I don't really agree here, I'm sure there's a lot of consideration being done here when it comes to choosing third parties. There's a lot of licensing work and all being done and I'm sure Sakurai has to decide if they're worth the trouble or not. So it won't shock me at all if the criteria for 3rd party characters are stricter than 1st party since there's more risks involved. Nintendo characters are much less riskier and have a bigger focus. Not to mention with the limited roster for 3rd parties, they have more competition with each other too.
Like I said, I'm not gonna argue against Steve's chances. He might as well have a chance but I wouldn't really put him in the same situation as Wii Fit Trainer, Villager and G&W.

No, Notch deserves every millimeter of dragging his Neo-Nazi face gets. Notch was always a bigoted creep, but I stanned for Kanye for too long, & his what-was-blatantly-a-manic-episode that ended the Life of Pablo tour gives him some empathy in my eyes.
Notch just started to make a game he couldn't even bother to finish, & blamed women & minorities for him still not being happy.
World Bowser is the 2nd best stage idea I can think of with Fountain of Dreams back in HD. It's just edged out ahead of Ultra Space, & is only behind Literally-Anything-But-The-1-1-Stage-From-Any-DKC... World.
Steve is such a charmless, bland, and soulless character - by design, honestly, since he's supposed to be an empty avatar, not a "character" in his own right - that I'd actually be fascinated to see how Sakurai adapts him to Smash. Like, so much love and affection and detail is given to the third party guests in particular. How the fuck would he fit that janky, blocky motherfucker in?
But I doubt he'd do it. Monster Hunter didn't get a character, it got a monster. If Minecraft gets in, it probably won't get a character either - it'll get a stage. (And maybe a Creeper AT, or stage hazard, or something.)

Id looove to have a Bowser's Castle based off of the one from odyssey . Especially if it has its theme. Best Bowser's Castle Aestically
The odds of Mario getting 2 new stages with such a small new stage count is basically 0.
We'll have yet another Smash game with no Bowser's castle, or even a stage for Bowser to call home. Not even an Airship.
It's probably why we haven't really gotten many Bowser remixes. They just get stuck on Luigi's Mansion where they don't really fit.

I sometimes forget Minecraft even has music. I always turn the music volume all the way to 0%. Not that they're bad but they don't do anything for me.
If Minecraft gets a stage in Smash, I won't mind having the option to disable music there to feel more "authentic" to me lol

A while ago I put together some breakdowns of music in certian series by the games they originate from and I finally decided to do one for Mario
Sorry about the readability. There's just...a lot. Technically one of the SMW ones is a "Yoshi" song but come on. And I counted the wrecking crew ones as mario whiel I was at it. Honestly I might have stilled missed one.
Brawl's categorization was absolute nonsense. It's come up before but there's 2 categories, one for Super Mario Bros and one for Mario Kart, right? The Mario Kart section has a whopping...4 songs. 4! Literally why bother separating them!
The Super Mario Bros section randomly includes things like the Gritzy Desert theme. Meanwhile, the "Nintendo" section has several other mario spin offs in it like Dr. Mario and Mario Tennis/Golf. And all the melee songs were shuffled off to the "Super Smash Bros" section, not to be confused with the "Super Smash Bros Brawl" section.
e: I forgot a ton of Ultimate songs. I was in the Brawl & Smash 4 mines for so long the only one I remembered was Delinfo Plaza. I'll update this later.

I find it that a lot of talk in general when considering inclusions especially so with third parties in general that's often taken for granted is the context behind inclusions, rationale behind certain picks isn't nearly as appreciated as the simple myth that Sakurai just need to will it so. And this is coming from the guy who's unironically argued that Sora stands a decent shot in Smash Ultimate. Certain rules on character inclusions exist, those have been laid out not just in interviews but even dev presentations. They're not as "iron clad" as some would like to suggest, but to some extent they are present and especially easy to discern through every character we've currently got in the games. Third party characters have more, even if those mentioned in interviews still come across as vague, so all there really is to look at is the context (Pac-Man was cited by Sakurai as a no-brainer because of Bamco developing the game, Snake because of his personal relationship, Bayonetta because of the ballot, etc.).
Like I kinda think a lot about how Rayman isn't in Smash, given that Ubisoft and Nintendo are extremely close as far as third parties go, the Rayman series as of 2014 (when counting Rabbids) has in total passed around ~40 million sales, a large majority of the games are on Nintendo, Legends got Nintendo-related content in it, and now we even have a Mario + Rabbids crossover. He's got a lot more going for him than a few third parties already represented. Despite this the best Rayman got in Smash is a trophy - and I wouldn't say this is for lack of trying either, because Imran suggested back during the infamous Smashified leak that Ubisoft actually did approach Nintendo to ask if Rayman could be playable in Smash.
Whether or not one wants to draw their own implications (such as everyone's favorite "Sakurai prefers Japanese characters" theories) is anyone else's pejorative, but regardless there's still a strong sense that title sales and mild Nintendo association isn't enough to cinch the deal for something to be playable. Someone mentioned a few pages ago that it's a similar rhetoric for why Monster Hunter hasn't gotten a player character either. It's pretty obvious that a lot of choices boil down to the right place and right time (for instance - why is it that we get a Castlevania rep now of all times?), and in some cases like Minecraft I've entertained the notion that we can get ATs and stages. It would be reasonable and I can see that happening, but I'm just not convinced about the character part yet, and the rumor already lacks too much meat to take it as anything but a passing assumption based on an old extrapolation.

If we were to get a Western-originated character, Steve makes sense as Minecraft is HUGE in Japan.

It is weird how Bowser and Jr/Koopalings are the only main Mario characters lacking a home stage.
Mario himself is not short on stages at all. Give or take more than 10 by himself.

Rosalina has Gateway Galaxy and maybeee Rainbow Road 3ds
Doc had a stage planned
