In addition to numerous other problems with the rankings, it (minorly) irks me how the division between national universities and liberal arts schools makes people completely ignore liberal arts colleges. I live in Massachusetts and even here, it's amazing how many people don't realize how damn good some of the schools out in Western Mass are. I'm biased, because my father and all of my siblings went to WIlliams, but I honestly feel like many people are better served by liberal arts schools.

Thats my question for him as well lol.

Yeah pretty sure its our best ever. U still attending? I went 2010-2012 for business school.

Really miss Nashville.. especially prince chicken shack..
Unfortunately, no. I graduated back in 2005 (technically Dec. 2004 as I did it in 3.5 years but whatever).

I'm so old I'm still not sure how I feel about the "Peace Sign VU" hand gesture (which was just about starting when I was there) or Anchor Down (which did not become fashionable until after I graduated).

I miss the campus quite a bit. I'm still friends with people from my freshman hall (which no longer exists) and I've really only visited a couple of times since graduation.

But what a lovely campus, what a great city (especially if you're not driving in it), and what great memories I have of Vanderbilt.

...are those tuition costs per year?
Yes, but as with everything it's only the sticker price. If you filter for Best Value Colleges, you'll see that the average student only ends up paying about 1/3-1/2 of those prices after scholarships. Still crazy expensive though

I'm wearing my Husky pants right now. Class of 2004. You? And, did something happen to Rugby House? I remember there was a fire way back, but thought it had survived.

Class of 2006. Not sure if a second fire or they just demolished it but the Rugby house by X lot was taken down entirely before I graduated.

When you mentioned the fires I had to think of the Men & Women's national championship year.

You guys should read their methodology if you haven't already. After reading through it I can see why my university (UF) got ranked 8th, when I personally felt my educational experience was actually better at the school I got my AA in before transferring (Santa Fe College, unranked).

I mean don't get me wrong, I love UF, I just feel the list is a bit misleading if you see it as a ranking of educational merit and job placement alone.

That's still more per year than what 4 years of me studying cost. That's with rent and food and everything. So either you parents are rich af, you get a six figure job right after graduation or you end up paying you college fees for about 10 years, is that right? I hope you get the graduation robes for free at least. Wait, don't tell me. I think I know the answer.

At top schools you get great need based financial aid.
Graduated from one of those for undergrad with like 10k in student loans total and didn't pay anything else.

Lol, you have no idea. Pretty much all caps and gowns in the US are made through this giant company called Josten's, which has a monopoly on graduation wear and contracts with each individual school so you have to buy from them, and you only rent them. I think mine was about $90, of which you only keep a couple tassels, and they probably won't let you attend the graduation ceremony if you don't buy them, so you have to pony up. The regular tuition is a bargain compared to some of the ways you get nickel and dimed on books and graduation stuff.

I feel the same way regarding my AA from Valencia College compared to UCF. I found Velencia's math and science classes better when it comes to teaching the material than UCF's. So much so that I am doing Calc 3 as a transient at Valencia.

Berkeley is where it's at
Idk how y'all did it at Cal. It was so gloomy when I went to visit that it basically made my decision to stay home and go to Westwood lmao. Also, how cutthroat was it really lol It was competitive in undergrad but we never actively sabotaged each other. I've heard horror stories from up there
