With this unprecedented update, the Vita is on its way to becoming the most stable handheld in history. Have you grabbed the update yet? I recommend updating your Vita over wi-fi for maximum comfort and efficiency!

According to the hacker who made the 3.68 hack, 3.69 does patch one part of it, but less thoroughly then anticipated. It doesn't guarantee a new hack though, as it seems Vita hackers suffer from burnout.

God damn it Sony...

SD2Vita and access to PS Store was really awesome and made me fall in love with the device even more than I did before.

Vita. The biggest underrated handheld ever. Nintendo can learn a lot from it in regards to the Switch, especially basic functionality and communication.

I recently got a Vita to play PSP and PSOne Classics and I've got to say it's a nice device. But the back touch pad is horrendous, as is the lack of R2 L2 and the UI is ugleh. Also I wish it could stream or output to TV.

You weren't kidding. There really is an update. Is Crash and Spyro compatible now in the NA region?

The Vita 3.69 update, as far as I can tell, is meant to add the GDPR stuff to EU units, apparently fix something related to not being able to browse the store properly and, above all, prevent H-Encore (HENkaku for 3.65+) from running. Nothing else has been added. No compatibility with newer games (so far), no backwards compatibility with non-working PSX Classics, etc. It's purely a "stop hacking" firmware, like all of the previous firmwares for the past couple years.

The Wii U update only adds the GDPR stuff to EU consoles. If you have CBHC, then you need to reinstall it, as the update overwrites the system.xml file that triggers the hack. Other than that, it's completely safe. It doesn't change anything in US consoles, in fact.

It's useless then. Henkaku users have been able to spoof PSN version check for months and the lastest maidump allows to decrypt 3.65+ games and run them on lower firmware.

Interesting that this comes on the heals of a Sony official who states they are still exploring the future potential of a handheld market. I don't think it means much for the Vita itself, but I do think we haven't seen the end of Sony handheld gaming hardware.

This isn't an educated guess by any means. But rather, just a hunch. It is likely nothing.

I sold my vita 6 months ago, should buy it again since I miss some games that I only want to play there instead of a ps4

This firmware, just like the previous four or five firmwares since 3.60, has been a reaction to HENkaku. There's certainly nothing to read the between the lines here.

Edit: Confirmed by TheFloW. H-Encore doesn't work on 3.69.

Cannot wait for this! I just updated to 3.68 recently and was very impressed. This looks even better somehow.
