In terms of games coming out between now and the end of the year, probably most.

I have such a backlog and so many half finished games I want to get back to that I think the only new game I am for sure going to get this Fall will be Red Dead.

Spider-Man I might pick up once it gets discounted a little but the very typical open world-ness of it makes me a bit wary of it.
Battlefield V I'll probably wind up getting as soon as they can show me some actual large scale notable WWII battles post launch with some of the bigger factions like Russia, US and Japan, not these lesser known battles from early on in the war.

Pokemon Let's Go. First of all, I'm not quite sure I'll get it, but I love Pokémon, goddamn it. So I'll wait for reviews.
StarLink: Battle for Atlas. Game looks fantastic, and the addition of Star Fox crew on the Switch is looking great. But Ubisoft games usually drop in price after a while and this one doesn't seem to be an essential title for now, so I'll wait.

Red Dead Redemption 2
Spider-Man
Shadow of the Tomb Raider

All of those because I know they'll be cheaper within a few months, and I have plenty of games to play until then. Turns out, you can save a buck or two if you're patient.

Asscreed Odyssey looks incredible. may easily outdo RDR2 for me as i'm inclined more the the RPG side of open world

but so soon after Origins... i dunno. even if it's GOTY i'd rather play some other stuff first

Skipping SCVI and DOA6 since my main in both games aren't in the base roster. Will wait for whenever they release as dlc before giving either company a cent of my money.

Dragon Quest 11
I just want to play it on the Switch, I know if I get it on PC, Overwatch will take priority

Most of them except the very rare ones I can't wait because I'm too much a fan of the series, such as RDR2, RE2 Remake, Shenmue 3.
I get most of my games at less than 10€, and rarely around 20€. Recently at that price I got The Division GOTY (9€), FFXV Royal Edition (9€), Just Cause 3 GOTY edition (5€), Prey (9€), Wolfenstein II (5€), and so on. Why would I pay more if all I have to do is wait a few months? :p

Destiny expansion - waiting for fire sale, as probably just play for campaign and a few strikes.

I don't have interest in COD, Battlefield, Assassins Creed , Fallout so probably wont pick any of these games up unless there really cheap (unlikely for a long time I would say).

So the rest of the year is pretty light for me , (Tomb Raider,RDR2 and whatever comes in the xmas sales)

I'm waiting until 2019 for RDR2. I'm not a huge fan of Rockstar Games, I didn't like GTAV, and I had to choose between RDR2 or Assassin's Creed Odyssey due to budget/time.

So, I chose Odyssey.

Unless R* shows something that blows me away, I'll wait on it or pass entirely.

Dragon Quest XI and Valkyria Chronicles 4 cause Black Friday & holidays period is ever so near. I'm not bogged down in brand new games or anything either, cause alls I'm doing is replaying a 10 year old game and wrapping up another I started years ago. Just really dun make sense to me ta buy full priced $60 games releasing within 2~ months of the sales frenzy.

Dragon Quest XI until I can get it second hand to not fund homophobia.

Red Dead Redemption 2 until I know whether the writing is good after being burned by GTAV.

Red Dead Redemption 2 simply because I still haven't played the first. I mean, I own it and everything... it just got piled underneath the rest of my backlog.

I'm an idiot because I'll be buying games day one knowing full well I won't be playing them until further on. But Ass Creed Odyssey is a game I'll get day one knowing that I won't play it until maybe Spring of 2019. I didn't start/finish Origins until June of this year and it was such a solid summer title.

battlefield V. I had a pre-order down but I will likely cancel and buy it at a later date. The Beta was fantastic and I really enjoyed it but the whole experience was quite buggy and felt very unfinished. I think 6 months will give the dev team enough time to fix the issues and get a really good game out.

Only games I'm getting the rest of this year are RDR2 and Smash. I'm currently working thru Spider Man. After Smash Imma cop RE2 Remake. I'll play the new Tomb Raider and Spyro eventually but not sure when.

Spider-Man, Daemon X Machina, Devil May Cry 5, and Resident Evil 2 Remake because I want to get through my backlog. Depending on when Fire Emblem comes out, I'll have to do the same for that as well. I plan on getting Dragon Quest XI for the Switch. Only getting Super Smash Bros for now because, as a multiplayer focused game, it'll mainly be played with friends and family so it can't really add to my backlog

All games simply cause $60 is a bit steep considering games get discounted real quickly nowadays, plus my backlog can tie me over for years.
All of them. I haven't paid more than $25 for a game in years.

AC: Oddysey - Haven't played Origins yet either, probably going to wait til I upgrade my PC.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider - I've owned Rise for a year or so, still haven't played it..Will get around to it eventually.
Kingdom Hearts 3 - Still haven't beaten 2..Got to the part where you need to return to all the worlds again, which makes it the 3rd(?) time I'm having to go back to the Little Mermaid world..
Valkyria Chronicles 4 - I think this will sit in my backlog a while, so may aswell buy when it's cheaper.

Games I will get at launch for the rest of the year are RDR2, Smash, Hitman 2.

Skipping The Division 2 until maybe it's out for a couple years. Did the same for the first one and it turned out to be a good decision, as by then they had fixed many of the issues and had enough content and end game progression to be a considered a quality purchase.

Oh god, so many.

BFV: Beta wasn't good enough to justify day one price.

Tomb Raider: Previous games weren't good enough to justify day one price and this looks like more of the same.

