NieR: Automata is the game of the decade for me. Maybe I'd put Monster Hunter World above Breath of the WIld, or just one slot below.

What are you guys on???? At the very least this year has been better than 2015-16.

You're gonna have to start listing games for us here.

2015 had Rocket League and MGSV (2 top 5 all timers for me)
2016 had Doom, Hitman, The Witness, Overwatch, Dark Souls 3, Dishonored 2, Civilization 6 (all better than anything form this year)

PUBG, Prey, Divinity 2, Hollow Knight, War of the Chosen, Cuphead, Nioh, Odyssey, Destiny 2, Tekken 7

Just off the top of my head.
This year has been much better if that's the list you're going with

GoW
Into the Breach
Spider-Man
Motherfucking Donut County
DBFZ
Dead Cells
Dragon Quest 11
Yakuza 6
Yakuza Kiwami 2
Octopath Traveler

Into The Breach is the only game here I like.

Different tastes man. This year is incredibly weak. Looking at your list, it is even weaker than I realised.

Fucking hell, Rich just got fired for something he said back when he was working at Gamespot? That's insane.

Like, Monster Hunter World will probably be a top 5 game for me this year, and I barely even like it.

2016 will be a very hard year to beat for Doom and Hitman alone. The only real megaton banger of 2018 that I can see is RDR2.

I would put Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Yakuza 0, or Nier Automata above anything I've played in 2018, no question at all.

2018 has had a lot of good games, but none that have floored me. The closest would be Dead Cells, although I did play a lot of it last year (even tho a lot has changed with it)

I've also recently gotten back into They Are Billions. That game is good

I've heard Spider-man is backloaded tho, and I am having a good time, so I could see it moving up to #1 for me by the end

I haven't felt that strongly about any game I played this year the way I did last. But I played a few very good games. Weirdly, most of them on PS4. I tend to mostly play PC games but God of War, Spider-Man, the two Yakuza. I'm playing my PS4 more this year than most years.

Unless something is slipping my mind, there's also nothing I'm all that excited for in the rest of the year.

I mean, unless Red Dead Redemption 2 stops looking boring.

People need to just stop getting pissy about other's opinions. Like, if I call it a weak year and you think it's a strong year neither of us are wrong.

Blackout seems like the BR with sharp mechanics I was waiting for.

Don't think I'll have much time this year for MP, but Treyarch and Raven seemed to have nailed it, which is impressive considering this is something they probably slapped together in a few months once the campaign fell apart.

My two cents are that 2017 and 2018 are the years I've bought the most games in recent years. That is a bit of a coincidence since I do have a whole lot of disposable income since 2016.

I'm trying my hardest to think past 2016 and I'm completely blanking out. There was definitely a time where I did not buy as many games as I have the past 2 years. The only things I remember buying are like..smash bros and pokemon games. Maybe the odd PC game now and then.

So in conclusion: everyone has different tastes. Shaped further by their disposable income.

At this point I'm just wondering how the UI and inventory management will differ for PC.

Haven't tried a COD on PC before, do they usually put extra work in making it a better PC experience or just port it over and expect people to use controllers anyways?

I liked Persona 5 a fair bit. Though the twewy remaster videos and screens + the full music tracks makes me realize that p5's city aesthetic got out fucking classed like 10 years prior.

I liked persona 5 too, it's just funny seeing people going about listing 2018 games either for or against and nobody mentioned persona 5 lol.

Man people in this thread forgot about persona 5 huh
It's great but flawed. The story isn't really satisfying since it's a bunch of villain of the month stuff and the back third is really bloated, and a lot of the party members could be replaced with blank NPCs outside of their confidants. But it's got fantastic combat, music, and some of the best style I've seen in a game. Had a lot of fun with it but I think the weak story and characters made it not stick with me

the music of the year argument should have a whole day to itself
