Feels like a last minute change or they'lll pull a BOTW and have it be the cover for the review.yeah,the tease that Edge showed earlier screamed Red Dead to me more so than Cyberpunk

They've been using both for their marketing. I mean, they dropped a whole hour of gameplay with the female MC not long ago.

If that. They are not a fan of bloated open world games at all. I personally think they will give 7 although I rate it much higher.
They gave 8 to Arkham Knight and that game had many issues and mediocre side activities iirc. It will be interesting if they give this a lower score.
Sometimes I wonder why anyone bothers writing reviews anymore.
Arkham Knight is three years old, so it won't be all that surprising if they're harsher on this game having similiar issues that much later.
You might be right. If you compare to the Arkham games, particularly Asylum, Spiderman doesn't bring much new game design or gameplay wise compared to it.
City got a 9, Arkham Knight "only" an 8 and Origins a 6.
This is how video game mags works. In september you get the october mag, and in october you get the november mag. Reasons why the Spider-Man review will be in the november mag and not in the september mag.
They are not, but their previews and comments of some of their writers imply they do love the mechanics. One of their writers said Spidey was the most fun to control character since Mario in Odyssey. Not sure if he did the review though.
Pretty sure you can make them look like anything you want. Just can't change their names.
By all accounts this seems to have a decent story. Arkham Knight had an atrocious story. I think it was a solid game overall, so a flat 8 is justified. Edge have their own preferences though, which rarely align with my own.
Probably because the boring white man looks better than the boring white woman in this case.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was October... but November? This is ridiculous...

Maybe the same thing happened with Edge.
They tend to be lighter on games made in the U.K. See also: their favourable review of Sea of Thieves.
Or their 4 for Hellblade? This is simply not true at all.
An 8 for Arkham Knight was lower than most publications.
By edge standards, an 8 is generous. They treat 8's like a lot of other publications treat 9's.
Also, they tend to like mechanics led games and have a high tolerance for jank. That hellblade review is the exception, not the norm.
Hey, some of us are here just for the meltdowns. Edge is one of the only publications that uses the scale as intended.
Just saying their Arkham review is hardly an outlier. The whole notion that they have a UK bias is utter bullshit. If we're talking Rare, they were actually one of the few mags who didn't rate Donkey Kong Country all that much.
Nah. Spider-Man has better traversal, better combat, better storytelling and no Batmobile to drag everything down.
I mean AK side activities were rolled into the story based on villains. Like the Riddler stuff etc.

I'd expect a 6 or a 7 from Edge on Spider-Man tbh.
I will fully disagree but it is what it is. I cannot imagine it getting an 8 or above.
I don't care about him being white but male V is as interesting as watching paint dry. Female V didn't come across much better in the demo though so it's probably a V issue.
