64 had the Fighting Polygons
Melee had the Fighting Wireframes
Brawl had the Fighting Alloy Team
4 had the Fighting Mii team

Who will we fight in Ultimate?

Most of those teams are based on versions of existing characters with all of their personality removed, so I'm thinking Fighting Daisy Team.

We had this discussion weeks ago and we came to the conclusion that it would be Dittos.

This is a very good idea

Also, I think they could just use the alts of all the characters for the Multi-Man matches. Quoting myself from the previous thread:

When considering alternate costumes that change the fighter in question into a new entity / person entirely, there are 100 distinct, directly controllable "characters" in Smash Bros. Ultimate so far, using the word in a strictly semantic sense. I'll list here who was counted as well as who wasn't:
  1. Mario
  2. DK
  3. Link
  4. Samus
  5. Yoshi
  6. Kirby
  7. Fox
  8. Pikachu ♂
  9. Pikachu ♀
  10. Luigi
  11. Ness
  12. Captain Falcon
  13. Jigglypuff
  14. Peach
  15. Bowser
  16. Ice Climbers (Controlling Popo)
  17. Ice Climbers (Controlling Nana)
  18. Sheik
  19. Zelda
  20. Dr. Mario
  21. Pichu
  22. Falco
  23. Marth
  24. Young Link
  25. Ganondorf
  26. Mewtwo
  27. Roy
  28. Mr. Game & Watch
  29. Meta Knight
  30. Pit
  31. Zero Suit Samus
  32. Wario
  33. Snake
  34. Ike
  35. Squirtle
  36. Ivysaur
  37. Charizard
  38. Diddy
  39. Lucas
  40. Sonic
  41. Dedede
  42. Olimar
  43. Alph
  44. Lucario
  45. R.O.B.
  46. Toon Link
  47. Wolf
  48. Villager (1)
  49. Villager (2)
  50. Villager (3)
  51. Villager (4)
  52. Villager (5)
  53. Villager (6)
  54. Villager (7)
  55. Villager (8)
  56. Mega Man
  57. Wii Fit Trainer ♀
  58. Wii Fit Trainer ♂
  59. Rosalina & Luma
  60. Little Mac
  61. Greninja
  62. Mii Brawler
  63. Mii Swordfighter
  64. Mii Gunner
  65. Palutena
  66. Pac-Man
  67. Lucina
  68. Robin ♂
  69. Robin ♀
  70. Shulk
  71. Bowser Jr.
  72. Larry
  73. Morton
  74. Wendy
  75. Iggy
  76. Roy
  77. Lemmy
  78. Ludwig
  79. Duck Hunt
  80. Dark Pit
  81. Ryu
  82. Cloud
  83. Corrin ♂
  84. Corrin ♀
  85. Bayo
  86. Inkling (1)
  87. Inkling (2)
  88. Inkling (3)
  89. Inkling (4)
  90. Inkling (5
  91. Inkling (6)
  92. Inkling (7)
  93. Inkling (8)
  94. Daisy
  95. Ridley
  96. Simon
  97. Richter
  98. Chrom
  99. Dark Samus
  100. King K. Rool
  • both configurations of Ice Climbers are counted once each for being able to control either Popo or Nana directly in various alt costume slots
  • most Pokemon or animal characters are only counted once despite their alternate colors potentially making the case for some of them being distinct entities (Duck Hunt, for example)
  • each Pikachu is, however, counted separately since they have clearly displayed and emphasized differences
  • male/female alts are counted once each
  • characters such as Villager and Inkling have all costumes counted
  • Miis are counted once per type despite the fact that they count be considered nearly infinite in appearance
  • Rosalina & Luma are counted together despite the fact that it could be argued that one controls the two of them simultaneously (in a fashion notably different from Ice Climbers)
While the following are separate costumes or significant changes to appearance, they were not included in this total:
  • Builder or Wedding Mario
  • Link alts (such as Fierce Diety); this goes Young Link and Toon Link "Dark" alts as well
  • Captain Falcon Blood Falcon alt
  • Zero Suit Samus swimsuit alts
  • Overalls Wario
  • Distinct Ike appearances
  • Pokemon Trainer human characters
  • Hoodie or Wireframe Little Mac
  • Shulk swimsuit alt
  • Advent Children Cloud
  • Distinct Bayonetta appearances
  • Meta Ridley
I guess it could be said that my reasoning can seem a bit arbitrary regarding who to include. Anywho, it was fun to see exactly how many distinct "folks" were actually controllable through alts.

So they could just use all 100 of those folks

I actually thought it was the kappa at one point, but when I looked I realized it wasn't him. I looked past the pig completely, despite guessing him for another one! Very frustrating...

I have to keep doing better to catch up to HeartSkips!

The basket definitely made it a little more difficult too. I intentionally kept that with the silhouette.

Wait, really...?

Yep you got it! Sorry for the late response.

Oh sweet! Woot! I got to say, this was a good one, Hakkai's arm made a perfect side view of a face wearing a straw hat (no matter how I looked at it, I saw a face) and it looked he was carrying a giant backpack from that angle which made the silhouette feel more familiar than it actually was. I ran into Yuyuki when I was searching Shin Onishima and I thought "Oh, Journey to the West... wait, wasn't there a pig guy? What if... what if that hat is an ear?"

After the August Direct the blog posts went:

1. Direct
2. Simon Trailer
3. King K Rool Trailer
4. Generic post saying the smash site has been updated
5. Bloody Tears Remix
6. Simon character video
7. Simon memory
8. King K Rool character video
9. King K Rool memory
10. Richter character video
11. Richter memory
12. Abra
13. Gangplank Galleon Remix
14. Dracula's Castle
15. Chrom character video
16. Dark Samus character video
17. Dark Samus memory

After that all the new characters were covered.

What this tells us is that until they won't post character videos for veterans until all the new characters are done, so those 4 missing updates have to be related to a newcomer, but the 2 after Toon Link are not. The ones after Toon Link could be related to a new item or assist trophy or a music post, however.

What do you mean by memory?

What do you mean by memory?

On the Japanese site only, whenever they do a character update where they post their character video they will sometimes follow it up with a memory update, in which they talk a little bit about the game the character came from and post an image of the game's box and any extras inside. For example, for King K Rool they did a post on Donkey Kong Country, and for Dark Samus they did a post on Metroid Prime 2.
