Just watched this on Netflix. I needed to make a thread about how awful this movie is.

The acting, the characters, plot holes, and a bunch of shit that makes zero sense.

The emo Peter Parker street walking scene was awesome though.

I recently watched it with a friend too, I realized so many small errors.
In example, towards the ending part, there's a scene with Eddie going into the Church. When the scene first happens, it's night time yet when the door opens in the back behind him, it's day time.

I stupidly watch it twice in cinema...it was only on the second watch did I realised that man this movie is terrible with Raimi lazily recycling the final climax for the third time.

It's one of the 3 Spider-Man movies that I don't own on DVD, nor do I ever plan to.

I remember coming out of the theatre being so confused by what I saw, that I had no idea what to say about the film. I was literally speechless.

It definitely was far worse than the previous 2.
Personally, I think I only really enjoyed the first one, but I'm a huge Dafoe fan.

I'll break the trend and say that I watched in the theater and actually enjoyed it.

No real reason to go back to it these days.

I kind of liked it. Wasn't as good as Part 1 or 2 but was entertaining. The whole dancing part is hilarious though. I love the honest trailers of the movie.

I liked Spider-Man 3. Though I did think it was flawed. I know I'm in the minority thinking the Sandman plot should have been cut and Eddie Brock/Venom expanded.

I saw it in theaters with my brother, I was a kid who liked Spiderman and liked action movies and didn't have good tastes or high expectations. I still thought it was terrible and pretty sure I laughed a few times.

I actually just rewatched some bits thanks to it being on Netflix, JK Simmons is still a perfect casting but Topher Grace...then again I don't think anyone could make his shit good "I like being bad. It makes me....happy.

I have never watched it all the way through, only seen clips on TV and it was laughably bad. Such a shame considering how great the second movie was.

People stupidly overstate the "emo" humour of SM3. That part of the movie is waaaaay more enjoyable than the stupid romance melodrama

Imagine if it wasn't bad. I'd have welcomed more movies in that franchise, the first two were sogood.gif.

I still liked parts of it. I have nothing bad to say against the emo stuff. Just such a crowded movie, too many villains, Green Goblin II fell flat after all that build-up...Venom was there for some reason, which would've been fine if he was the focus.

Not sure why this movie didn't do better

According Raimi himself, he wanted this movie to just be Spider-Man vs The Sandman. However, they forced him to put in Venom because they felt that fans wouldn't watch another Spider-Man movie without Venom being in it. Raimi originally stated he didn't know much about Venom at all but ended up shoving him into the movie to please co-producer Avi Arad. Originally, this was supposed to also include Harry to end his arc and leave Spider-Man 4 to just being the vulture, too.

Yeah there's random stuff like Peter finding out MJ is being held hostage on TV. Decides to take his sweet ass time debating whether he should put on the Spider-Man suit or not. Takes his time to go to Harry's and have a full on conversation. How does he even know he's still alive after throwing that bomb at his face? How does he survive that with just some scarring when the symbiote and Eddie literally explode into ashes from the same thing in the end? This movie is so silly.

Yeah...on paper I like Venom a lot more... in the actual movie Sandman was the best part about it.

Sandman's CG was and still is amazing... particularly the birth sequence... but the actor who plays him... I still cannot see him as anything from his sitcom roots

Spider-Man 2 is the only really good film in the trilogy.
1 is overrated, IMO, by a lot of people.
3, while not very good, is not as bad as many people say, again IMO.
2, however, is really quite good. Molina really elevates what he has to work with.

Any of those three are better than the ASM movies.

Homecoming, however, was good and makes me look forward to future Spider-Man movies.

I still don't really hold anything against Raimi for Spider-Man 3. With all the random researching I did to find out why it was so bad, it turned out he was just forced to work with stuff he didn't originally plan. Forcing Venom into the movie to please his co-producers, plus the emo sequences, plus some terrible editing and such, who knows how Spider-Man 3 would of been if it really was just Sand Man vs Spider-Man along w/ the ending of Harry's arc.

Also I don't know if his shirt was accurate but dude always reminded of Blue's Club's

Still the 3rd best Spider-Man movie.
Homecoming>2>1>ASM1>3>ASM2

I really really didn't like McGuire as Parker or Spiderman though and am a huge Keaton fan so I'm biased. I will admit Homecoming doesn't have a lot of good action - mainly because it rarely has any at all.

