major IP i can't understand.
If it can sell 11m on the 3ds at a time when dedicated handheld gaming was under siege, i imagine it will clear 15m possibly more on switch due to the market reacting stronger to hardware and software on switch than compared to 3ds in 2013
