I've made a huge mistake. I installed the game knowing damn well I won't be playing it until December the earliest. I played up until the missions where you have to
craft a chest piece
so it's very early, but I did some exploring and messing about for 30 mins, it's absolutely incredible so far. I should not have given in and teased myself.

OG controls though, really glad they included them as an option.

Oh, and ambient music baby!!!!!!!!!!

OG controls? You can choose to use the AC Claw™?

Parts Unknown.
I mean, that scale is 100% wrong so why bother? (Those 2 games are... extremely similar).
That scale it mainly based on how much I remember enjoying them. Things can be similar, but one you enjoy the other you don't. I really liked Rome. Exploring London not so much. For a better frame of reference.
Brotherhood- Liked Rome
Black Flag- I'm on a boat
2- I liked that they added a city to upgrade and Armour tiers.
1- First time I had seen parkour exploration in a game so it was new and different.
3- Conner could be a drag, but then again he was a Native American during the Revoultionary War. Not much to be happy about.
Unity- Was ok. Not great just ok
Syndicate- Was bored the whole way through. I did like the brass knuckles and saving children from work houses.
So where would you slide Origins into that from first impressions?

Cool, thanks.
I look forward to seeing their Egypt, and how often to you encounter crocs around the water? Also please tell me they do more than just float there like they do in the Far Cry games.

The wildlife in general is spaced out and placed appropriatly, crocs included - and they can be pretty aggressive in that they'll chase after you and get into full blown fights.

So, loot- should I be selling everything in my trinkets tab, or are some things useful to keep?

And old weapons and armor- should I be dismantling or selling?

I mean... yeah. He's a guy out in the world. I did the same my first time around. If you're an explorer and completionist, you'll frequently pre-complete quests: you'll talk to a quest NPC and the objective will already be done.

If it helps, the others aren't just wandering around. I actually wish they were.

Wow, that's all I wanted the entire time I was reviewing it.
I think it's moreso that it just happened so suddenly and was decidedly the complete counter to what Assassin's Creed mission structure was throughout the past. And having played through Unity, Syndicate, and Rogue in the past couple of months ahead of this release, it was a bit of a shock. Now that I know, I'd love it if future targets were like that, but from what you said, they aren't. I guess it's a good thing that the side-quest stuff seems to be along those lines.

I'm obviously going to keep playing but initial impressions are that that it feels quite disjointed from a story telling and presentation perspective. I hope it's just a matter of me not being used to the new direction just yet.

Do the daily quests. Because it gave me a ridiculously OP shield that vastly outclassed anything else I had. I'm barely in the story lol I need my hidden blade but can't stop doing quests.

I've just joined here (hi :) ) and this thread is long already... I've got a question. Does Origins have an in-game encyclopedia like the others, with notifications when you get to a new landmark and so...? Or just the new game mode to launch in the future?

Very nice. I need to stop site seeing and standing around with my jaw on the floor so I can actually get something done. But for now I am just blown away by Egypt.

It has zero location, character, history or anything else. It was replaced by an email server when you go to modern times that is absolutely chock full of absolute bullshit retaining to the person who is in the VR machine. You know, the single person that no one gives a shit about. There is so much copy written about the modern world and it's awful.

It's the most disappointing aspect of the game, which by all other accounts is the best AC I've played to date.

I know the "learning mode" is coming next year, but a huge chunk of the enjoyment of exploring and playing an AC game is missing for the first time.

There is actually more world lore in Mario Oddyssey than in this game.

Picking my PS4 copy up today after work the ole Best of Buys.

For those who have played some where on the Assassin's Creed scale would you put this, with Botherhood being the best and Syndicate being the worse?

I didn't play the first 3, but I like this better than Black Flag so far (and Black Flag was my favorite).

Brilliant OT. Makes me want to buy the game but I'll probably wait for a price drop. They lost me with Unity and I was a diehard fan of this series prior to that. There is just too much good content out there for me to play right now but I'll definitely keep my eye on this one.

