Tbh this will be the first direct where Ultimate will likely not be taking up the majority of the showing.
So it's hard to gauge where they will go with this.
My post was more of what may potentially happen.
I'm personally only expecting a newcomer with a new Echo fighter. Maybe details on the online if this direct goes into detail on which games will use the paid service.

Yep. We'll get A newcomer trailer as the opener or the closer and I think that'll be it for Smash.
Not officially by Nintendo, but outside sources (namely Nintendo Life) seem to point it towards 13th September
Not "officially", but a site broke embargo when they got the press email. The official announcement should be tomorrow morning.

That game's soundtrack was really something else, I'd love it to be part of smash in some way. It's really sad to me that only Yoshito Sekigawa's only stuff in Smash is Radiant Dawn music. RD has a great soundtrack, but Code Name STEAM and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin are probably their best.

Eh. More exciting than some widely talked about ones right now but she's fairly meh as well
Elma is the most exciting of picks.
Kirby also has the dragoon which, knowing kirby lore, can probably break the speed of light or something, handily beating out Capt. Falcon's cute race car.
I guess it depends on how you rate exciting potential newcomers but she's got a lot going for her.
Hell yeah! I get why the game didn't take off, but it's still a shame. The music being one of the biggest reasons.
Did people hate Meta Knight in Brawl as much as Bayo in 4? Bayo gets a ton of hate, but I don't remember MK getting as much hate as Bayo, even though he was even more broken.
I'd be down for a Code Name S.T.E.A.M rep. if they choose the main character, then they'd definitely need to get a new voice actor.
Bayo got nerfed and while she's still stupid strong and pretty dominant she's not the unstoppable behemoth that MK was in Brawl, who's probably still banned outright.
Brawl wasn't really played competitively, so Metaknight was just a bullet point on a long list of why Brawl wasn't a good fit for high level play

That's not what I really asked. MK has been banned on some places while Bayo hasn't, but I was asking how people reacted to MK. Do I remember wrong, or is Bayo getting more hate than Brawl MK?
You are, because TOs were banning Bayo prior to her nerf too. Reactions to Bayo seemed very measured to me, mostly a reaction to her initial poor balance. MK being outright broken, unpatchable and having no fair matchups at all made him a clear target for many years.
Philosophers have debated this for generations; the only consensus is that Isabelle is a sandwich.
Speaking of music that likely won't get in but would be awesome in Smash, Etrian Odyssey has some tunes that would be hype to fight to. And it's even a fully Nintendo exclusive franchise!
End of Raging Waves/Winds is evidently a fan favorite since it's been remixed time and time again in the mainline titles. I'd be down with any of its versions getting in.
Gameplay-wise, Elma could be very intriguing to see implemented in smash. With two sets of dual weapons, arts like Shulk, or an overdrive mode. She could be very versatile and also reward risky play. I could see her ultimately playing like a mix of Bayo and Shulk, maybe with an overdrive meter like Mac or Cloud.
Have we given up completely on a Pyara and/or Rex and his blades rep?
I never fully understood why the whole "2015 design doc" inhibited them from being included at launch... but it seems any interest or murmurs about them joining have completely faded. I would seriously main Pyra.
