And come on, do people really play facebook games in 2018?

Yes.

And the Instant Games initiative is getting additional platform investment as well as a complete rework of the revenue sharing agreement with developers so even more games should be on the way.

Like the matrix, I can't tell you what minesweeper is like nowadays, you have to experience it for yourself

Just installed it... it seems ok?

it's surprising how many people on this thread seem defensive about the PC pourcentage.. I mean it's one of the most popular game device nowadays, if not the most. And come on, do people really play facebook games in 2018?
Yes absolutely. Millions and millions and millions of people do. You gotta look outside of the gamer forum bubble. Casual browser games are huge. Would not surprise me at all at a pure human count that there are more people who play browser games on a computer than play steam.

I didn't even know mobile gaming is that huge... yet my 5s can't even handle any games now so probably that's why :P

It shocks me when people are shocked about PC numbers.

Many of the most popular games on the planet are PC exclusives.

Sure, a console centric market like the Us is going to skew away form that, but common.

Remember, a lot of those PC games that you think are most of that number aren't, in fact. Mat says that any game played on the PC is included so a lot of the smaller/casual games will make up a large percentage of those PC Gamer numbers.

Just like consoles includes people that only buys madden or FIFA, the majority of consoles gamers aren't hardcore.

As someone who plays on all of those platforms those stats are great to see. I can imagine much bigger numbers by say, 2024 as more investments in social, cloud and eSports are made.

Why are people so surprised that PC > console?
Even without the so called "grandma in retirement home playing facebook", PC is still a big market.
Many PC exclusive also happens to be some of the biggest titles in gaming: CS:GO, League of Legend, DotA.
Those 3 alone have a lot of active players who play nothing else, but put a lot of hours into each respective game.