Ok thanks for the reply. Actually, it was more for a friend (who will be sad to hear), but it's a shame for me too because Egypt is such an interesting and yet unknown setting to me and it would have been more interesting than usual in that sense.

Digital Foundry have put up video comparing PS4 and Pro and an article which also has some Xbox One impressions:

Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFC3zolgveA

Article has Xbox impressions:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...mance-analysis

In short. PS4 Pro has some minor hitches and frame spikes during game play, and terrible drops to 22, 23 FPS in cut-scenes. OG PS4 is mostly the same but has more frequent game play drops and Xbox One is even worse than that with 1, 2 fps more drops compared to OG PS4.

PS4 Pro runs in dynamic res with max being 1550p (low being 13xxp), OG runs at 1080p with drops below it and Xbox One has even more drops with a low of 792 p.

What is up with the sound in this game? It sounds out of phase or something - like I've got a bad head cold.

Does it sound as if you're underwater? Or as if Bayek got a bucket of sand ('It gets everywhere!) in his ears? Because my girlfriend had the same problem an hour ago when she started her playthrough and it got solved by restarting the game. It was funny hearing Bayek grunt, because he sounds like a cow in that situation :P

You can sell trinkets, at shops you can sell them all using the 'sell unnecessary items'-button. Sell old weapons and shields if you need gold, otherwise dismantle them for crafting materials (bows for wood, shields for bronze etc.).

I imagine this stuff will be implemented with the tourist mode. For now, it seems like a net negative. Having this information was always a big plus in AC games for me, but I won't miss having to constantly fight the urge to stop and read about this or that during my first playthrough.

Have you noticed that you even get XP for knocking down enemy who is harassing NPC? In my case was soldier in Siwa who was harassing some poor NPC.

1440p scales up really nicely on a 4K display from my experience, this is just more proof of that.

I always get so overwhelmed with what to do in open world games that it takes me a couple of days to get into them.

Yeah, I'm playing it on a 4K TV, looks really clean. I noticed the cut-scenes were wonky in frame rate and the video/article confirms it. The cut-scenes have pretty bad frame rate drops. Let's see what the XBX version looks like. I hope it's not a case where because of the marketing partnership, more focus was paid there and other versions were left to the winds.

I saw on the back of the XB1 cover it supports Dolby Atmos, does anyone know if that is exclusive to the XB1X, or does this game output Atmos even from a XB1S?

Everything about this game is scratching every itch I had about this franchise. We shall see how it pans out when I put in more and more hours, but thus far this is sitting in my top 3 of AC games.

I gotta say, I'm really impressed with how they handled Bayek's character, or rather just his character. He isn't another goddamn Ezio clone, nor a complete straightman like Altair, Connor, or Evie. They gave the man (both the character and the actor that does a great job of bringing him to life) a lot of range and room to be expressive and just emotional--beyond rage and arrogance. Arno was the last time they tried to have someone interesting as the protagonist (though I thought Shay was much better, clichés aside) and while he started off as the charming rogue, the further along his story and character developed it seriously petered out.

We'll see how he's handled once I've beaten it, but so far he's got to easily be one of my favorite AC protagonists.

This is exactly how I'm feeling with it right now. It's really doing it for me in every aspect so far.

Enjoying the game so far after skipping everything between AC2 and AC: Black Flag (didnt finish) and then until AC: Origins.

Controls are greatly improved except I hate that crouch and climb down are on the same button (playing on PC with Dualshock 4, bless Ubi for complete support). I like the world so far but where's all the world building? Not a fan of how they just dropped me in at the start of the game too..

I've only had the chance to play it for 25 minutes or so today, but it's certainly intriguing so far. I quite like what I experienced of the new combat system, even if the attack/block commands being moved to the shoulder buttons is throwing me off a bit after being so used to the incremental changes the series used to have.

I really like him as well and am really enjoying playing as an Egyptian. That's a rarity in and of itself.
