This is why Alph should have been echo fighter, so we can get Rock Pikmin.
Honestly, though, Pikmin doesn't need two separate fighters. Here's a way to implement Rock Pikmin without compromising the existing ones. Change Purple Pikmin to be thrown at an arc to then slam the ground as they do in the games, and then either make the Rock Pikmin take the previous function of the Purple Pikmin or have the Rock Pikmin bounce off of foes, making them safer on the return and quick to return, which also makes them better projectiles.
Yeah it was one of my early Ultimate bummers. Alph was practically made to be an Echo (I mean, apparently literally). In any case the little fellers are my favorite type of Pikmin so it sucks to see them out. Not to mention that Olimar's moveset just feels, I dunno, just slightly incomplete with 6/7 types in there. Like you said they could just add them to the standard moveset with no issues. Really wish they would have :'<

I always imagined Rock Pikmin being like Purple Pikmin, except lighter and weaker, so they'll fly farther but do less damage and they'll also be the best at breaking shields.

Looking at source from the site seems to indicate that the Smash site has skipped a week's worth of scheduled posts.

A series having music revealed before a new character means that series has no new non-echo character to be announced.

It means there is a new smash character in the direct this week.
I told you. I said we would get 2 characters in this Direct. If they have one more reveal in October or do 3 reveals in the Smash Direct that means we could have 10 Newcomers. If Echoes are the same than we could have 20 Fighters in this new game. That's just fucking wild man.
