Spider-Man launch week sales in Japan around 125k, similar to Uncharted 4 (GoW 46k, MinGolf 100k)

They reported on GOW's first 3 days of sales 13 days after launch. It takes time to collect sell through numbers instead of just reporting a shipment number.

This game has the potential to sell 20 million if its sales are also very good in the US. It's an amazing game too.

Spidey opening way higher than GoW in two markets doesn't necessarily mean it sold higher overall. It would be impressive if it actually did.

Good numbers, but comparison with GoW alone is flawed as 46k isn't that good. Included other comparisons that were decent sellers for Japanese market.
I would laugh at you for that right now. God of War didn't match UC4 launch week numbers in UK or Japan either but it's almost assuredly going to outsell it. And The Last of Us sold 17 million. Assuming an exclusive PS game is selling double that is nothing short of crazy.

I remember Uncharted 4 being so heavily marketed in Japan for years and big marketing everywhere. And at that time there was no games for PS4 in Japan much so that's all we had to look forward to hoping to redeem the PS4 purchase more at the time

Last of us sold 17 million on PS3+PS4. Spider-man isn't going to sell double on that. Even that 17 million alone on only PS4 would be amazing
seems like a cool premise for online multiplayer games. they can even expand it and you create your own spider-man kind of thing.
Spider-man was already recognizable before the movies. Japan had tons of media exposure to Spider-man since forever and beyond.

Maybe, but it would be foolish to assume that any Marvel character would be that popular if the recent movies didn't exist.