Read Dead Redemption 2:
It's a Rockstar game. Plus open world and Wild West setting. Not worth day one price for me.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey:
It's an Ubisoft game.

Hitman 2: It's just the previous game with new levels. Which is fine, but I haven't finished the previous game, so I have no need to buy more content until I do.

Plus, like most people here, I just generally have a ton of game that I never finished, never even started or want to replay.

Just bought Spider-Man, and the only other game I plan to buy this year for myself is RDR2. I will also buy Smash Ultimate, but that's for my son for Xmas.

However, I may pick up some others on Black Friday if there are some good deals ;-)

Between FH4 and Hitman 2, I'll put Odyssey and RDR2 off until Christmas. I bought Mafia III in the shadow of FH3 and didn't give it the attention it deserved as a result.

battlefield 5, i usually love BF launches but the beta really turned me off the game whereas I've really enjoyed the COD battle royale beta, plus I've got a huge backlog now and RDR 2 I expect will consume a lot of time

just cause 4 as well, JC3 was a mess

on the fence on AC Odyssey, I enjoyed Origin but it took me like 7 months to finish the game (still haven't done the DLCs) so I could just wait 4-5 months and play Odyssey then

Valkyria Chronicles 4 - wanna play it since I really liked the demo, but I don't have the time right now because of school.
Forza Horizon 4 - technically will have it at launch because of game pass, but I doubt I'll get to play it much until school is over.
Octopath Traveler - again, time issues
Yakuza Kiwami 2 - same as above

SOTTR, Fallout 76 and RDR2. Played so many immersive spectacle games lately so will probably switch it up to more arcadey and retro stuff for a while.

I'm waiting on a Complete Edition with all DLC included.
Hopefully it'll arrive as a remaster on PS5 with a 60fps mode.

Probably Red Dead Revolver. Absolutely loved the first game but is Black Ops 4 coming out I'll be spending a ton of time on that.

Spider-Man. I'm in the middle of Fallout 4 so I don't have time for Spider-Man as well

The new Tomb Raider game the new Hitman game as well. I'll get them when the price drops to about 20 bucks

Pretty much any indie game is worth waiting an extra 6 months for because of all the patches that will inevitably arrive with significant bug fixes, balancing changes and added features/content.

So with that in mind...
  • Phantom Doctrine
  • Pathfinder: Kingmaker
  • Bard's Tale IV
  • Frostpunk
  • We Happy Few
  • The Long Dark (technically not new but still waiting on major patches)
  • Kingdom Come (might actually be ready now)
  • BATTLETECH

I'll skip Battlefield V. I like WWII setting, but every Battlefield I play a bit and never touch again.

Spiderman, I'll wait for it to go cheaper. Same with God of War. I got other things I have to pay for and while I want to play them, I'm not dying to.

I've got Red Dead, Fallout and Spyro, which are my must plays and they will fill up my free time for the rest of the year.

Spider-Man.

I was really hyped for it, and I still am. But I only owe $1000 on my car, so all my extra money is going towards that so I can finally pay it off! I'll probably pick up Spider-Man on a Black Friday sale.

Dragon Quest XI, waiting for the Steam sale and hopefully there will eventually be a music replacement mod.

Spider-man, I'll eventually buy a Pro and I'd rather play it then. Square Enix should really announce a pre-order for the Kingdom Hearts III edition Pro in the US.

Waiting for Bungie to patch out the bugs and dumb decision choices before I jump into Forsaken. Also loathe to pay full price for any Bungie product at this point.

Skipped Spider-Man since Dragon Quest 11 came out and next month Red Dead 2 comes out. The beginning of next year is going to be crowded too, so I probably won't get around to playing it until next summer or something.

Probably 428: Shibuya Scramble and Sekiro in the foreseeable future will be the games I skip. Not because of anything related to the games themselves, no, I started university a week ago and I don't think I will have the time to devote to games at all.

Spider-man. Sony put me in a very bad mood this year due to not allowing me to use my Fortnite PC purchases on Switch after only playing a one or two games on PS4 way back when. It also reduced my motivation to bother picking up Detroit or God of War until there's a very hefty sale on any of them. They don't deserve my money.

I've still got loads of games to play anyway. Making my way through DQXI on PC, got Shenmue 1 & 2 to finish up on PC, still only 1/3 through Octopath on Switch, and many others.

As for in the future. AC and Tomb Raider are the ones that come to mind, and it's basically because I've not finished the last so why buy now...

Shadow of the Tomb Raider - wasn't the biggest fan of Rise and this seems to basically be a continuation of that but better in some aspects. I'll pick it up when it's on sale, likely on Black Friday, because I still want to finish the trilogy.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 - this one's a maybe for me. I'm already picking up Xenoblade 2 Torna this month, and then I have TWEWY Final Mix in October and Pokemon in November, so I'm not exactly hurting for an RPG fix, and I never finished VC Remastered on PS4. I have it preordered for now but we'll see how I feel closer to launch.

Dragon Quest XI - waiting for the Switch version, whenever that comes

Skipping Spiderman until I'm done with DQ. By the time I'm done with DQ, I can rent it easily and get through it in a weekend. Plus some of the "holy shit this is the best game ever made literally handed down by god" hyperbole will have died down a bit.

I'm bailing on Red Dead Redemption 2 until I don't know when. The prequel shit has just made my hype absolutely 0. I honestly don't know if I'll ever play it, which is a shame because I loved the first one.
