I only like three arcs in all of Naruto.
Naruto is just a great character on paper. He's just such a loser (with having no social skills being his main drawback) and is so sad that growth from him is always satisfying.
Except when he convinces Nagato that his entire political philosophy is wrong in a few random shouted sentences.

Maybe they weren't sure exactly when it was going to air. Maybe it was slightly more complicated to coordinate than you think.

To be fair, while Bakugo is a disaster character that brings the whole series down. At least I respect that they didn't make him into a villain, he's just a shitty "good guy". I always fully expected him to be more Sasuke.
They likely had to adapt it and sort out things with third parties, so not announcing the day then makes sense. However, the Direct not being re-announced once both America and Japan started advertising again shows, to me, that it's Nintendo wanting to keep the "hype cycle" (for lack of a better term) intact the way it was. They're definitely the kind of company who wants to do things on their own terms, and that includes sticking to their usual announcement-to-release schedule for Directs despite the terrible circumstances surrounding it.

I'm not up to date with the anime, but I read a lot of the manga, so maybe I already saw what you're talking about and it didn't change my opinion about him much? Not sure. I should start reading/watching it again, but while not disliking it, I kinda lost my interest in the story.
I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, but it has to be said that not announcing the date keeps us hanging around and checking their news.
