This is freaking awesome

this is honestly a game changer

As someone with a chronic and severe heart condition, this stuff has the potential to be life-changing/saving. I hope it works well in practice. I know even just being able to track/record/graph my heart rate all day every day has been a benefit to me while using my original series Apple Watch.

it's great to read these. I was expecting some cynical hot takes downplaying the significance of these features. Like, the fall detection is AMAZING for elderly folk.

Series 4 is an insta order for me.

Does this ECG thing mean it can get more accurate heart rate tracking in general? Or is the ECG too battery-costly to use regularly?

This man loves those colors lol

Also it seems this is US only for now? Hopefully they work fast to make this available to everyone.

And good on the privacy warning. That's what I want.

You know how stubborn Apple is about design. It's absolutely fanboyish of you to assume that Apple didn't use a round design only because it's not feasible.

No, it's not. Information is delivered in squares. This is how our world works. Text does not format well in circles. Circles are very rarely (if ever) efficient in UX design. Arguing this on the basis of "but clocks have been round for centuries) is so aggravatingly stupid. The Apple Watch isn't a timepiece at this point.

i think it's more the part that you need to touch the digital crown for 30 seconds. Not something you'd do all the time.

BATTERY LIFE PLEASE

edit: awww 'the same' ... i'd love them to have improved it a bit further.

I'm going to get the 40mm version. I did 42mm previously but with the bigger screen now, I don't think I'll need to go as big again.

As someone who just tuned in though I don't really understand how you can get accurate heart reading from one point.

Also what exactly is this thing FDA cleared for? Learning more about how FDA clears medical devices it's extremely easy to get clearance for a medical device.

Dammmmn I missed the beginning till now :(

Wait, so Series 4 won't have the ECG feature outside of US for now?

If you're going to market something as a medical device you need regulatory approval from each country. Since they got FDA clearance I'm pretty sure they're working in getting approval from other countries as well

You're right, some of the best engineers in the world working for a trillion dollar corporation probably couldn't figure it out, and it just won't work b/c I personally can't understand how that technology might be functional because of my rigid perception of how the world works.

Correct and you need a notification to alert you about you falling/ or about to trip. LOL

They do phones better but this isn't the place for that lol. I think all square watches are just ugly as sin. Using both just liked round better.

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I want an option for both. Have a round and square design. My post are clearly my opinion I never stated them as facts so cool down your burners there buddy. Having used multible of these watches I see no advantage to square still. You don't agree? Cool that's nice I still want square ones to be made with an option of round.

Why do you want a bad option? Do you go to high-end restaurants and say "this beautiful salmon is all well and good, but I'd like the option for a big mac as well because I prefer that"?

I always joke that, as an aging janitor often working alone in empty buildings, I suspect I'm vulnerable to dropping dead on the job and not being found for hours. Now, maybe not?
