Can someone confirm why there has been an increase in Animal Crossing speculation? I'm not expecting Animal Crossing to be shown but I've been at work and wonder what I've missed.

Of all their biggest IPs it's the only one still not announced for Switch.
And the previous ones got announced/released at a similar time in their respective consoles life.
Plus the mobile game awhile back and the trademarks early 2018.

And now Tom from Eurogamer hinting at it.

Hopefully there's a bit where Nintendo developers goof around in the office wearing otter costumes like they did for Splatoon back in the day. I don't see how the Direct could possibly be satisfying without at least a couple otters

2019 is shaping up to be an excellent year for Switch.

Could be potentially better than 2017. Although, it's kind of difficult to have a better year than 3D Mario + 3D Zelda.

A very reliable insider, King zell, said that he heard that something with Animals is going to be in the direct. Then later Tom Phillips of Eurogamer said something about Crossing the date for the direct.

No one wants 10 minutes of Super Mario Party but watch them do exactly that explaining everything regarding that game. That's what I mean by 1st Party wildcard. There's always some obscene amount of time they dedicate to 1st Party game and usually it's the one that doesn't need it.

whaaaaaat

Edit: Oh I read 2018. 2019 looks promising, Fire Emblem TSA:NMH, Bayo, Metroid, Pokémon, probably AC...

BTW as a competitive Mario Kart player, can I expect a new game in 2019/2020?

I'm honestly not onboard with the N64 mini rumour, cause I really wanted the N64 games to be on the Switch with the Online Service.

The existence of the N64 mini means that this will not happen at least for now.

Animal Crossing/Fire Emblem/Metroid Prime/Pokemon is already pretty big. Plus the smaller stuff like Yoshi, Daemon X Machina, and Bayonetta 3. And on-going DLC for Smash. Don't see how the year can't be good.

Animal Crossing
Metroid Prime 4
Pokemon mainline entry

Yeah, that's a great year already in just three games.

What else could be there? Star Fox Racing? Pikmin 4? New Donkey Kong game?

All they need to sell me a N64 is Pokemon Stadium 1/2 minigames. The rest are a bonus.

I mean yeah. It's kind of a given so I don't think you need any leaks or anything to figure that out. Pokemon, MP4, Bayonetta 3, maybe SMTV, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Yoshi, etc. There's a lot of stuff and I can see how that'd be better than 2017.

Even more exciting!

Why I love Era in a nutshell, despite the insufferable stuff that is unfortunately too frequent :)

Yeah 2019 could be pretty insane if it has Animal Crossing, a new impressive Pokemon, Metroid Prime 4, Yoshi and who knows what else.

Retro's Star Fox game too.

Am I the only one hoping the Animals King Zell mentioned are the Star Fox team and were gonna see SF Grand Prix?
