Does anyone think the background of Distant Planet looks kind of bland now?
It almost seems like it had more detail when the background was just a 2D image

Pikmin is my favorite series. I'm sad we're not getting a newcomer, but I'm happy we get a sick new remix and the Music Rule lives another day.
The Bulborb doesn't move from the background in Brawl and Smash 4 3DS (because it's literally just an image), but I guess that might be a new feature of Ultimate.
But Ultimate is also missing some of the plants and minor details the original had in the background.
the background might have more animation to it so it is no longer blurred forever.
On the topic of Pikmin, they really should let Olimar have his voice in Smash instead of just being silent.
I distinctly recall the part from 0:14, but for the life I can't recall it. Can anyone help a fellow Pikmin fan out?

Isn't it a variation on the beginning part of the Pikmin 1 opening menu?
First they should actually give the Donkey Kong characters and Bowser their actual voices instead of weird animal/monster growls

I think it looks a lot better! There are multiple Cloaking Burrow-nits that (presumably) move around as opposed to the static image version. The Bulborb could very well wander and make appearances as well. Finally, the site shot for the updated version is zoomed out a bit, so we can't see the Smash Soda can. I think it looks a whole lot better. Especially the moss lining the ramp on the left, as well as the mushrooms.
There was a Megaman X remix in the last direct. There's a Woodman remix in Megaman's character trailer.
I've talked about that before, they're all on the list of characters that need to have their voices changed to accurately represent themselves.
It's especially weird in the case of Donkey Kong's who's VA is voicing new lines for Ganondorf in the same game.

There was a point not too long ago when I thought stages on the 3DS were doomed to be stuck there forever, even the classic stages. I was concerned because Distant Plant is one of my favorite Brawl stages for casual play and I didn't want to see it rot in 240p hell. Just look at those gorgeous textures right there!
Before Ultimate, the only stages to return to the next game were ones that had been in the previous game, and since I thought the next Smash would be based off the Wii U, I thought the 3DS stages were doomed.
Turns out I was way off and nearly every 3DS stage returned, new or classic.
He had a voice? Or something more than just grunts and groans?
You may be on to something, although I was thinking more in terms of actual play.

I seriously cannot understand why Olimar and Alph have gone unvoiced. You could very easily rip their clips from any of the games.

Pikmin 4 is going to be that game they announce on a Nintendo Direct and say "It's out next month".
You first hear his voice in Pikmin 2 where he and Louie say their own names when you switch between them. Their voices are deep, but Louie's is kinda creepy.
Tbh I can see it being a nice late summer/early fall game for next year. That's based on nothing but I really think they should drop it for the fans, it's been a while heh.
To think Pikmin would get a remix from one of the Yakuza composers.
This one was pretty interesting to listin because of that.