Spider-Man 3 was a production nightmare. Raimi originally wanted a Vulture/Sandman team-up as the villains but Sony forced him to shove in Venom because of the character's popularity. Then they were freaking out about James Franco not re-upping his contract so the conclusion of his arc had to be rushed as well. And they were worried about Kirsten Dunst walking so Gwen Stacy had to be introduced so they could have a new love interest for future sequels. And apparently the entire climax was changed in reshoots for whatever reason.

Raimi and Sony were at odds the entire time, the script was a disaster, and most of the cast didn't even want to be there.

It's a huge bummer that the trilogy had to go out on such a low note.

I watched it on Netflix as I have never seen it. I would say the movie is more lousy than it is awful. The scenes involving Sandman were the best parts of the movie. It's easy to spot how the venom scenes were an after thought or not as regarded when you know Raimi only included Venom because of Arad.

Also, I got a chuckle seeing "Kevin Feige" in the opening credits

I only recently found out they were going to film a Spider-Man 4 and Raimi wanted to make up for 3 and not leave the series on a bad note.

Was very bummed.

They also had ideas for a 5th and 6th.

The movie should have focused on Sandman and Goblin being set up as the villain of the 4th.

Spider-Man 1 is a very good movie with 2 being top 2 CBMs. They deserved a better end to the trilogy.

The black suit looked really cool when it was revealed. I remember actually being at whatever convention (Wondercon? Comic Con? Been a while) it was where it was first shown.

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 would've been amazing.

Instead we have a clumsily stitched Avi Arad amalgamation that we call Spider-Man 3.

My biggest complaint may be incorrect, but iirc the "battle damage" on the Spidey suit was nearly identical to how it looked in SM1, especially the face part. That always bugged the crap out of me.

Half and half. There's some legitimately good parts, some bad parts that are entertaining and other bad parts that are just bad/hard to sit through.

My friends and I laughed so hard during this scene. That and Franco's "Sooo good" were gold. It was such a comic book movie. I had fun with the movie but I do wish it was better.

I also didn't like Topher Grace as Eddie Brock/Venom. I thought Thomas Hayden Chruch was going to be him when they had announced his casting. He would would have been older, but better than Topher.

From 'quake area to big OH.
Just watched this abomination.

The "so good" is still so good.

The emo sequence is mind blowing. Everything from the hair, and attitude was on point.

The symbiote crawling around effect was cool. There was something about it that looked right.

It's no masterpiece like Spider-Man 2 but at least the movie is bad in an entertaining way. Could have been worse.

Would have loved to see Raimi potentially redeem himself with a 4th movie but I'm fine with where Spidey is now on the big screen.

There's so much stupid shit in this movie that I can't believe Raimi even had a hand in it. Like the scene where Gwen Stacy is dangling off a skyscraper about to fall to her death. Her dad sees this and calmly asks: "what's she doing up there?" His daughter's about to die and he sounds like he's asking what's for breakfast.

I refuse to believe Raimi directed that scene. Some useless producer probably did that.

I love the fact that emo Peter Parker is getting some love here.

Let me be clear, Spiderman 3 was garbage. I also felt that 1 was borderline garbage saved by the over the top performance of Dafoe. I thought the second movie was amazing at the time but honestly has not held up outside one amazing action set piece and a great villain.

But when I was watching the train wreck that was 3 in the theaters I absolutely loved emo Parker...and all of its over the top goodness. It was so........I would not call it so bad it was good...it was something greater than that. The dance number alone was worth the price of admission.

It was like watching your hero... your idol...someone you grew up thinking was perfect...get drunk at an important event and make a fool of themselves. You are entertained and horrified at the same time.

Spider-Man 3 is a wonderful, terrible, mess of a movie. It's the gift that keeps on giving. It's one of those where each time you watch it, you realize something new about it. Only with Spider-Man 3, you realize more and more errors, and logical fallacies. It's a deeply flawed and broken film to a seemingly endless extent.

Has anyone seen the new/alternate scenes in the editor's cut from last year?

I did see the Editor's Cut, and while it does improve some aspects, no amount of reworking or editing can fix the movie they filmed. That being said, this is a wonderful scene.
