This is really creepy. Also kind of wondering if it puts Kaoru and Kenshin's whole relationship in the manga in a new light considering the age gap there

Nobuhiro Watsuki and John Lasseter on the same day? Yeesh.

I'm glad I'm pretty good at separating the art from the artist because this is just devastating. I feel like I can't support any product by him with money anymore. Maybe donate to some good causes against child exploitation instead...

I always wondered how does this people always had access to child pornography?
I doubt that they bought it on an adult shop and Im sure that as soon as you google it the fbi or the japanese equivalent will hunt you down at the minute. And even worse, how do they even meet other pedophiles? Im sure that people are not shouting on the street that they are human trash.

Are you trying to say that I watch shit like that? Because I don't.
If you're curious about my post, just use Google because stuff like that is pretty common in anime/manga.

Fam, there is like 1-3 animes like that every season, it's more common than you may think

I mean it can't be that common where I watch anime every season and can't recollect if any had anything of the sort. I'm also not gonna paint a broad assumption of an entire medium, that's just illogical to me.

My two volumes of Kenshin will go in the trash can in the very near future.

Oda was part of the clique in jump trying to make Toriko a thing so... at the least Oda's said he doesn't mind if his friends are doing it.

Wait a sec'... This is the first time I'm hearing the story about Toriko's author.

Are you telling me that Toriko was launched with Oda and Toriyama's help (crossover episodes) AFTER those facts were known ?

Yes at least for Oda. Almost everybody in Jump 2000-2005 would have known cause Weekly Shonen Jump cancelled his series in the mid '00s due to him being convicted.

Toriyama may not have known because he wasn't active at that time, and, by the time Toriko launched, it would have likely faded from public conscious.

I live in a giant bucket.
The only thing that would make me raise an eyebrow is if Aoshi returned those feelings.

Watsuki had confirmed the two eventually married in an interview.

I can see why people are pointing out the age gaps but bear in mind hers was the same as Kaoru's and as mentioned before the Meiji period did have such marriages (remember that Kenshin himself married Tomoe when he was a teenager, although they were only a couple years apart).

The thing about that is that we really don't know any of the details about it. It could've been an honest mistake on his part. "Could've" is the keyword there. It's hard to know for sure cause we know so little of what happened and the circumstances that surrounded it. He's still at fault here mind you, I'm not saying what he did was right and ok but it was a situation we know little about other than it happened. On the other hand, Watsuki just literally got caught with child porn and admitted he was a pedo in his deposition.

Given how candid Watsuki seemed to be in his "Free Talk" sections in the Kenshin manga, wonder if this collection was alluded to at some point, and we all glossed over it.

I've reread volumes 1-9 of recent and I can't think of anything that would hint at this. He mostly talks about the anime, drama CD, casting, etc, or how frustrated he is with himself for falling behind or audiences getting on his case for having made a bit of mess with the story here and then. But that's just volumes 1-9, maybe he went hog wild with talk of preteen girls/idols later on.

From Wiki: "Philip Jenkins notes that there is "overwhelming evidence that [child pornography] is all but impossible to obtain through nonelectronic means." The Internet has radically changed how child pornography is reproduced and disseminated, and, according to the United States Department of Justice, resulted in a massive increase in the "availability, accessibility, and volume of child pornography." The production of child pornography has become very profitable and is no longer limited to paedophiles."

So yeah, internet ruined everything.

I actually had no idea the deep web was THAT big in comparison to the surface web. That's ridiculous. How the fuck do you regulate something like that without burning the whole thing down?

Eh, the case of the Toriko author is different. The information on his crimes are publically available. The guy's series at the time was cancelled, and Oda was friends before and after the event. Saying someone condones their friends behavior falls differently than saying they are criminal.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsutoshi_Shimabukuro

It runs into the discussion of what should people do when they find out their friends committed certain crimes. I'm of the opinion Jump should have never offered Shimabukuro a chance back, and any friends should have disassociated with him.

Not with the 1000 year old excuse. Hell, what even has that in general? You got Eva from Negima/UQ Holder, that Vampire Bund girl and I guess Nowi/Tiki from Fire Emblem. Arguably Kanna from Maid Dragon.
Yeah you got me there, can only really think of Eva from UQ this season and I haven't watched it but I'm sure it's her in her adult form

These artists doing so is reprehensible and disgusting. But it would be more troubling if the founder of a mayor religion, like say Jesus, came to light did such. If people kept such as a role model in every aspect after such, could be real harmful for society.

I'm sorry but this is a scaremonger statistic. Not only is that size a made up guesstimate, it also counts stuff like company networks and services accessible on the internet (but not on google, obviously), as "deeb web", vastly inflating the number to make it sound ominous.
Of course there's tons of shady and illegal shit going on in non-public websites, but calling everything not accessible by search engines "darknet" and putting a size on it is at best misleading.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd think that "dark" in this context means "not visible" as opposed to "evil".

I did find it odd that the sum total of daily social networks, legitimate and illegitimate streaming, known commerce, and general web hosting infrastructure can be dwarfed by literally anything.

showing regret about not supporting a pedophile's work in the past seems a bit...wrong
More like I only saw the anime and seeing the more complete manga story was always on my bucket list, but now that I think about it I actually feel better about that since a lot more people put their blood, sweat and tears into the anime whereas the manga was obviously the mangaka's baby. If I were forced to spend time on one or the other I'd definitely have to go with the anime (or the live action films which I haven't watched either) know what I know now.

Wow, my very first Manga I actually physically owned. I'm extremely baffled and disappointed. And him buying it is just as bad as doing it himself to anyone who thinks they are different. The money he pays for the (100?)videos, go towards the people that do the child sex trafficking, and his money is showing support for their trafficking.

I don't recall if that happened in the manga or not.

Normally this trope is fairly common in manga/anime (hell I'd say even in other Western media). The problem is when you now look at it through the eyes of someone who consumes child porn.
